  1. It is difficult to know what is best for the development of each individual player. Staying with the first team and getting a limited number of games or going on loan and hopefully being involved every week. I would say at least Eccleston of the five you mentioned is at the moment not good enough for the first team judging by his lack of success at Huddersfield. Would probably add Darby and Ayala into the category not ready for the first team and need a loan deal.
  2. Agree the timing of our loan deals is a big issue. Regarding Spearing I am honestly uncertain of many games he will get staying at Liverpool. Might be best for his development to get more experience.
  3. Hi, Which reserve and academy players will leave the club this summer? Which reserve and academy players really needs a loan deal next season? My guess is that Brouwer, Weilj, Threlfall, Oldfield, Hansen will leave. Pepper will probably leave. Spearing, Darby and Eccleston should continue with loan deals. Ayala and Pacheco should also go out on loan. Maybe also Duran if he can stay fit long enough. There is Wikipedia page called "Liverpool_F.C._Reserves_and_Academy" that contains a list of our current reserves and academy player if you do not remember all the players.
  4. Guess I'm surprised that we cannot sell some of these players. Godwin has played for Spanish U19, been involved in winning the the youth cup and reserve league. Just goes to show how little that really means..
  5. It also seems like Liverpool use loan deals purely as a way to help players get a new contract at a new club. How much effort is the club using to try to get loan deals for players such as Nemeth, Spearing, Darby, El Zhar now (not in 6 months) ? These players need more competitive and regular football than the reserve league can offer IHMO.
  6. Fair comment regarding duty towards the players. However, take Godwin Antwi as an example, he went on loan to Accrington Stanley in March 2007, and then went on to Hartlepool and now Tranmere. When have we done enough?
  7. What do people think of Liverpool's loan dealings? We currently have the following players out on loan, and I just read that Ryan Flynn is heading for Wrexham on loan. Paul Anderson, Nottingham Forest Robbie Threlfall, Hereford Adam Hammill, Blackpool Miki Roque, FC Cartagena Godwin Antwi, Tranmere Jack Hobbs, Leicester David Martin, Leicester Sebastián Leto, Olympiacos Craig Lindfield, Bournemouth Andriy Voronin, Hertha Berlin What is the purpose of these loan deals? Does any of these players stand a chance of making at Liverpool's first team? I'm all for sending young players on loan and get regular matches, especially with the limitied number of reserve matches. However, when the destination of these loans are league one teams I do struggle to see them having any future at Liverpool. Is it mainly about trying to increase their sell-on value? From my point of view it also appear that in some cases these loan deals come too late. Players like Spearing and El Zhar should have, in my opinion, been sent on loan along time ago. Why is this so difficult? Are the players difficult to sell, is Rafa blocking deals, is it about money, or ?
  8. How do you rate the likes of Pepper and Dalla Valle?
  9. Usually just lurk on this forum but ... seriously. It was a very strange decision to sub Gerrard, no doubt about it. How do you know if a substituation was right or wrong? Imho you review the effect the substition has on the game, right? From what I can recall we created a number of chances and Lucas (the guy who replaced Gerrard, remember) got us the penalty that won us the game. Obviously we could also have won it with Gerrard on the field, we'll never know that. However, how come its such a horrible decision when it won us the game? You might call it luck but it did acttally work out perfectly for us. I dont care if Benitez brings of Reina with 5 minutes to go and brings on an extra forward if it wins us the game.
  10. Dont see the problem. Rafa will offer a club whatever he feels a player is worth. West Ham apparently value Benayoun at £8M, should we just offer it and be done with it? In todays crazy transfer market we need to set limits on a players worth otherwise we're fucked (imho).
