  1. Goal: Benayoun Assist: Aurelio Man of the match: benayoun Reina - 8 made the saves he had to make and looked assured all night. Arbeloa - 7 much better than he has been of late. dealt with Marcelo (was that his name) in the first half and Robben in the second. Skrtel - 7 Has he been playing on the left side of central defence recently? He was right side last night and could have played in his slippers. Carragher - 8 mature performance. Tackled, covered and ordered the defence. Captains performance Aurelio - 8 linked up well with Riera and great delivery for the goal. Defended well against Robben, their only threat. wrap him up in cotton wool and stick him a drawer. Mascherano - 8 back to his best last night. Smashing into tackles and breaking up the play. Alonso - 8 apart from the goal my favourite moment of last night was when alonso waited for the opponent to dive in and spun the ball over him and away. class. poor delivery from a free kick and also should have shot earlier when he had chance but delayed it and was blocked. Token effort from his own half also. Benayoun - 9 buzzed about all night and was involved in some of the one touch football triangles we were playing from the get-go. A lot of the time he over does it by trying to beat another man but he gets chances and makes things happen and doesn't shy away from the work when we don't have the ball. Kuyt - 8 did well in the air and was a good foil for Torres. Got away with a few things i.e. his "apocalyptic" first touch wasn't punished last night as madrid gave us so much time and space. Worked his balls off as usual. Riera - 5 poor last night particularly in the first half but worked well with Aurelio in stifling robben. Torres - 5 got the shit kicked out of him by Pepe but managed one decent effort that was saved by Casillas. pray he's not injured. subs: babel - 6 I think he done as much as could be asked of him. he held the ball up when he got it and looked to get in behind them. Gerrard - n/a good to see him back Lucas - n/a Rafa - 10 have to give him top marks for another sterling european away performance against the biggest club in the world, though this team doesn't deserve to rank amongst the great madrid sides, you can only beat what is put in front of you. I wondered how someone like stoke, that has given us so much trouble this season would compete against Madrid. They'd be difficult to play against but they would be missing one crucial element and thats experience. we are so experienced in this competition, we are almost perfection over 2 legs. I thought madrid gave us a lot of time and space and we completely dominated them. now we have to put them away at anfield. I think it would be crazy for rafa to leave or be sacked before the end of the season, there is clearly a lot to play for.
  2. Rumours going round on 5 Live that Wenger might be leaving this summer after disagreements with board member Danny Fitzman. Fitzman is apparently pissed off that experienced players don't get replaced properly and there are players at the club (Van Persie, Fabregas) who want to leave if they don't win anything thise season. So long without a trophy and a soft center in his team was always going to come home to roost. I wonder where he will end up... Man City?

    Our youngsters!

When are we going to see some of our promising yougsters actually show some signs of developing, compared to the Arsenal yougsters ive seen nothing to get excited about.

Anyone been there for a city break? Me and the missus are thinking of going early in the new year (Unless things work out well in the CL, then i'm off there with the boys in May). I was just wondering if anyone had any good tips of where about to stay and what not. You know the score. Thanks.
  5. Jeff Stelling et al at Sky are all wanking furiously over them. I hope Wigan fucking trounce 'em.
