  2. Live hand grenade found outside home of Liverpool legend Kenny DalglishBy Daily Mail Reporter Last updated at 7:26 PM on 26th April 2011 Add to My Stories A live hand grenade was found on a garden wall at the home of Liverpool football legend Kenny Dalglish after two youths attempted a terrifying attack on a neighbour. Two young men were caught on CCTV carrying the deadly device and it was later discovered outside the former player and manager’s house as police searched the area after two men were allegedly seen with a gun. CCTV footage of two youths and a homemade grenade, circled, which was later found on Kenny Dalglish's wall The Army’s bomb disposal team was called after a tip-off to the home he shares with wife Marina in Southport, Merseyside, and the street was cordoned off for the public’s safety. It is not known if anybody was at the Dalglish home when the alarm was raised at around 10.15pm. Kenny Dalglish, who wasn't home when the grenade was found, is pictured here at the recent funeral of Denise Hendry Local businessman John Ball, who has this year seen his home shot at and several of his businesses firebombed, reportedly called police saying he thought a shadowy pair lurking outside his front gates had a gun. But before officers arrived two men sped away in a silver-coloured Lexus, which was found dumped nearby. A police helicopter was called to the scene and two men, aged in their 20s, were arrested a short time later on suspicion of witness intimidation. After the arrests, officers searched the area and it was then that the grenade was found on top of the garden wall on Sunday night.. A Merseyside Police spokeswoman said: ‘The device was removed and made safe and is currently undergoing forensic examination. ‘The road remains cordoned off and high-visibility patrols have been stepped up in the area to reassure the public. ‘Detectives believe this incident is linked to a series of other recent incidents in this area and not to the owner of the property where the device was found.’ Mr Dalglish, who returned to Liverpool FC as a director of the youth academy, was returning to the UK yesterday after attending the club’s tour of the Far East. He scored 174 goals for the team as a player and won the league five times as a player and three times while the side’s manager between 1985 and 1991. Police at the cordoned off area in Southport. A police spokeswoman said the grenade was removed, made safe and is undergoing forensic examination He was in charge of the club during the 1989 Hillsborough disaster when 96 Liverpool fans were crushed to death during an FA Cup semi-final match. Ten days ago he attended the funeral of Denise Hendry, the wife of former Blackburn star Colin Hendry, who helped Mr Dalglish win the league for that club in 1995. Liverpool FC said it had received no information about the grenade incident and would not comment.
