I had absolutely no doubts about Klopp being right for us last time round, and I have absolutely no doubts about Xabi being right for the job now. Bit concerned by this talk of putting in a sporting director first.

We played more or less well with our starting eleven, but subs made us worse. Elliot and particularly Gravenberch were poor, and Gakpo just irritates me, as he always does that shield the ball movement even when a clear run towards goal is on and as a result seems too cumbersome.

Unhappy to report that Tierney is reffing us against Chelsea in a week’s time. What could possibly go wrong?

The Pope’s Exorcist. Almost unbearably bad. Russell Crowe speak half decent Italian, and seem to enjoy himself, and Franco Nero is the pope. The rest of the actors are irritating or incompetent, and the film can’t make up its mind if it wants to be some kind of buddy comedy or «scary». Feels as if they wanted this to be the start of a franchise, with new exorcisms around the world for every film… One would assume the power of Christ compels them not to. 2/10 cocks in hell.

We deserved the win, but bad luck and - shock- bad refereeing worked against us. Dom seemed shot the last 20 mins and Gravenberch was at best a comical relief. We were badly in need of another quality midfielder.

Endo’s been excellent. Gakpo and Diaz not so much.
