Deffo this game. Was on the kop that night (and it was at best 3/4 full due to some restriction) and the atmosphere, all things considered was unbelievable.

In fairness to Lucas I think before he signed for us he was spoken about as a 'box to box' midfielder who liked to get forward. Unless he is given a role that allows him to do that we'll probably never see the best of him. Same can be said of Benayoun, the more centrally he plays, the better his performances are. He looked shite when he was played on the left tbf.

What a selective, short memory some people have.....Javier Mascherano needs to remember where his career was going at West Ham. Added to that, defensive midfielders are far easier to replace than creative midfielders.

It's all about opinions, but to answer your question no. I happen to think Alonso is overated, and for the money being quoted I would sell him. I think Mascherano is the best at what he does by a mile, whereas I think Alonso is slow, ponderous and doesn't score enough goals for someone in his position, again just my opinion.

I have to agree. Take away last season's performances and I would have been pleased to move him on. Being cynical you have to ask, was his form last season simply down to wanting to prove Rafa wrong? Also, keeping a potentially unsettled player could have dire consequences for next season.
