Bonus point given instead. This table is not going to please everyone, but it has been a long season and we need to focus on ALL OF IT, not just Kenny's reign since January. I'd like to give my own view and then leave the thread for people to agree or disagree. 1. Gerrard as winner: A lot of people (quite rightly) have given Lucas praise for finally showing what he is capable of. I have always backed him not least for never hiding. I would suggest that Stevie deserves this award though for keeping his form at a time when we badly struggled. Cast your mind back to those dark times when we suffered watching our team. Stevie was the only player on the park at times worthy of the shirt. 2. How unlucky is Lucas? The season ended too soon for him really. I understand that the last result may have been affected by sentiment, (was he really 2nd best player or did we all want him to beat Stevie to this award?) but he has had a very good season. Hopefully he will carry the form on and continue to improve. 3. Luis Suarez: WOW! The fact he only played a fraction of games and finished with 7 MOM performances shows what an impact he has made. Amazing. 4. Andy Carroll: Not quite the same impact but even so, he hasn't done bad just playing a handful of games. Next season should be worth waiting for. 5. Reina too many bonus points? I feel that his position was given too much of a boost by awarding a bonus point for each clean sheet. Others have also mentioned that this is down to the defence/team as a whole and perhaps the bonus point should be reduced to a third or a quarter. Please advise me on your thoughts for next year. I am happy to alter the bonus point weighting. 6. Our best defenders: Common sense says Carragher and Agger, but a look at the table reveals Glen Johnson and Soto Krygiakos; hell even Kelly before his injury showed us what he is capable of. 7. Please discuss the impact (since January / Kenny) of Flanagan, Maxi and Shelvey. Exciting times ahead. Finally, I would like to thank everyone for voting this season and previous seasons. You make it a pleasure. Previous winners of this game are: 2005 - Jamie Carragher 2006 - Steven Gerrard 2007 - Dirk Kuyt 2008 - Javier Mascherano 2009 - Xabi Alonso 2010 - Javier Mascherano Please raise your glasses and toast the winner of the 2011 Player of the season award.... STEVEN GERRARD!

  3. Prem: Gerrard on Lucas | Setanta Steven Gerrard has told the Liverpool supporters to stop criticising under-fire midfielder Lucas Leiva. The Brazil international, 22, has been booed by his own fans this season as he has struggled to find his best form and recently admitted that ‘some people don't trust me yet’. However, he has already received the full backing of boss Rafa Benitez, and Gerrard has now called on the Liverpool fans to get behind the player as he develops. “The criticism he receives does get to me,” he said in the Daily Star Sunday. “I think people forget he’s 22 years old. He’s not 27 or 28. “I remember what I was like at that age and I look at where I am now. “I know that I’m a one-million-percent better player now. I got better with experience. “I made mistakes and learned and it has helped me become the player I am. “Lucas is a good player and I know he’ll continue to get better.” Gerrard has also called for critics to recognise the contribution of the rest of the squad after the team’s recent impressive run. Gerrard and Fernando Torres have taken most of the plaudits after the impressive victories over Real Madrid, Manchester United and Aston Villa, but the club captain feels it has been a team effort. "It's an absolute privilege to captain this football club at any time, but especially when the team is playing the way it is," he said. "It makes my job an awful lot easier when you don't have to talk too much to players because they are just doing their jobs without that being needed. "Confidence is really high right now and we're certainly enjoying playing together. We are playing without fear and without anxiety and I think you're seeing some superb football from us in the last couple of weeks. "I'm playing with magnificent players. Torres and myself have had a lot of pats on the back of late, but it's important to acknowledge our teammates who have been fantastic. "That's from the goalkeeper and the defence right through to the front. "The two full backs have been magnificent lately, the centre backs have been the same. I could go right through the team and everyone is doing their job properly. “Long may that continue and hopefully it will right up until the end of the season. "If we keep playing the way we have been over the last three games then it's going to be an exciting finish." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Gerrard really has matured into a true Captain Marvel. The guy is a fucking LEGEND.
  4. How did this fucking skulduggery slip through employment law? Just because I don't smoke why does that mean I'm not allowed to 'nip out' for the odd five minutes roughly every hour and congregate near the back door with assorted other ne'er-do-wells? Could be something to do with the fact higher management has been infiltrated with the smelly bastards, sometimes even at director level, and they're often there too 'having a drag'. It's like some fucking menthol Illuminati. I bet it helps with promotion prospects too, and speeding up I.T requests.
