  1. Interesting he mentioned the fact that he is spending time in the gym to get bigger; the position he plays in, hopefully he'll make it with us, and this will help him when he comes up against big lumps in CM the way he did against Man U in the Y Cup. His mentality seems spot on. I really hope he develops into a player that reflects this.
  2. Norwich are a good club, on the rise. Paul Lambert is a good up and coming young manager. If given regular opportunities, Pacheco has the chance now to shine.
  3. I don't have Sky/Virgin nor subscribe to liverpoolfc.tv. Anyone know if there are any streams available for it online? Thanks.
  4. Yes. That's the the sort of profile we should be looking at as part of our new strategy under FSG. That also means taking a calculated risk before the player establishes himself and being willing to stump up the cash. First heard about this kid from Tim Vickery, a while ago, when he was eulogizing about him on the radio. The first time I heard of Alexis Sanchez was several years ago, when he was still a teenager, again, from Tim Vickery. AC Milan have been scouting Lamela heavily in recent months.
  5. That's a good list. The pick for me is Sakho, although he recently signed a contract extension with PSG and is an iconic figure there. I think Hummels signed a contract extension with Dortmund as well. With how Dortmund are doing, they don't look like they need to sell. Not that contract extensions really mean much in terms of player availability. If Sakho is up for it, I hope we go in for him. I haven't seen much of the Bundesliga CDs, although I know they are highly rated. I actually don't think Gary Cahill is that special; I think he'd be an asset, he is good in the air and seems to have leadership skills, but is pretty limited. He'd also cost around the £15 mill mark, at least.
  6. It was rumored that Rafa was looking at Garay before he went to Real from Racing. If there was interest then, it came well too late and Rafa missed the boat long ago; he was excelling in the World U20 Championship, I think, and was one of the 2 CDs and would've been easy to get; Rafa chose to sign Argentina's third choice CD Gabriel Paletta! I think Garay, currently at Real, has got lost in the pack there.
  7. For that sort of money we could sign 20 yr old 6 ft 8 striker Lacina Traore. We've also been linked with Valencia's talented 17 yr old striker Paco. That appears a bit unrealistic, and he'd cost a fair wedge.
  8. Kenny Dalglish hailed the burgeoning strike partnership of Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll after the duo impressed during the 2-0 victory at Sunderland. Most Recent News The Reds boss named the front two in his starting XI for the first time at the Stadium Light and was delighted with their link-up play. Dalglish told his post-match press conference: "The two lads we brought in during January played together for the first time today and showed a lot of very encouraging signs. "Andy made a fantastic physical effort to play 90 minutes on Thursday and another 70 today. "Luis chips in with a fantastic goal and the two of them showed encouraging signs of what we can look forward to. "I don't think there is a set time for partnerships to form. It either happens or it doesn't. It was encouraging. "Suarez looks a good player and scored a fantastic goal for us. We have a lot of good viewing." Liverpool took the lead on 34 minutes when Dirk Kuyt converted a hotly disputed penalty after John Mensah was adjudged to have brought down Jay Spearing in the area. Sunderland protested that the foul had been committed outside the box and Dalglish admitted the Reds may have enjoyed a slice of luck with their opening goal. "There was a bit of a dispute about whether the foul was inside or outside the box," he said. "I couldn't honestly tell you from where I was sat but if we got a fortuitous decision then we got a fortuitous decision in that incidence. "But I think overall it was a great effort from our players with their attitude and commitment, especially when you consider they played Thursday night in a difficult game. That ended up as a disappointing result for us but the way they went about their job today was a great credit to them. "It just shows how much pride they take in their own performance, the respect they have for the football club and the people who support it. "I think we deserved to win the game even though we might have been fortunate in that incidence with the referee's decision." It was the perseverance of Spearing that ultimately led to the controversial incident and the boss was keen to praise the midfielder for an accomplished display at the heart of the midfield. "The wee man did really well the third game in against Everton," said Dalglish. "He never knew he had a stress fracture and he played. We had to give it time to heal or we'd have lost him for the whole season. "I think we made the right decision because he played really well. He's spirited, he can see a pass and intercept too. He's not 6ft 2 but he's still a decent footballer and he did very well today. "If you add to that Martin Kelly who has come through the club as well and a young boy we brought through today in John Flanagan - he's close to getting involved - then we aren't too bad." Suarez's late solo effort sealed a win that has moved Liverpool to within four points of fifth-placed Tottenham. It means Dalglish has taken 20 points from 10 games since assuming the Anfield hot-seat but the Scot was quick to lay all the credit at the feet of his players. He said: "It's okay. It would be better if it was 30 I suppose. But you don't get everything you want in life. We just have to get on with it. "The response from the players has been fantastic. We have got plenty of talent and ability. They've allied that with a great deal of determination and we got the reward for it. "They themselves deserve the credit because they are the ones who go out on the pitch and play." Journalists were also eager to ask Dalglish about his long-term future as Liverpool manager. He added: "With regards to the job, I've seen in the papers that I've asked for four years - I don't know who I'm supposed to have asked. Then I saw that I was offered two - I don't know who sent that in. "When someone asks if I've spoken to the owners, of course I do. It's their club and they are fantastic owners and very supportive owners. "There's been no detailed discussions about next season. Until there is something to be said we cannot make it up for you. There's nothing. That's not a problem for me. The football club is always the most important thing. "There's no pressure on anyone." Interesting comment about 18 yr old Flanagan getting close to 1st team action.
  9. Benzema is the guy I wanted to replace Torres as well, under the ideal circumstances. Funny, eh? If Higuain was was fit and still scoring, for any interested club, they could've got Benzema for the £20 mill mark. Now, especially if he helps Real win the CL, if they do want to sell in the summer, they'd want closer to the £30 mill they paid for him. And why not? He has greater pedigree than Carroll and Torres went for £50 mill!
  10. Karim Benzema is a class player; he's got all the tools to be a top striker. Mourinho seems to have instilled confidence in him. Glad he's doing well.
  11. Back to Owen Coyle, I'd be fascinated to see what he can achieve with quality players at his disposal. Will obviously have to be at another club.
  12. Norwich City manager Paul Lambert is another Scotsman making a name for himself. They are currently 2nd in the Championship.
  13. Arsenal are an absolute disgrace. Their pretty football comes with no end product - not exactly skilled management. Some blinkered observers describe Wenger as a "genius" and "the professor"....Laughable. In fairness, I haven't heard many Arsenal fans refer to him in those terms.
  14. After scoring from a penalty and a free kick today against Blackburn, Charlie Adam has scored his 10th goal for Blackpool this season. Even though he gets a fair share of his goals from penalties, that's a very impressive stat. He scores goals, creates them, is brilliant at set pieces; and is a leader. He'd be a great asset at LFC, and I hope we go sign him in the summer, along with signing a DM.
  15. On a couple of occasions I saw him play in preseason games etc, his lack of pace did show, which obviously can be compensated for if a CD is a good reader of the game; but he made some basic mistakes that made him appear a bit cumbersome and clumsy. That is only in my LIMITED viewing of him and I'm not making any judgment on him. For people who have seen more of him, is that an inaccurate reflection of him and he is actually not error prone, but an assured and confident CD?
  16. I would love to know how the Derby fans would compare Ayala to Chris Riggott, who started establishing himself when he was 19 at Derby, at a similar stage. Riggott was excellent for them and at that age was putting in some commanding performances against top sides. I know we were linked with him at that time. While having a decent career, he never really fulfilled his early promise.
  17. Certainly an interesting conversation. Don't think Rushie ever got to grips with Italian and Capello's English is still.....well, a bit patchy.
  18. He hasn't looked the part playing for Liverpool at LB when he's played there, unfortunately. I'm gonna reserve judgment on the lad, especially as people who have seen him play at CB rate him. I'm still positive about Wilson and looking forward to seeing him playing at CB for us.
  19. That's an odd twosome - just saw Fabio Capello and Ian Rush having a chat as their sitting side by side. Chance for Rushie to brush up on his Italian!
  20. That's what I was getting at mate. And While Braga aren't great, their better than the sides he would've come up against most of the time in the SPL.
  21. Did he look as comfortable as when playing at CB though mate, particularly for Rangers for whom he has played more games?
  22. I feel sorry for Wilson. The lad is clearly a cultured player, but he is being asked to play out of position, which is doing him no favors. Against West Ham, in a defensive 3, again he played a role he wasn't used to. It is hard enough for a young lad to come and play in another league, but he hasn't been helped. Kenny should either play him in his best position as one of 2 CDs, the position he played in that persuaded the club to buy him, or not bother playing him.
