  1. Owen is past it, I agree it´s time to move on!!! I see your argument about Torres being an out and out striker, but I just can´t help to vision him besides David Villa or Diego Milito, that would have been a nightmare for any defender and a match made in heaven for us... One is strong, quick with loads of skill that would tear defences to shreds, whilst the other lurkes around the in the box, finds his openings and puts the ball in the net for fun:yes: I would take that over our current option of 3 "drop deep" strikers....
  2. Had we had him at his best at the club now with the current squad we would have been favourites for the title.... Why the objections for us to buy a world class poacher, I mean we can´t field 6 central midfielders and 4 "likes to drop deep" strikers now can we...
  3. Read my first sentence: "Perhaps it has something to do with having world class wingers" Besides Chelsea have bought a poacher, Shevchenko, he just hasn´t found his feet in the PL yet... Fungusface have tried to replace RVN, and has always utilized Solskjaer when injury free, so I think they both would like a poacher in their teams......
  4. Stunning, can´t thank G&H enough for throwing out that monstrosity of a bowl and giving us a unique stadium for our unique club.... The only concern I have are those open corners which will not be filled in, I guess we´ll just have to wait and see what it will look like whan it´s finished. BTW - I liked the roof in a darker color like we saw in those leaked images better, but that´s a minor issue.... New stadium plans
  5. Perhaps it has something to with having world class wingers  And I think Utd were pretty decent with Ruud Van Horseface in the team don´t you
  6. Who cares about Owen? He(after claiming to be wanting to sign a new contact for 2 years) ledt us behind, to win his medals elsewhere...His problem not ours, let him rot at Newcastle.... Like McAmoney before him I could not care less how sadly their carreers ended... They did not respect us, I do not respect them..... Let's move on......................! YNWA
  7. That's just not good enough, with a net spending equal to or less than the new television revenue, G&H get your f******money out....... I'm on the ale, but still I think that fairly represents my opinio:angry:
  8. I personally will reserve the right to judge him a bit later on, however due to his age I believe he will need time, and time is not a luxury we have this season, we need to start the season running this time around.... In other words I criticised Rafa for not going after a finished article who probably would have needed less time to adjust. Also I wanted more of an out-and-out winger, who can beat his opponent, get the crowd going and bomb the box with quality delivery... Whether Babel can be this player time will tell, but I and himself apparently see him more as a striker than a winger....
  9. Just for the record, do you mean between: 1. him and Kuyt 2. him and rest of the strikers(Voronin,Kuyt,Torres,Babel) 3. him and the rest of the squad ???
  10. I do not disagree with the fact that Crouch has some skill, but he needs to improve his movement and aggression in the box. For example he needs to use his height, loose his marker and attack the first post a hell of a lot more than he has in the past... Of course we do not know how Voronin will do in the league, and we only have a few pre-season friendlies to judge by, but every single player needs to impress every time they play or train in order to get playing time, and from what we have seen so far Crouch have some catching up to do... What he did last year is history, this is a new season with new opportunities... I just hope everybody steps up and competition will be fierce, we'll need it... Still feel we miss a poacher though, perhaps Crouch or Kuyt can become one, but I have my doubts
  11. He was right though wasn't he? I mean some players just do not have what it takes to play for Liverpool!!
  12. I'd say that both Voronin and Torres has better first touch than Crouch.... Whether it be Kuyt or Crouch who have the better touch I do not care, we could sell either one for all I care...... But given how many fans Crouch has on here I suppose a poll would favour the sale of Kuyt.. Unfortunately for those who likes Crouch, Rafa rates Kuyt more highly! Now I could tell you all to shut it, just like a lot of people have told me and others that have argued for buying Quaresma and Alves, that if Rafa chooses otherwise than that must be the only correct decision, but I am not!!! It is perfectly OK to question Rafa's decisions..... You are however backing my argument for us to buy a world class poacher, because we do not have any at the club right now.... Torres is good, but a new Fowler he is not.... Sell Kuyt or Crouch let's buy Milito or Villa!! Together with Torres up front that will make for a great combo:thumbsup:
  13. Voronin and Kuyt have played target man a hell of a lot better than Crouch has in pre-season so I really don´t see the big problem.. I would rather have one poacher and 3 target men, than 4 target men up front, and I think a lot of people on here agree with me on this... Anyway I am of for some beers, cheers:thumbup:
  14. At times I feel he does, I agree, but he did utilize Aimar with great success at Valencia if I recall correctly... Aimar did not play in every game but in a lot of those he did he played fantastic.... So in time I think Rafa could look for such a player, but he probably had other priorities ths summer....
  15. Then why the hell is he still here for then? Torres is our new leader up front and is better than Crouch at pretty much everything. Both Kuyt and Voronin are both a hell of a lot stronger than Crouch and have the same qualities of holding the ball up. Babel and Torres are both faster and more skillfull. Unless Crouch becomes more aggressive in the box and uses his height and physique, the future does not look bright for him, at LFC anyway...
  16. I am sure if those occasional games are big games like the CL final etc, you´ll find players willing to come  This kind of player is needed to break down resilient defenses, of there are many in the PL, so I think there would be plenty of games to play for someone to carve out some opportunities for our strikers... Diego Ribas, player of the year in Germany should be worth a punt
  17. What´s the point of having a 2 meter tall beanpole as a striker if we´re going to have Gerrard driftin inside and nobody to provide the crosses for Crouch to use his God given advantage.... An out-and-out winger would sort this out, and if only Rafa could teach Crouch to attack the ball like he did against Arsenal last season every single time instead of drifting to the back post, perhaps I would even change my willingness to sell him and vote for Kuyt instead...
  18. Jesus Christ I mentioned 6, but if you follow European football you would know there are plenty of others. I´m not saying that we need one as Rafa probably feels it would break up the balance of the team, but it wold have been nice to have in the CL final as Gerrard is many things but that kind of player he is not!!!!
  19. Nicely put!!! And as far as I am concerned I think Rafa is to obsessed with this theory of plyers being able to play anywhere as it gives him options. It´s the same with the strikers, he wants them all to be able to hold the ball up as well as score goals, there seems to be no room for the instictive poacher we all crave....
  20. I take it you did not see him win the Copa America final for Brazil then? 1 goal and 1 assist in the 40 minutes he played as a winger(right side midfield). Or how Sevilla have done this year, and why they are holding out for 20 million pounds for him....
  21. I agree with a lot of what you say Rashid, but I have to comment on this... As a matter of fact we do not have one single world class "in the hole player", what we have is forwards who all like to drop deep, there is a big difference... And some of them needs to be told to stop and get into the box more often, or we can always buy Villa or Milito..... Diego Ribas at Werder, Anderson at Utd, Kaka at Milan, Nasri at Marseille, Aimar at Zaragoza, Riquelme at Villareal are all such players, we have none at present :no
  22. Alves anyone, he he
  23. Cheer up folks it´s preseason yet, save the doom and gloom for our league opener.... Momo was bos today, great energy, strong in tackle, good passing and pretty good skilla as well!! Just needs to work on his shooting now:thumbup: Torres were unlucky but looks class..... He should be paired with a world class poacher up front though, as I have my doubts Kuyt and Crouch are up for the job... Wingers for opening day can only be Kewell and Pennant based on this and the previous display... Pennant was very good today and if he can produce this kind of performance every week he will have a great season... Benayoun seems a decent replacement for Garcia, and Babel needs to find his feet quickly as we do not have the luxery of time to wait to long. He reminded me a bit of Cisse without the pace today, but he seems tired so I choose to blame Paco... And Reina proved once more that he is a great goalkeeper....
  24. :$ In the post above I meant Sporting of course....
