  1. Today it dawned on me from reading posts like this that at least 70% of our so-called suporters have no patience, no real love for the club, no idea what it stands for, and no clue about what it takes to be a Red. A proper Red. It's absolutely shameful. Let's sack Kenny, get rid of Henderson and Carroll, get Mourinho in, sign Messi, Iniesta, I want it and I want it NOW and blah, blah, fucking blah. You all think you know better don't you... Well, here's some advice for any gobshite who agrees with that opening post: go press the red button on your Sky remote, then shove it as far up your silly young disrespectful arses as it will possibly go. Then, when it's gone as far as it can, push it a little further. I don't often post on here because, I've said before, most times what I want to say gets covered by someone else and I don't clog the debate. However, the dickheads are now firmly in the ascendancy at what has sadly become Bellend Central and I've had enough. This is in no way in disrespect to Dave and all the great work he does and any other good lads and lasses out there, but I'm off to support my club and I won't be back. I suspect I won't be missed.
  2. "Suárez feels wronged and the Liverpool fanbase agrees with him. But this is not Ian Callaghan. Suárez is obnoxious. He bites people, he handles on the line in crucial World Cup games, he is a horrible, niggly cheat". First sentence - correct. Second sentence - correct. Although I'm not Ian Callaghan either and neither is my wife. Third sentence - obnoxious? Meaning: liable to do harm or evil or attack; offensive, objectionable, disliked. Now I don't know Luis personally, but I'd contend that he's probably no more 'liable to do harm or evil or attack' than anyone else. Personally I don't find him objectionable and enjoy the obvious appetite and enthusiasm he plays the game with. He's disliked? I wonder why..? Last sentence - he bit someone once as far as we know. He bites suggests he does it habitually which isn't probably true, is it? He handled on the line in a crucial world cup game, just the same as anyone else in his situation would have. Remember Terry McDermott in the 1981 League Cup Final? Horrible? That's personal opinion, not fact and on balance of probability (now where've I heard that before..?) probably not true, either. And as for him being a cheat? Worse than Gareth Bale, you mean? Off the top of my head, in our games alone this season I've seen far worse dives from Bale, Phil Jagielka, Tim Howard, Scotty 'gawd bless 'im' Parker and even Stewart Downing! And let's not forget Modric at Wolves, either. What's that, a niggly cheat, you say? I bet he even swears! Nice one, Tony. Throw another pile of shite onto the fire, will you?
  3. I don't tend to post much because usually, someone hits the nail on the head for me and I don't clutter the thread. In this case Razor, it's you who's done it for me. There's just one point I don't agree with. I think Luis has far more integrity than anyone gives him credit for. Far more. As for Kenny? If no one is bigger than the club, then this man is certainly the same size for me. He is our greatest living and one of the greatest ever servants of this club. Everything he does is to support and stand up for the good name of Liverpool Football Club and all it represents. And now he's made to feel he's acted unworthily of a Liverpool manager? Well, not for me he hasn't. Far from it. In the face of appalling, sensation-seeking journalism this man has been and remains a beacon of truth and decency. And our american 'owners' (although let's not forget who the true owners of this club are...) make him apoligise to protect their 'brand'? Well, fuck them. I think it was David Moores who coined the phrase that 'Liverpool FC only has one purpose and that's to win trophies'. I've never agreed with that. You see to me, Liverpool FC has also always been a 'design for life', if you like. A code of behaviour, decency and dignity. It stands for more than just football for me. For the past year it seemed we've had the true LFC back, and albeit the road to success may be long, it seemed that at least when we got there we'd have done it the Liverpool way. The way we'd all want it. Kenny Dalglish embodies everything my club stands for, and for him to be made to feel the need to apologise to protect the 'brand' has, I'll lay anything on it, broken his heart. My own opnion is that, for the good of their health / well being, Luis should leave this rotten society and Kenny should just walk away. Although this would be so sad I wouldn't blame either of them, because neither of them deserve what they've been put through. Evil prospers when good men do nothing.
  4. Brilliant post San Don. Although maybe I shouldn't have expected any better, I'm still in total disbelief at how the majority of journalists, anti-racism campaigners and, sadly, football people who should well know and respect all that Liverpool FC - and Kenny Dalglish - stand for have been and remain so steadfastly unwilling to see past the obvious agenda and search for the truth in this matter in order to sell a few newspapers, pull in a few extra viewers or to preserve their press pass for Old Trafford. That they are wilfully taking part in the assassination of not only a man's sporting career, but also his personal reputation which will also impact in future upon his wife, child and wider family is nothing short of shameful. From Ferguson's (easily the most horrible, contemptible individual to ever make a living out of football in this country) "he dives everywhere" comments, which gave groundswell to the disgraceful provocation Luis' gesture reacted to at Fulham to this whole 'racism' case, this has been quite simply the most merciless, evil and institutionalised campaign I can remember against any single footballer in this country. I doubt it's over yet. For me, the reputations stained in this matter are those of the FA, each member of the 'independent' panel, every journalist covering Manchester United who 'drip fed' bias against Luis in this matter from the start (I wonder where their briefings came from...), 'Sir' Alex Ferguson, Evra, and any other journalist who disgracefully refuses to even try to expose the whole agenda. Dare I say it's beyond the pale? I'm very proud of Liverpool FC for the statements they've made in this matter. I think they've been very dignified. Why should they or Luis accept something that is unjust? Would any of the journalists involved accept it if they were in Luis shoes? No. As Kenny alluded to last night, I suspect that more will only come out in years to come when some of the peole involved publish books when no longer involved in the game. Until then, these gutter journalists and the vast majority of football supporters in this country whose only thoughts on the game are those that are put there by the media (after all, why bother 'finking' for yourself if someone else'll do it for you?) have got a stick to beat us with whenever they want. And although I'm not sure how I'll even manage to do it myself, I think it's up to all us Reds to now stand tall and dignified in the face of one of the saddest episodes involving not only our club but also football and the continuing fight against racism in this country. I'm not a betting man, but if I were, I'm sad to say I suspect that some money on Luis to either be sold this month at his own request, or - if he stays past January - to be sent off at Old Trafford, or to maybe then leave in the summer might very possibly bear fruit. I hope I'm wrong on all three, though. I absolutely hate football. I absolutely love Liverpool FC.
  5. I've been registered on here since 2005, and am an admittedly infrequent poster (this is only my 26th in all that time I think...) as I often find that someone usually says what I'm thinking for me so I don't clutter the debate. That said, I'm compelled to reply to the above, another posting which makes me really fearful for the future of our support. Some of the people on here really have got no idea what it takes or what it means to support this club. Growing up with LFC (and yes, being lucky enough to see us win the lot on numerous occasions) I and many others no doubt learned from the example of my fellow Reds how to support our team. I shudder to think what our fans will be like in another twenty / thirty years time if stuff like the above is the example being passed down. We all want to win every game, all want success for LFC, but this 'I want it NOW!!!' generation depress me. They just don't seem to have a clue what being a Red means. I'm proud to say that, as the song says, I got my education from the Kop. Unfortunately it seems to me there's a great many of our support aged around 35 or under who got theirs from their Sky remote. Let me ask you this, Mitch: if last week De Gea had made only two of the three vital saves he made to keep United in the match and we'd beaten them 2-1 (which no-one would have said we didn't deserve), and then yesterday Ruddy had tipped Suarez's effort onto the inside of the Kop goalpost from where it bounced into goal and we'd ended up winning 2-1 (a scoreline which would undeniably have flattered Norwich completely), would Kenny still be 'the man'? I know if my auntie had bollocks she'd've been my uncle and all that, but - this just in -sometimes in football you don't always get what you deserve, and while there is an argument for stating that our profligate finishing has cost us four points in two games, to even begin to question Kenny's management is breathtakingly ridiculous. Off my chest, I'm off to lurk again...
  6. Your so-called 'points' are - being kind - knee-jerking rubbish. Whereas mine are spot-on.
  7. Erm, what's the best way of phrasing this...? Here you go - an utterly embarrassing post. Might I suggest that it is you, Sir, as a fan, who is not Liverpool quality?
  8. Another shocking example of our 'manager' motivating his players. Shanks would be so proud that this utter balloon occupies his office...
  9. Respect your opinion, Goatboy, but for me, in the modern era, even though Souness is third - behind Dalglish and Barnes - on my all-time players list, I can't agree that either Yeats, Smith, Hughes, Thompson, Hansen or Gerrard were / are simply 'marvellous captains'. Each typified what LFC is all about easily as much as he did, if not more.
  10. I wouldn't like to see Rafa sacked from Inter, because - not that I follow it too deeply - he seems to be doing alright there to me. However, if it were to happen, I think NESV should move heaven and earth to turn it to our advantage and get him back. I've said on here before that although last season was undeniably poor, the job he did with Gillett and Hicks (remember them?) at his back was as good if not better than anyone else could have done. If Rafa was able to just be a coach without having to be a politician and watching his back all the time, that freedom - plus backing from the new owners - would be something he'd relish and I personally would love to see this happen. Obviously he'd instantly have the media agenda - further boosted by the obvious 'look what they've done to dear old Roy, a gentleman and blah, blah, etc, etc' as well as Ferguson's managerial posse to deal with all over again, but as long as he was getting results for LFC I don't think he'd care. Give me an LFC manager who's proud to be just that, will stand up for the club, the players and the fans, who might just build us a team that could play football like the last three months of 2008/09 on a consistent basis, who has even been known to have given us some of the best nights in the club's history and won some of the game's big prizes over the defence-at-all-costs, two rigid banks of four at all times, unambitious, no expectaions, we've got a point let's keep it or even try and throw it away by defending deep after we've taken the lead, destination: mediocrity surrender-monkey we've got now. Getting rid of Rafa has proven to be disastrous. Getting him back would put the hope back in my heart. Breathes out, calms down. Stops dreaming. Probably not going to happen though, is it?
  11. Apologies if anyone's posted anything similar to this - I admit I haven't read every post in this thread, but here goes: 'Director of Football Strategy'? Am I missing something, but isn't that supposed to be the manager? Who was 'Director of Football Strategy' under Shankly, Paisley, Fagan, Dalglish and even Roy, Gerard and Rafa? Strategy? What, like, try and buy players at least as good as your opponents with the ability to pass the ball to a red shirt, to move and support the man in possession and who can put the ball into the opposition's net more than they do in ours? Am I just out of tune with LFC or with modern football in general, because this doesn't sound like LFC to me? I hope I'm wrong - very wrong - but this all sounds a bit like like 'fiddling while Rome burns'. Genuinely, good luck, Monseiur Comolli.
