  1. Lallana could easily end up behind both players in the pecking order for the attacking midfield position by the end of the year. That's if Sterling continues to develop in that role and Coutinho sorts his shooting out. Lallana is Joe Allen II for me, can't fault his effort and looks good at times buy ultimately is pretty ineffective and not good enough for us. If we're going into games with a midfield of Henderson, Allen and Lallana at times next year then that's a worry for me. There's a lot of money been spent there however we'll be only fielding a workmanlike midfield.
  2. Being better than Aspas isn't the criteria we should be setting when buying this summer. How about using 'good enough to challenge Suarez and Sturridge'?
  3. Can't get my head round what Rodgers idea is. I went into the summer thinking this is our chance to cherry pick the best up and coming talent around which would really get the club moving in European competition again. And here we are handing Southampton possibly £40m plus for an over the hill striker and two flavour of 2013/14 premier league players in Lallana and Lovren. Lambert has got qualities however he's miles away from the sort of backup to Suarez and Sturridge I thought we'd be going for. The only way it'd make a bit of sense in buying him would be if we're getting rid of Borini, Lambert is coming as fourth choice striker and there's another player closer talent wise to the first choice pair yet to come in.
  4. Bending over backwards doing some stupid deal that's probably going to blow up in our faces for Adam Lallana. What the hell is going on?
  5. It's only on here I've seen any real support for signing him. Most reds I know are at least quite worried with the class of the strongly rumoured players that have been linked to us.
  6. Moreno would be a good signing but I can't see any of the others in your current list being in the first choice eleven once the season settles down next year.
  7. Can't say I've ever watched a Southampton game - highlights or the full match - and thought Lallana stood out. Neat, tidy and mobile but never somebody I'd have seen us spending so much on. If anything he's been outshone by Schneiderlin as Southampton's best player every time I've watched them play. I just don't see him fitting in like some do. Not quick enough to play in the front three if we're going to continue scaring teams with our pace on the break. And I don't think he's better than Coutinho playing the furthest forward of three midfielders.
  8. Hopefully fate and/or Spurs do us another big favour here, and as has happened with a couple of deals these last two years, we end up with with what will prove to be a superior player than our first choice. Is a bit worrying that that has happened though.
  9. If we're not profitable once we've had a full year of the new tv deals, new sponsorships, prize money from high league finish and CL money - and a few more quid capitalising on all this from merchandise then we might as well pack up! That's not going to be the case though. £40m is too low a budget if we have any ambition. Especially as the Willian or Costa or Kono money, maximum 30m, still hasn't been spent from the last two windows.
  10. I want a backup striker but I want that player to be much better than Borini. He's miles below the level of Suarez and Sturridge. Sell while we can get a few quid back.
  11. I'd give Suso a chance to force his way into the team here next year. Him and Ibe have got the potential to become regulars in the first team squad like Sterling and Flanagan have.
  12. His current form probably has a lot to do with him wanting to make the world cup squad coupled with him still being pretty fresh after having played so little compared to previous seasons. I'd have doubts whether he'd keep that standard up over the next season here.
  13. I don't think he's what we need. I'd much prefer so much money being spent on a direct, pacy attacker and/or a more physical midfielder. We've got Suso returning, I'd rather see him given a chance to compete with Coutihno and Sterling. Rodgers needs to address getting in the the attacker and midfielder described above along with a couple of excellent full backs.
  14. Sterling to start for me. Allen to drop out. I'd also switch the formation to how we set up vs Everton.
  15. Perhaps in games when he thinks he's got a chance. His big game and derby record is poor at best.
