Tottenham Hotspur vs Liverpool preview, team news, tickets & prediction

Tottenham Hotspur vs Liverpool on matchday 7 of the 2023/24 Premier League season is poised to be the biggest challenge both teams have faced this season.

Liverpool opened the year with a 1-1 draw away at Chelsea that showed what Jürgen Klopp intended to achieve this season. They have since gone on to seal seven wins on the bounce in all competitions despite not always hitting top gear.

However, football lovers and followers of Liverpool could clearly see the vision and have, once again, rallied behind Klopp and the players in anticipation of a successful season.

Spurs also started with a draw, then went on to claim three straight wins like Liverpool. Ange Postecoglou, who joined from Scottish Premiership side Celtic as the side's new manager, has shown that he can go toe-to-toe with the big names that litter the English top flight.

Postecoglou also recently reinstated former captain Hugo Lloris in Spurs' Premier League side after the veteran goalkeeper was unable to find an exit path at the end of the 2023/24 season. Spurs fans may be seeing their French goalkeeping legend on the bench against Liverpool, which will be a morale boost for them.

For Guglielmo Vicario, Lloris' return to the team will be a big deal as he will be focused on keeping his starting shirt. A big performance against Liverpool's attacking talents could seal the deal for him because Lloris has not returned to be a passenger.

The matchday 7 clash between both teams is certain to provide loads of excitement and very notable moments. Read on for information on matchday tickets, possible lineups and predictions for the Tottenham Hotspur vs Liverpool game.

Match Tickets

Tottenham Hotspur vs Liverpool tickets for the 2023/24 Premier League matchday 7 clash between both teams will be on sale in a couple of days. Fans will have to visit the websites of both teams to pick their tickets to the game.

Tottenham Hotspur tickets and Liverpool tickets are going to be sold out for the game thanks to the high stakes of the game. Ange Postecoglou has turned the fortunes of Spurs around and Liverpool is his biggest test to date, even bigger than the North London Derby of matchday 6.

For this reason, fans will have to sign up early on the websites of both Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur to get early access to the tickets.

For the fans who are unable to get tickets via the clubs' websites, reputable ticket resellers like Seatsnet.com will connect said fans with other fans or organizations willing to exchange their tickets to the game for some money.

Fans in the United Kingdom can catch the game on Sky Sports at 5:30 P.M. on Saturday 30 September 2023. Fans without a Sky Sports subscription can stream the match via various streaming platforms like Paramount Plus.

The same goes for fans outside the UK, who also have official Premier League broadcast partners to choose from. The game will be played at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Team news

Tottenham Hotspur have welcomed back Giovanni Lo Celso into the squad but at the moment, there is no displacing James Maddison, their marquee signing for the 2023/24 summer transfer window. The battle for starting places in attack between Manor Solomon and Richarlison will continue but both players will be available for the game. Bryan Gil, Ryan Sessegnon and Rodrigo Bentancur continue to battle injuries. Yves Bissouma and Pape Mata Sarr will do well to put in solid performances with Bentancur's return drawing closer.

Liverpool are at full strength for the trip to North London, especially in defence, where they struggled last season. Klopp still needs to work on shoring it up but Son and co already know how difficult it is breaking past Virgil Van Dijk, Ibrahima Konaté, Joel Matip and co. Stefan Bajčetić has been back in the first team dynamics for a while now and Klopp could have him tag along for the trip.

Lineups

Tottenham Hotspur are slowly reintegrating Giovanni Lo Celso into the squad but it is unlikely that the Argentina international starts for Ange Postecoglou in many matches this season. He could make an appearance off the bench when Spurs welcome Liverpool to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Up front, Richarlison will continue to hold the manager's trust as he allows captain Heung-Min Son play better and hit the goals.

Tottenham Hotspur: Vicario; Udogie, Van de Ven, Romero, Porro; Bissouma, Sarr; Son, Maddison, Kulusevski; Richarlison.

Klopp is expected to rotate his team against Postecoglou who is set to really challenge him just as Mauricio Pochettino did on the opening day of the 2023/24 season. The defence will not see much changes but it will be almost impossible for Ibrahima Konaté to be kept out of the starting XI for this game. The Frenchman has been injured for quite some time now and is now fit to resume duties alongside Virgil Van Dijk.

Liverpool: Alison; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Szoboszlai, Mac Allister, Jones; Salah, Nunez, Diaz.

Prediction

Tottenham Hotspur vs Liverpool is a match between two teams who are set to go head to head with one goal in mind: show that they have improved.

Both teams were unable to muster any sort of challenge last season as Arsenal rode on the wave of their incapacity to almost clinch the Premier League title before they slipped and handed it back to Manchester City.

This season, only Manchester City and Liverpool have a better defensive record than Spurs while only Man City and Spurs (as well as Brighton and Hove Albion) have a better goal record than Liverpool.

Jürgen Klopp will be a hard nut to crack for the Australian manager, however, and we expect a hard fought draw.

Tottenham Hotspur 1 - 1 Liverpool.
