Klopp: Nothing has been decided in terms of the title

Jürgen Klopp is in no mood to consider Liverpool as Premier League champions elect despite extending their lead atop the Premier League table with an emphatic 4-0 win against Leicester on Thursday evening.

The Reds were imperious form throughout the contest and in truth, the margin of victory could have been greater.

Despite the home team having a excellent first half of the campaign, they knew full well that the eyes of the football world was focussed on them as this was their judgement day in terms of their title credentials.

However from kick-off, it was clear that this fixture looked to be a bridge too far as the Reds pressured their opponents all over the pitch.

Despite Klopp's attempts to downplay it, the Reds are now firm favourites to win the title and their odds are shortening by the week.  For those wanting to bet on them while you still can, a smart move would be to take advantage of the Sky bet sign up offer.

It seemed remarkable that the game was seemingly still up for grabs heading into the last 20 minutes of the game,.

However, the European Champions showed their ruthless edge by scoring three goals in seven minutes through a James Milner penalty with his first touch of the game, a second to Bobby Firmino and a clinical strike by Trent Alexander-Arnold to put the Foxes out of their misery and push the lead out to 13 points.

But as Four Four Two reported, that did not interest Jürgen Klopp one bit:

“The only thing that changes in the question is that the number is different.

“It was 10, 11, now 13.

“But we actually don’t feel it, we don’t think it and we didn’t mention it once before the game because it’s just not interesting. We all know that.

“I can write the stories by myself.

“The first story is that never before in the history of British football has a team had a bigger lead and lost the lead.

“That sounds, in my ear, negative, so why should we think about something like that?

“ We are just focused on the next [games].

"How I said, we play Wolves, Sheffield United, Everton, Tottenham, Manchester United in the next five games.

“That doesn’t sound like anything is decided in my ears, to be honest.

“We have to play all of them and we try with all we have to make sure we are ready. The number is absolutely not relevant to us.

Former Reds manager Brendan Rodgers was honest in his appraisal that his men had been second best on this evening and in the previous fixture against Man City.

“They are a fantastic team with confidence high after not losing many games over an 18-month period.

“Because of how well we’ve done, we’ve been catapulted into this title race.

“But then you’ve seen in the last couple of games, the quality of the opposition we’ve played, and Liverpool were terrific.

“There is still a lot to play for, but the last couple of games we’ve come up against the best two teams in the league.”
