If Salah decides to run down his contract, he would probably continue to chase his records and I don't think he would be downing tools or anything like, unless there is a major falling out with the new management as well. That is not in his nature.
I think everyone has enough respect for his professionalism and knows it won't be about downing tools. It'll be about potentially carrying a passenger in the 11 when we're defending, off the ball, tactical considerations, stuff like that.

I'm generally on the "he's useless" side, but he's winning me over a tiny bit. He does stuff in matches that's exciting.
I don't think we need him and Jones, though. They aren't different enough and they're close to the same age. We might as well get rid of one of them.

I'd keep Diaz. The season we were going for the quadruple he really pushed us on. That player's still in there, you see it in flashes. Plus, he puts in a shift. Playing with two other mobile forwards who could hit a cow's arse with a banjo helped, mind.
I think we'll see Salah see out his contract, move centrally, and a right winger brought in. Someone who can run that flank all day, and not stray too much inside.
The big question, for me, is how we approach the midfield. We've two starters, and a load of "can do a job"s.
I think if we sign a 6 that performs, things will fall into place clearly.

If Diaz's dad isn't pushing for him to leave all summer then I'm more than happy with Diaz and Gakpo taking the left sided attacker spot with Jota being the 3rd man up (Jota and Gakpo also being the alternative for the #9 role).
They're the only three I'm 100% on going into next season with.
Everything else is dependent on what happens with Nunez and Salah.
It's impossible to tell what we'll do, imo because I think the whole concept behind our attack is to have 5 of them who collectively kind of hide the individuals' weaknesses and presumably the person who came up with this in Klopp is leaving.
And so with a new manager/board, what profiles we keep is kind of up in the air. Do Edwards/Hughes/Slot want to get rid of the striker with technical deficiencies, the winger who runs with his head down and can't finish, the forward who isn't much of a goal threat, the forward who isn't really a winger, nor lone striker who also misses 2 months every season.
And then Salah is a seperate issue.

I meant to say sell Nunez and salah.
I wouldn't be looking to move Diaz on yet. A decent centre forward would see Diaz bagging 20 assists with ease
I think Diaz could play with Ronaldo and he'd struggle to get 10 assists. He doesn't combine with anybody.

If Nunez, Jota or Gakpo all stay, I don't see how the club justifies buying a striker.
If Slot likes wide players, he's probably gonna want wingers, not to move one or some of those 3 out wide.

This.
I'd love to see Mo playing behind the striker. His passing and vision is exceptional. Bit like when Molby and Barnes got older/injuries and became more playmakers.
He already sort of is playing behind the striker. His statistical profile has changed since Nunez got to the club. More progressive passes and he isn't taking players on out wide.

I got Zoloft prescribed a month ago for my health anxiety and haven't started taking it yet because I'm scared of side effects. My brain is absolutely dusted.

Keep him.
I’d give him an extra year on the deal to protect his value and allows both us and him to reassess after next year.
I think his decline in the second half of the year is because he’s been playing with an injury and trying to manage that. I’d stop that, going forward.
When he starts I wouldn’t have him playing 90 minutes very often, take him off penalties and use him from the bench if someone else is in better form.
He’s still a reliable source of goals and assists, so I wouldn’t be cutting our nose off to spite our face.
He wouldn't accept that and it's not a good use of 400k per week.

Who are you relying on to actually take the chances though. Especially if your plan is champions league football.
Jota never fit and can you put money on any of the rest to guarantee you goals?
It's a lot of goals and assists to lose without a top quality replacement. The system can only do so much when the players can't finish. Admittedly if the system means we stop conceding first it might go a fair way to stopping that.
Obviously depends who we sign aswell.
I think we have to see who we'd sign and what the combinations of players we can put on the pitch are. With Mané-Firmino-Salah, you just knew it made sense.
It's going to be way harder with Diaz and Nunez and their finishing, among other things is obviously a problem but the mindset if they're there has to be that it's a fresh start next season.

That could have been Romero's 3rd.

Slot won't have much say on it. It will likely be sorted before he even properly starts work. Edwards will have sounded out his age and if he's off will likely have spoken to the Saudis about a fee. It won't be close to last year's fee and I suspect rather than make them wait and drag it out for a extra 10ml or so we will agree a deal quickly so it's not a issue for Slot and we can start bringing players in.
The worry will be if Summerville type is viewed as a replacement and not a squad player because there no guarantee he will score enough goals. We have lost plenty of goals in the drop off from Mane to Diaz and Nunez league total is in Bobby range so another drop off from Salah to another 10-12 goal winger is massive
If the system is good, you probably don't need someone who scores a million goals. You can spread the goals around. City before Haaland, Arsenal now.

Tell you what we've been saying (as of afcon) that Salah form is shocking but Son at Tottenham has fallen off a cliff without Kane.
Son has 24 goals+assists. That's pretty much around what he does every season.

The Arsenal thing is simple in terms of the squad; the front 4, including Odegaard, are all technically very good and work hard, and then the rest of the side is just big and nasty.

Sobering viewing this. Arsenal are light years ahead of us in all departments.
No one's ever light years ahead of anyone in football.

Arsenal are just a different proposition. Big, pragmatic and nasty.

This game is like a prime Mourinho team playing against some naive bambi.

Deserved goal for Spurs.
Edit: not gonna count

Salah's a great player but he's not one of the best of all time. He doesn't get to try to big dick Jurgen Klopp when he's playing like garbage. This isn't Messi or Ronaldo.
-
I mean, it's absolutely clear that the best thing would be moving on. Even just putting aside whether he is declining or not, you have to factor in whether he will respect a guy like Arne Slot. Salah has a far bigger status in the game than Slot does. That's just a bad dynamic right there.

Unlike you I can be objective unless I’m in the ground. I don’t have to worship the ground these people walk on.
Nunez? Shows how mush you fucking know.
Maybe your best post ever.

The 3-4-3 thing to me is so irrelevant. It think he just showed his ass with some of his negotiating tactics. Don't think he's very well advised.
