  1. Highly rated by virtually all Bundesliga commentators' date=' been bossing games at a young age (particularly for a CB) and the Russian clubs and Milan reportedly wanted him.

It was assumed he was out of our range, but injuries and the fact he's more than a touch mental have probably helped us.

Could go on to be a world beater or he could chin a ref whilst his knees simultaneously explode.[/quote']

So Ayre will probably put another bid in of around 20 million, "just to make sure" ;)

  2. OK fair enough. For me they aren't too bad as far as I can make out. Me lad on the other hand think's they're bang at it. Managed decline he reckons.

Just hope we hit the ground running early on and take it from there.

Dread to think what will happen if we get off to a piss poor start.

The problem with that is they don't benefit from managed decline.

They only benefit by building up the stadium and (to an extent) the team, so they can sell us on for a profit a few years down the line.

People seem to forget that the odd ten million here and there is fuck all to the people who own FSG.

  3. Should the Board prudently give a manager with only two years PL experience the hundreds of millions required to re-establish us as a CL side?

I'm assuming you've never heard of Dortmund, or Klopp.

Or will that be consigned to being a "one off" to suit your quite obvious agenda?

  4. I honestly think Moyes thought he was pulling some sort of "mind games" with this whole "They offered Mata + 10 million" bit.

The problem is no one with half a brain believed it and now he looks a fool (even if it were true, which it could never be, how stupid would he have to be to turn down that offer?). What's more, he managed to look like more of an ass than Mourinho, which takes some doing.

    What do you mean now?

    ;)

  5. Seems to bang the lid on a defensive mids coming in.

Still not entirely sure why people think we need one.

If you look at the way BR has us set up to play, our players get behind the ball and press in groups.

When we move out from the back, the 2 CB's split and go wide, whilst one of the deeper midfielders drops in between them, the fullbacks push up to halfway (to start with), so straight away there are 3 "out" balls, and we move up the pitch progressively, for the most part.

When we counter, we aren't getting everyone forwards because again, we move forwards in stages, pressing the opposition back.

This system needs quick CB's rather than a DM, because of the higher line, so a speedy CB is the priority for me rather than another DM.

  6. He will go to Madrid and certainly not for £50m . I read his buy out was 40

Expect him to hand in a request shortly

Looks like we will aint going get Mkhitaryan either. The whole thing has dragged on way too long and cant say I'm surprised.

Just shows how hard it is for us now in the transfer market.

The Echo reported a couple of weeks ago that the buy out clause was a load of bollocks, which came from someone at the club.

It may be brinkmanship, but I'd trust the Echo more than any of the national rags.

  7. Completely agree. He can do pretty much everything in an attacking sense.

He's also a set piece specialist and is able to consistently put the ball on a sixpence.

I'm sure he'll be able to adapt to the pace of the game over here as he's got a footballing brain just as Coutinho took virtually no time to settle.

I also think people get too hung up on size meaning strength.

Size has fuck all do to with strength.

I've worked with guys who weighed 9 stone soaking wet in denim, but were as strong as a fucking ox.

I think it's more about the pace of the prem than anything else with this lad, but if a player is good enough they will easily adapt.

Like Coutinho for example, a strong little fucker with bags of skill.

  8. This kid is going to be a cracking player for us as long as he adjusts to the prem.

He's clever, has an eye for a pass, a good shot, and is stronger than people seem to think.

This is a great bit of business, and I'd expect to see him in the first team sooner rather than later.

I think we have another gem.

  9. What high fucking horse? You appeared to be saying that the only problems we had were due to carragher and Gerrard which is a load of nonsense in all honesty. I've criticised both of them when I thought it fair. Our midfield does have weaknesses as does our defence and I doubt in the coming season it will be due to Gerrard, we need better mid fielders than Lucas, Henderson and Allen IMO.

ahhhh, I "appeared" to be saying.

    That clears it up then.

Nice to see you know better than the gaffer as well, y'know, because you see them in training every day, and know their respective strengths like the back of your hand.

Forget that Henderson is young (but still the u-21 skipper), as is Allen and that Lucas had a career threatening injury, not to mention Allen as well playing with an injury.

You keep right on fella - you know best, unlike the gaffer.

  10. So any problems, and there were problems, were down to two of our greatest ever players? I'm a big fans of Rodgers but there are things he needs to sort out and the problem is not Ste Gerrard.

Are you saying that Carra was quick, and that Stevie never went out of position?

As much as I love him as a player, positional discipline has never been the strongest part of his game, and in that deep position next to Lucas, he still tended to drift around.

So then instead of a holding 2, allowing the fullbacks to get forwards you get one player trying to cover 2 positions.

    It's never going to work.

It didn't happen all the time, and he became much, much better at holding his position as the season progressed.

Are you one of those who thinks that Carra and Gerrard should never, ever be criticised?

We all know how good they have both been for us over the years, and some of us were supporting Carra even when he was being booed by our own supporters, so I'd clamber down off that high horse if I was you fella, because no player is immune to criticism, and no player is bigger than the club.

  11. It really is you know.

Sides just marched straight down the middle last season.

That's your opinion, and fair enough.

    Mine differs.

I also don't remember teams marching straight through the middle as you are saying, and when our centre was vulnerable it was because of other factors than a DM, like Stevie going walkabout, as he is prone to do. Add our deep backline to that (because of Carra's lack of pace) and you have too much room for the opposition to exploit.

The whole point of buying CB's with more pace is to deny them that space.

Remember the old adage - make the pitch small when defending, and large when attacking.

Do that properly and you don't really need a DM at all.

  12. I know the window has barely opened, but i am somewhat concerned we havent really been linked to a defensively strong central midfielder, apart from that Wanyama stories back in may. Lucas has no real competition, and there are no guarantees he'll get back to where he was prior to his injuries. Apart from centre backs, that really should be our priority i feel.

Fair points, but I don't see a DM as a priority if our back 4 has some pace in it, and would rather we added some more quality further up the field, especially out wide, although saying that, I expect our wide players to swap positions more next season - i.e. a front 3 interchanging and no rigid roles.

  13. So false number 9's = dickheads

But "true number 10" = smart?

    Shut the fuck up

    hahahahaaaa

    what a fucking idiot.

    I was right first time.

You probably think andy townshend is a good commentator.

or like that other cunt, silverwhining who thought les ferdinand was world class.

We used to have the reputation of being the most knowledgeable fans.

Not any more judging by your comments.

    fucking aids spaz cunt.

  14.

lothar Matthaus was one of the finest footballers to play the game. Center back, sweeper or centre mid...he is a true legand and a brilliant all round player. Who gives a fuck where he retired?!

Zidane is also one of the best ever players to play the game and yes he is an all rounder. You don't have to track back, box to box, and make tackles to be classed all round.

Being creative, scoring goals, and being a brilliant passer is enough to be classes "all round"

Both were two of the finest players i've ever seen play the game. Gerrard is right next to them in that category too.

The list stated the last 20 years, and Mattahus has been retired for 13 of those.

Now if you want to say one of the best ever, I'll agree, but you can't put him in that timeframe when he hasn't been around for more than half of it.

Zidane was an attacking midfielder in the mould of a true number 10 - not a central midfielder at all, much less one of the best "all round" which is a meaningless term thrown around by fuckheads who talk about "false 9's" and used to cover up a complete lack of knowledge about the game.

    What a stupid person.

  15. Did Peter Beardsley come out of Uniteds academy? Doesn't count. Peter Beardsley can be mentioned in the same way as Wayne Rooney( being rejected by Liverpool is the only way he ended up at Everton). John Gidman, Ted McDougall, Michael Owen, Peter Davenport. Manchester United have had their fare share of Liverpool rejects.

That's an awful lot of shite in one post fella.

    Congratulations.

You were talking about players fucked off by utd, you were proven wrong, now you're trying to move the goalposts.

    Rooney rejected by Liverpool?

That is perhaps the strangest thing I've ever seen.

Rooney turned up for a trial in an everton kit, and refused to change out of it, then waited for everton to come calling.

    They did.

  16. Well I did not say that so I have no idea what they are talking about.

But it comes as no surprise people dont know how to get their quotes right, I'd me more surprised if they did.

Med time fella, you're talking to yourself again.

Now come on, you know what the doctor said...

  17. Guillem Balague ‏@GuillemBalague 22m

Fascinating move by de Laurentiis. Rafa has signed nothing yet but by announcing he has, he forces Real and PSG (and Rafa) into a decision

If Napoli president says a 2 year deal in place for Rafa is to put him under pressure. Negotiations...I know ppl prefer 2 ignore sutilities

haha, that's more likely to make Rafa say "Fuck off" than anything else.

By trying to be machiavellian that daft cunt has probably blown it.

  18. You say signing Kolo Toure a player of vast experience on a free transfer is accepting mediocrity. Then you want us to become the laughing stock of English football?

I'll tell you why we would become the laughing stock of English football. Shawcross is a Manchester United reject. There is not a chance in hell of Liverpool ever paying £15 million for a Manchester United reject. Baconface sold him for £2 million.

The person that said Zaha is better than Sterling. Raheem Sterling was playing premiership football at 17 years old. Zaha scored 1/3 of the goals Tom Ince( A liverpool reject) scored in the championship.

Don't give me this guff that Liverpool want to buy Ince back. That's media nonsense. Liverpool used this as a bluff tactic to generate other interest. There is a reason for this, if any club pays a large fee for Tom Ince, Liverpool get 35% of any profit made.

Supposing Tom Ince joins x club for £12 million, Liverpool get 35% of £11.7 million. The reason being Liverpool let him go for £300,000.

    Peter Beardsley.

    Fucked off by utd.

Might be time to revise that opinion.

  19. A mate of mine came out of the Paras about 18 months ago at RSM and now does anti-piracy on ships in the gulf. He finds it a bit dull but the money is good. It also gives us loads of ammo for jokes win/win.

Para's are great, fucking mad bastards the lot of them.

First met a few when I was doing my jump training, and it's a bit weird how they switch from slagging the shit out of you one second, to dead serious the next.

We'd be wheeling around on these little trolleys learning how to get stable in the air, and there'd be half a dozen of them ripping the absolute piss out of us.

    Funny as fuck.

  20. I think at his age, it really is best he moves on. Hes no youngster and is struggling to make a mark here - I knew he would go and to be honest, West Ham would be a great move for him.

It might also help convince Carroll to go there too, though i'm not sure just how good mates him and Jonjo are so thats pure guesswork.

He's only 21, hardly an old fart is he?

I'd prefer him to go on loan, and see if he can progress, although from all accounts he has an extremely high opinion of himself and can be a bit of a tit.

It would be a shame if he wasted his obvious talent through a lack of self discipline and arrogance (if the stories are true).

He could do with taking a leaf out of Hendo's book, and knuckle down, listen and do more work to improve his game.

He has talent, he just doesn't seem to be applying it.

  21. He reckons it's pretty much self policing.

It's short term contracts and if you're a prick you don't get any more work. Simple as that.

The business has its share of mad cunts who think that they can do what they want because they are in the back of beyond and no longer bound by RoE.

At the same time, there are less reputable companies that'll take anyone on.

We have some ex special forces, marines and para's.

All good lads and all know their jobs.

The last thing you want in a dodgy situation is some cunt who thinks he's rambo.

  22. A good friend of mine's brother died in tanzania I think it was a few years ago doing the same thing. he was ex forces, fit as a fiddle, doing some security work and died in his sleep. Although the family have been fighting to find out more info.

    Sorry to hear that.

We have nothing to do with any African contracts.

    Heard some real horror stories.

You have to understand that there are plenty of dodgy firms, and anyone looking for work in this line would do well to steer well clear of them.

It's always best to ask around. There's always someone who knows the score who can point blokes in the right direction.
