  1. Discussing his unorthodox interception against Stoke, Toure told The Guardian: “José Enrique called it ‘The salmon tackle’. I am very proud of this. It’s something I have brought to football!

“I give everything for my team to win but the most important thing is to enjoy every second of every minute. Football is great, isn’t it?

“That is the mentality you need to have as a defender; when you are a defender at a top club every challenge is so important,” Touré added. “That’s why you play for the best club. If I have to make this tackle again I will make it. That was my time to show I can still produce for my team and for me as well.

“I had to stay on. You don’t want to give up and leave your team on their own at this time in a game. We had so many injuries and players going out, too, but to be honest it was only cramp. I managed to finish the game as a striker, which is not too bad.

“Afterwards the manager took a picture of me in the ice bath and made a few jokes. He knows I’m a fighter and that, whenever he needs me, I will step in and give my best for the team. I’m playing for one of the best clubs in the world at 34. Not many players can say that. I enjoy every minute and I am proud to be in this squad of players.”

  2. I have very few concerns regarding Klopp and the transfer policy, but extending Mignolet makes no sense. He had 2 1/2 years left on his deal, why the fuck did we need to extend him? It's not like his contract is expiring soon and he is going to lose value. He certainly doesn't merit it because of his play either. He's average at best and embarrassing at worst.

    This is a nonsensical decision.

  3. Even though this is only a loan and an emergency signing because we don't even have one fit centre back and he was probably the only one we could get in time for tomorrow, I will use this opportunity to call all members of the transfer committee retarded for not considering Thiago Silva or Jerome Boateng. I think this is also a sign that Klopp will always be marginalized in the transfer market and that he clearly has been duped by FSG. The transfer committee will have all the power.

I also think that this 5 month emergency loan is also completely indicative of how far we have fallen as a club and that, entirely because of Steven Caulker, we will fall further into despair and we'll soon find ourselves fighting off relagation in League Two with the likes of York City and Yeovil.

  4. Sky reporting that Lewis Grabban will go to Bournemouth for 7 million pounds. They have already signed Benik Afobe for 10 million pounds The money circulating in the Premier League is officially retarded.

Henri Saivet to Newcastle is done. Good signing, thought he was really impressive against us and he is highly rated.

Cadena COPE reporting that Man United reps are in Madrid negotiating to sign Saul Niguez of Atletico

  5. Do people not realize that over the last 5 years, Spurs have the lowest net spend of all Premier League teams and that we have spent more than 100 million pounds more than them?

No one is saying they have an amazing squad or that it's that much better than ours. The problem is that they have comparable talent to us yet spend much less. Not to mention they now regularly finish above us almost every season.

Spurs and Daniel Levy are regularly mocked for the way the club is run and year in year out they are labeled as "bottlers" which is a little weird considering we have been far more incompetent than them on and off the pitch.

  6. They've finished above us almost every season in recent memory. I have no idea where this arrogance that we are better than them comes from. They spend a lot less money as well so the fact there is even a debate on who's squad is better is indicative of our incompetence.

  7. It's pretty clear why Rodgers bought him. His job was on the line and he needed someone who could score goals. That's exactly what Benteke does, he is a "Premier League proven" 1 in 2 goal scorer.

There is and was no stylistic reason for it. It was entirely born out of the desperation. Just as much fault should be accorded to the people who wouldn't sack Rodgers or for giving him money to spend at the end of last season.

  8. His general play is absolutely dreadful. You basically need to avoid him like the plague in the build-up because he'll lose the ball in an instant. I remember seeing a stat that the amount of times he get's dispossessed is ridiculously high and his pass accuracy is ridiculously low.

And this isn't just because he used to play for a dreadful Villa side. When you watch him play for Belgium, the likes of Hazard, De Bruyne, Mertens, etc. have no idea what to do with him besides crossing it and it's the same here. Nevermind Coutinho or Firmino, you could see today that even most of the youth players avoided passing it to him in tight areas.

Not to mention that he looks physically shot. I think his achilles must still be bothering him as there is no other possible explanation why he's lost the ability to run fast or even jump to win headers. He's always been poor technically but at least when he first came to England he used to be able to run and to dominate defenders physically. He can't even do that anymore.

Even disregarding the fact that imo he's lost some athleticism, I do feel bad for the guy because everyone knew what we were getting when we were buying him; a striker with a good scoring record but pretty limited skill wise and coming off a debilitating injury. He's not meant to be Zlatan with the ball at his feet and if Rodgers and the club thought he would be than that's their fault, not Benteke's.

Basically, the only way we'll be able to be effective with him is to constantly pump balls into the box and hope he finishes one of them off. He'll offer absolutely nothing else besides that.

  9. Pato would give us exactly what we need upfront.

He has been playing as a winger in Brazil and we've needed a wide player who can score for the longest time.

Could obviously play upfront as well, and he's pretty much over his injury issues so the risk isn't very high in that respect.

It's still a boom or bust signing seeing as he's deteriorated a bit from his younger days and he hasn't been playing in a challenging league, but he would be worth the 15 million euros imo

  10. Ojo is our best youngster by miles imo, has the physical tools to make it and looks alright technically as well.

Its obvious from this game that the only way we'll ever look threatening with Benteke on the pitch is to do a Moyes and try to cross it to him every single time because even against a league 2 side his technique isn't good enough for us to play it to him on the floor.
