If Liverpool Do Not Get Bellingham, Who Could They Sign?

Liverpool Football Club has been linked with several players in recent transfer windows, and the summer of 2023 is likely to be no different. While the club had been strongly rumoured to be interested in signing Borussia Dortmund's Jude Bellingham, there is no guarantee that a deal will be completed and recent reports claim that Jurgen Klopp has cooled his interest and is looking elsewhere.

So, if Liverpool doesn't get Bellingham, who could they sign to strengthen their squad?

This is a good question, and it is one that we are going to delve into even deeper in this article. Let’s get straight to it, and have a peek at which players Liverpool could sign if they don’t get Jude Bellingham.

Ryan Gravenberch is a Prime Candidate

One potential target for Liverpool is Bayern Munich midfielder Ryan Gravenberch. The 21-year-old made his name as a precocious teenager at Ajax, showcasing his ability as a dynamic box-to-box midfielder with excellent ball-winning skills and an eye for goal.

Last summer he was snapped up by Bayern Munich but he has endured a difficult season in the Bundesliga and has struggled to get the game time he would like.

Gravenberch's energy and versatility could make him an ideal addition to Liverpool's midfield, providing a much-needed injection of dynamism and creativity. His energy and athleticism could also help take some of the pressure off the defenders, something which has plagued Liverpool for a while. Gravenberch would be a perfect fit for Liverpool, and if Bellingham isn't acquired, he is likely going to be the next consideration.

Michael Olise Could Be an Interesting Pick

Another player who could potentially fill Liverpool's midfield void is Michael Olise. The 21-year-old Frenchman has been one of the standout performers in the Premier League throughout the past couple of seasons, showcasing his impressive technical ability and composure on the ball.

Olise is a highly-regarded prospect and has already showcased his outstanding skill at such a young age. His potential, combined with his existing ability, could make him an excellent long-term addition to Liverpool’s attacking options. He’d offer cover for Mo Salah on the right of the attack while also potentially being able to play in an advanced midfield role.

He also happens to be a favourite when it comes to sports betting in South Africa - if bettors are willing to wage their money on a player, you can get a pretty good idea of just how good Michael Olise is. Michael Olise is a phenomenal player in all regards, and he would make a great addition to the squad if Bellingham is out of the picture.

Harvey Barnes Could Be a Surprise Consideration

In terms of attacking reinforcements, Liverpool could target Harvey Barnes. This midfielder has already proved to be a key player in Leicester City, and it seems as though he has the potential to play for a bigger team. If Leicester are relegated he will certainly move on and possibly for a cut price deal.

Barnes is an explosive and clinical attacking midfielder who could add a new dimension to Liverpool's attack and midfield. He is versatile enough to play out wide or in a deeper attacking role, giving Liverpool more options in the final third.

Having a player like Harvey Barnes in their ranks would give Liverpool so much more versatility, while also helping with the home grown quota.

Levi Colwill Could Bolster Liverpool’s Backline

Last but certainly not least, Liverpool could look to bolster their defensive options by signing Levi Colwill. The Chelsea centre-back has been on loan at Brighton this season, and while he has found appearances hard to come by given the outstanding form of Brighton’s first choice defensive pairing, he is very highly rated and on the transfer radar os several top clubs including the Reds.

The 20 year old is a quick, agile defender with excellent positional sense who would provide an excellent long-term replacement for Liverpool's ageing centre-backs, as well as add depth to their backline.

Colwill would be an excellent pick for Liverpool who has the potential to flourish into something special, and the benefits he could bring to the team would make his acquisition a shrewd bit of business.

Overall, while Liverpool may miss out on Jude Bellingham, there are several other players who could potentially strengthen their squad. Whether it’s a dynamic midfielder like Olise or Gravenberch, an explosive mid-attacker like Harvey Barnes, or a promising defender like Colwill, Liverpool has several options to choose from as they look to rebuild their squad for the future.

It is going to be interesting to see what happens to Liverpool over the next year. It seems as though Liverpool is currently doing everything in its power to improve, and the results of this should be reflected in a big summer. Let’s just hope whoever they bring in is able to embolden the team even further.
