Is there only one form of 100%? Can a player only ever give a certain amount of effort, regardless of any motivational tactics used? Some argue that if a player can give a massive effort one week for whatever reason, then it should be able to be replicated week in, week out, using whatever means necessary to achieve it.
To use Liverpool as an obvious example. do you expect a player to be more geared up for a game against the mancs or blues as opposed to a game against, say, Stoke or WBA? Or do you expect the same 100% effort, regardless of the opposition? Or do believe that certain occasions/circumstances (an anniversary such as the upcoming one or even an unfavourable article about a player stuck to his locker door) allow for a greater capacity of effort, meaning that a player's 100% one week is able to be greater than the same player's 100% the next?
It's something that I've thought about a bit and I'm quite curious to hear other people's thoughts and opinions on the topic. :)
