Liverpool Vindicated Over Baseless French Based Claims

Following the claims and the counterclaims that were made over Liverpool's Champions League trip to Paris' Stade de France stadium for the clash with Real Madrid that ultimately saw innocent fans penned in and teargassed over what was a failure by the authorities to competently cope with the numbers in attendance, club skipper Jordan Henderson made his own comment on Tuesday evening after the independent report into the utter omnishambles was released.

The report certainly took its sweet time given the game took place back on May 28, 2022, but it ultimately concluded that UEFA had to bear 'primary responsibility' for the fiasco, and even though Liverpool fans were wrongly blamed initially for the problems and the age old 'ticketless fans' trope was trotted out, the report concluded it was 'remarkable' that no one had lost their lives in the chaos. For Henderson, he felt that it had to now be a 'turning point' for how football fans are treated across the board but Betano Bonus Registo would have its own odds on UEFA doing the right thing here.

Taking to social media to give his thoughts, the 32 year old 74 capped England international explained simply.

"The sooner action is taken, the better. The Paris report needs to be a turning point for the treatment of football fans. No one should have their safety jeopardised by inadequate organisation."

Liverpool in their own response stated that they wanted UEFA to 'fully and transparently' ensure that each and every recommendation in the report was fully implemented to ensure that 'there are no more near missus' in the future when it comes to crowd safety.

Understandably, following on from the tragic 1989 Hillsborough disaster, the event at Stade de France brought back too many memories and obviously hit close to home for some, and that had not been lost on the club at all as they pointed to 'fundamental safety failings' that had 'exacerbated the suffering' of families, friends and survivors.

"We implore Uefa to fully enact the recommendations as outlined by the panel - no matter how difficult - to ensure supporter safety is the number one priority at the heart of every Uefa football fixture."

The report contained 21 recommendations and further stated that French authorities had to take this as a 'wake up call' given they are now due to host the 2023 Rugby World Cup and the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games and the report has obviously caused a bit of a small political stir given the accusations thrown around originally, as Liverpool MP Ian Byrne has now written to French president Emmanuel Macron to demand 'nothing short of a full apology' given the initial claims made.

One would imagine this story still has a bit to run.
