  1. I hope, and want to believe you're right. In fact if you read my posts on this thread then you'll see that I am not throwing in the towel based on what everyone thinks. I must say though, I don't remember Dave and The Count ever saying the same thing and ending up wrong. We've all been guilty of overhyping what we can expect this summer - even to the point of being hypocritical in the fact that 3 summers ago we were slating Chelsea for trying to "buy the League" now we are slating our new owners for perhaps not doing the same. Personally I don't want that anyway but I do want to be competitive in every sense and everything I have heard from the new owners has told me that they want that too. The problem is, if they WERE lying then it cuts a lot deeper than not winning the league again next season, it means we can't trust our owners and that Rafa will be off in a shot and THAT is what I am concerned about.
  2. Personally I could just about deal with another season of 3rd or 4th and no massive signings so long as Rafa was satisfied that we were moving in the right direction and stuck around. I just cannot bring myself to countenance the idea of us being under a new manager next season but I know Rafa will walk if he doesn't see sure signs we can be competitive in the medium term. For me, everything hangs on Rafa. I trust the man to tell me whether we can believe in the new owners, if he stays then it can't be that bad. If he walks I'll be a lost soul.
  3. Ah, fuck nightmares! I can't sleep feeling like this! I think I'll stick around a while. TSCH! Another beer is cracked.
  4. Shit! Just SHIT frankly! I was willing to believe this was all speculaation, and I still hope it is, but short of some great official news in the morning I'm starting to worry something bad has happened. The only thing that REALLY worries me is I believe very strongly that Rafa won't stand for being fucked about. If Rafa was to leave now I can't see us being a force in the Premiership or anwhere else for years.
  5. Clearly I'll be doing that, but I still feel it's fair enough to post on here being dubious of what's being said. Everyone else seems to be saying - "Oh well, if the Count says so then we're fucked" - I just feel differently as yet - of course I might be wrong.
  6. Maybe all our expectations were a little high to begin with
  7. I don't disagree with that to be honest, but I am worried that his comments sound like his own assessment of the article I posted and that hew has no cast iron sources. I really don't want to sound like I'm having a go at a respected member of the forum but he hasn't even explained exactly what he means, let alone how "cast-iron" it is. Obviously if he'd come on and said we'd be signing Eto'o within a week I'd be a lot more inclined to agree with him so maybe this is just me being unable to face the truth. Time will tell.
  8. Well evidently not, but he's gone aqnd made everyone start wetting their pants here and turning against our new owners and even if he generally is reliable it might all be bollocks. I think more could have been revealed than has been to back up his claims. Is this his opinion based on something he's heard or nailled on truth? We'll all feel like twats if we sign Villa next week won't we FFS!
  9. If the Count is so sure of this, why not reveal where the info comes from - I know it's part of a rich online persona he has to maintain but I don't appreciate all this cloak and dagger stuff. If you know something we'd all feel a lot more able to make our own judgements if we knew the same.
  10. Count, I don't mean to be disrespectful but it sounds liek you're working to an agenda here. Can you really know that they are going to give us fuck all when they are coming out on an almost daily basis and saying almost the exact opposite. Your comments sound as though they are drawing conclusions by reading between the lines of this Gillete interview from today. http://liverpoolfc.co.za/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/1126051643/m/7071051093 I don't think that says we have no more money than usual. I'm not saying you are wrong Count, but it seems you've always been oppposed to Gillette and might be reading a little too much into certain comments - I hope you're wrong but if you're not then I'll be a sad panda!
  11. This made me laugh: http://icliverpool.icnetwork.co.uk/0500liverpoolfc/0100news/tm_headline=echo-comment%2D-it-was-right-to-defend-reds-fans%26method=full%26objectid=19260864%26siteid=50061-name_page.html ECHO comment: It was right to defend Reds fansJun 7 2007 Liverpool Echo FEW issues have made the ECHO mailbag bulge quite like the fallout from Uefa’s accusation that Liverpool fans were the worst in Europe. That slur has since been retracted by Uefa chief Michel Platini but, as today’s letters’ page illustrates, the flames it fanned are still to die down. On Monday, we reflected the feelings of many Merseysiders when we ran an ECHO editorial calling on Uefa spokesman William Gaillard to quit. As is always the case in journalism, we found that you can’t please all of the people all of the timeand we have received correspondence from people unhappy with our stance. Steven Mills wrote: “Once again, the Liverpool (FC) ECHO defend the indefensible with your ridiculous article saying that UEFA spokesperson William Gaillard should resign, and more laughably Michel Platini should follow. Story continues ADVERTISEMENT “You say that Mr Gaillard has accused “the city”. Excuse me? I am from Liverpool and he hasn't insulted or accused me of anything. As far as I am concerned, he is finally speaking the truth that Liverpool fans are the worst behaved in Europe.” Thanks for your letter Mr Mills but it should be pointed out once again that this particular accusation has no basis in fact, as Mr Platini himself has since admitted. We take your point that no-one has accused you as an individual but the fact that someone did make an erroneous accusation against the Liverpool fans, many of whom are, of course, from this city, led us to see it as an attack on the city itself. At a time when so much work is being done to improve Liverpool’s image, we simply cannot afford to let such a slur pass without comment and we will defend the people of this city when it is right to do so whether they support Liverpool, Everton, Tranmere Rovers or anyone else. Paul, from Liverpool, was much happier with our front page editorial on this controversial issue. He wrote: “What an excellent article – well done to the ECHO. “It galls me when Uefa criticises English teams in Europe when racism and violent disorder, bribery, backhanders are far more prevalent in the likes of Italy, Spain, France. That buffoon should resign. “Some Liverpool fans are no angels but on the whole they are very well behaved supporters. I was in Athens and saw no such disorder. We were singing with Milan fans and congratulated them on their win.” Our stance on Athens remains unchanged. Those Liverpool supporters who bunked into the stadium and caused problems deserve nothing but condemnation. But the fact remains that the vast majority of Liverpool fans in Athens behaved impeccably – there were just seven arrests out of an estimated 40,000 who travelled to the Greek capital – and it is their reputation and that of the city as a whole which we are endeavouring to protect. There are always two sides to every story and we felt it was our duty to show that UEFA’s version of events should not go unchecked.
  12. Zola..? But you don't mean good Italians as Mancini's Brazilian - in that case Henry came from Juve, Bergkamp from Inter, need I go on - FFS!
  13. Yeah! The new Stevie G by all accounts!
  14. Nah, me too. And I'll be doing so until mid August - I hate that but I love this time of year too. There was a great article referencing it on the BBC which I liked. Here you go: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/6653123.stm
  15. I think the midfield player to leave will be Sissoko. Rafa has deccided to play SG in the centre a lot more next season meaning he needs a holding player alongside who has good distribution. Rafa has bought a top Brazilian in the mould of SG too who can fill in in that system. Mascher and Xabi can also play well together in a middle 3 or 2. Further to that Rafa will be adding quality down the flanks meaning that a) Xabi's distribution will be key from midfield (assuming he gets his mojo back) and b) Stevie will have to play in the centre a lot more to accomodate proper wingers. Xabi is Rafa's favourite and he's not going anywhere UNLESS it is his choice to go. We will get 15M from Juve for Sissoko which represents great business. I also think Crouchie will stay but play a similar amount of footie to this season.
  16. 5 and Brazil's player of the year! I don't think Xabi will leave unless HE wants it - he'll have a much better season next time around I feel and he could be key with quality wingers to pick out. Momo on the other hand.....
  17. He's shit. Anyway we're getting Militio!
  18. Nani and Quaresma arew very tricky attacking players. Puerta is a bit more of an all round left sided player IMO. I think we'll get Simao though, Rafa likes him and he can defend a little as well as attack and hit a mean dead ball.
  19. Agree, Paco, those are shite mate! Reina 7, Kuyt 6, Pennant 7 (Yes!), Mascher 9, Alonso 7. Be fair!
  20. Of those Puerta is the most "Rafa" player
  21. Or steal Nani from under the mancs' nose! Or Puerta or Quaresma!
