  1. Nice to see the Norn Iron connection bearing some fruit. I'll be there at the home of Ulster rugby (interesting choice of venue in itself - nice touch IMHO). Can't wait
  2. Tell you what, I think you should give up mate. Our Suarez race issue = thousands of Jews being gassed? Get a fucking grip.
  3. Brilliant result & a great week. Over the moon here especially given the fact we knocked out both mancs in 4 days. Within four fuckin days! Great juggling of the lineups IMHO. Tuesday will come around fast but more of the same please Kenny...
  4. Agreed, sadly. No doubt in my mind whatsoever. One twat out of our whole support on a day like today ain't sooo bad though. Well done Anfield!
  5. I hate it when anyone blames a refereeing performance for a bad result. It feels small-time and pathetic tbh. I'd rather look at the areas in the team that could be improved be it finishing, discipline, professionalism or general nouse about the game. Last night I have to be honest, it felt like we certainly didn't get a fair rub of the green and were never going to. Refereeing incompetence/lack of balls? Very Likely. Corruption/part of a conspiracy? Less likely but I'm beginning to fucking wonder. I'm sure Kenny and the rest of the staff are striving to get the team to a level where a crap ref will only mean we win by one as opposed to three. In the current climate its a big ask though. Must admit I'm finding it hard to ignore a growing impression that there is an agenda against us out there. Luis is clearly the focus of a shitstorm of epic proportions at the minute. Its a fuckin sad reflection that it doesn't appear to be good enough anymore to just build a great team and put them out there on the pitch to guarantee success. Looks like theres all sorts of extra shenanigans that are required from handling the press to manipulating the refs & FA. The irony of all this is that some of us were doubtful about Kenny's appointment - 'been away from the game for too long'. Bollocks. He's the one rock that helps me keep the faith amidst all of this. We shouldn't forget that last night's result came off the back of a good run. Can't help smiling a bit when I think of 'the opposition' (press/opposing managers/the FA/fucking whoever) lined up against Kenny. Good fucking luck to 'em. They're gonna need it.
  6. Not pleased about that at all. Don't like complaining about refs but looked like a real homer to me. We still should have won. Why we can't put away these 'smaller' teams is beyond me and looks like its turning into a real problem. Big part of the reason tonight was our attacking lineup. We just can't afford to have 60% plus of attacking moves break down due to long balls not finding our man or flickons going to the opposition. The pass and move seems to break down when we get into the last third. Gutted for Jay - three match ban maybe? So much for cementing his position...
  7. Oh right that great depression thing, yeh I knew that  Sorry, typo in my previous post. Should have read workmates (well ex-workmates). Clearly I don't have any real mates. I mean... c'mon.
  8. Awwww crap, now I'm gonna have to use Google again :(
  9. I was commenting on my own post in relation to my reply to Shoepiss who I saw was located in the USA and had a hell of a lot more posts on this forum than me. Hence I meant it when I said the first part of my reply to him wasn't sarcastic re. NFL vs Premiership ACL injurys. I took his opinion on board. No offence to anyone was intended so apologies if it came across wrong. Anyway, I guess I need to learn to be more careful as subtleties are difficult to get across in text so fair enough, points taken. Maybe I shouldn't have been posting at all last night tbh after a shit day in work but at least I still have a job. Three of my mates aren't so lucky since yesterday due to the bastard public sector cuts. Lesson learned don't post when you're in a shit mood. BTW if you happen to also be USA based I apologise to you and the rest of our North American friends for the 'real football' quip in my reply to Shoepiss. Sorry, couldn't resist. The huffing was tongue-in-cheek you don't get rid of me that easily. Thanks for the advice and, no, that's not being sarcastic.
  10. Ok I'm gonna try to help you out here - I bow to your superior knowledge of footballs. Not sarcastic - I've no doubt someone from Portland Oregon knows a shitload more about the NFL and tbh possibly the premiership than me Plus I'm sure sports medicine has advanced a lot in six years. Not sarcastic, I've no doubt it has, certainly hope so *Sigh* thats better. Sarcastic Was a bit concerned there for a minute. Sarcastic Glad to know he'll be back to his best next season. Sarcastic - I really hope its true though Right, thats the last time I'm gonna explain myself - you're gonna have to try to keep up on your own from now on. Listen lads, people were asking about how serious the injury was so I did a bit of a Google and posted what I found. More than any other bastard did. *Harrumph* *Stomps off in a huff*
  11. Absolutely. Fine with that approach & ideally we won't have to buy anyone. Wish we had a better handle on the timing of Stevie's return - he'll be inspirational when he comes back. Its just the longer term implications of Lucas' injury for the specialised DM position he had developed thats pissing me off, both for the lad himself and for the club. Anyway, signing off now and going for a piss up - we still have Kenny in charge & he sure as hell knows a lot more about this stuff than I do.
  12. I don't think everyone is writing him off & obviously I wish him all the best he's been brilliant for us. As I said earlier I think if anyone can come back from this Lucas can, seems like a determined individual. Sounds like a bad one though and I must admit I've gone from a 'we'll be fine with what we have' stance yesterday/this morning to a 'maybe we need to look at getting someone in even if its only as an insurance policy' tonight. No disrespect to our other CMs & I agree Spearing has absolutely earned his chance. I also have a feeling Jonjo could develop into a great DM but I dunno, I guess I'm just gutted for Lucas at this point. Team really has been building up a great run though & the best result all round is we can keep that going with what we've got. That would be the best outcome for me, but tbh the (at least potential) seriousness of the injury keeps niggling at me & make me think we need to have a sniff around in January just in case. Pains me to say it, but there ya go.

  14. Can't post links yet but in 2005 the American Journal of Sports Medicine did some research on 31 running backs and 33 wide receivers who suffered ACL injury. Interestingly, they did try to introduce measures to quantify relative performance on returning to the game. While the NFL might not be a perfect comparison with the premiership this makes worrying reading, particularly the conclusion which states: Nearly four fifths of National Football League running backs and wide receivers who sustain an anterior cruciate ligament injury return to play in a game. On return to competition, player performance of injured players is reduced by one third. :wallbutt: If anyone can make a successful return my moneys on Lucas though & maybe a similar study on real football might show different results. Guess he might have to adapt his game a bit at the very least.
