Given that we need a much better start to next season I just don't see us risking a substantial part of whatever transfer kitty is available on someone who will need a season to adapt to the pace of the English game. I know Morientes wasn't that expensive, but I honestly thought he was going to be a fantastic player for us, and I guess many Chelsea fans have been disappointed by Shevchenko. The fact that Tevez has played in the premiership and has performed well makes him a far safer buy, even at £20 milllion, than, say, Villa or Eto'o.
Can I also make it clear that I do not want Owen back - I can't see how a player with any integrity would even consider leaving Newcastle under the circumstances. However, I do like puppy dogs, Luis Garcia, and Christmas, which just goes to show you shouldn't believe everything you read on forums.
