Liverpool fans are generally encouraged with the way the season turned out, although after such a promising start there is also a tinge of disappointment at what might have been.
Overall though Jurgen Klopp’s first full season in charge was one of significant progress, and no doubt the German has a plan for building on it next year.
Having just about managed to cling onto their Champions League place the Reds will hope to make a deep run in the tournament next year, but that can have a negative effect on the domestic form unless the squad is strengthened. While there will no doubt be some big money, established players brought in, In any case, the German manager will no doubt bet on his young players being able to step up when needed.
Hedging Against Injuries and Suspensions
One of the main reasons why Liverpool were so unpredictable this season and lost so many points at home is that they rarely played at full strength. The injury list frequently featured four or five players, including key midfielders and strikers. Daniel Sturridge played fewer games than expected and may leave the club this summer. Rhian Brewster and Ben Woodburn are two players that Liverpool fans should watch closely, as they will play more matches next season. At just 17 years old, the pair should be highly motivated and they definitely have plenty to prove to earn a spot in the starting formation. It’s widely rumoured that some of the players Klopp wants to bring to Liverpool this summer are also youngsters from Germany. If these plans come to fruition, the team is expected to play with the same unbridled enthusiasm and energy, while hopefully winning more points.
