  1. IMO, hodgson should have been replaced as soon as NESV \ FSG took over. They didnt and he's still here, just. But, if there isnt a fax \ email \ telephone car waiting for hodgson on the team bus after this result (blackburn) the question has to be asked 'why not?' What are FSG wanting or waiting for now? The fans have clearly had enough. The players have had enough despite saying stuff to the contrary. What logical reason is there for FSG not sacking hodgson with immediate effect? They cant use the 'we've no ceo in place yet.'
  2. Yes according to Jonthan Northcroft ( who appears on LFCTV and seems a red in his writing) on today's Sunday Supplement. Mainly around the short-term and the repeated comparison with the Arsenal model ( they maybe be able to kick on now they are getting the revenues from the new stadium but for all their pretty football last five years have no silverware to show for it). Basic message that this is about long term turn around and no evidence of any short term fix. Although Henry told journalists this week that he recongnises that success on the field has to come first to drive the revenues off the pitch. This week Henry was smoozing with a collection of journos giving them they..' if you had a blank piece of paper what would you do....' Andy Dunn said he did the same at Red Sox and then never spoke with the jounos for the next three years ( Supporter groups who think you have his ear take note, make hay while the sun shines if true). Northcroft did say that there was no mention about the director of football (strategy) and the next day he was appointed. So the guys are working steathly. He also said Roy is on probation. I think back to the night the deal was done in the offices of Slaughterhouse and May when Henry said ..' we are the second biggest spenders in baseball..' so hopefully they can replicate in short order. We should all continue to be wary of their intentions and , as they say, judge them by their actions. Early days but clearly better than the other two jokers. If they deliver the head of Roy before Christmas I will know we have the right owners with the savy to kick on in the short run.
  3. Boston Red Sox owners meet Liverpool council to discuss Reds stadium plans - Liverpool Local News - News - Liverpool Echo A DECISION on Liverpool FC’s stadium plans must be made within six months, city council bosses ruled today. Leader Joe Anderson met with Reds new owners New England Sports Ventures (NESV) yesterday before the game against Blackburn. Top of the agenda was discussions on whether the Boston Red Sox chiefs will modernise Anfield or build a new stadium. With planning permission for the proposed 60,000-capacity Stanley Park ground due to expire in April, Liverpool council is asking for a decision before that date. Cllr Anderson met with NESV bosses for a 90-minute breakfast chat where he was introduced to Tom Werner, new Anfield directors David Ginsberg and Michael Gordon, and Red Sox chief executive Sam Kennedy. The new owners have not set a deadline on when a stadium decision might be made. Both sides, said Cllr Anderson, agreed patience was needed as NESV undertook a financial assessment of the club’s position. And even a potential groundshare with Everton entered the discussion. Cllr Anderson told the ECHO: “The meeting went really well. I let them know how the council and Anfield residents had gone the extra mile to make the park available and how we had waited so long for things to happen. “I said I couldn’t make promises to allow for any time that was truly not needed or exaggerated. “They’ve rightly asked for a bit of time to assess the financial situation and for us to be patient. “We discussed ground-share as one of many options. Overall, they want to see the state of Melwood and the ground, and we can look forward to a positive relationship with them. “I’m not going to slam down any ultimatums, but they know how determined I am for progress.” Cllr Anderson will meet again with NESV in a fortnight, most likely ahead of Liverpool’s game against Chelsea at Anfield. The council favours a new stadium rather than an extension of Anfield because it would bring regeneration to the area. NESV are yet to reveal their hand on which option they favour, although the Red Sox invested in their existing Fenway Park stadium instead of building a new arena, which some observers believe is significant. Cllr Anderson added: “My responsibility is to the people of Anfield. If we get to April without a decision, Liverpool city council will make a decision. I’ll be looking at proposals (for Stanley Park) in terms of a Plan B. “The government has taken away £45m a year from this council and money from the Housing Market Renewal Fund to create housing in Anfield has now been put into the Regional Growth Fund so we’re competing with the whole of the country. “The owners were fully aware of our role behind the scenes in the removal of Hicks and Gillett when we told them we wouldn’t support the renewal of their planning application.” ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tell the shite to fuck off. Tell the council to fuck off. Do whats best for us.
