    i dont think we can say he was out of form when we finished 2nd but last year he was poor. i think he was playing under a manger he, and much of the squad, had lost faith in. i dont think he has lost his spark, he is a natural footballer capable of brilliance. i just think he wasnt happy last year with alot of what benitez was doing, and it weighed on his shoulders. the man loves the club and could see it going down, and that initself is huge pressure and probably made him play even worse. i think he will be awesome until the age of atleast 35......if ryan giggs can......he can!

    can distinctly remember them coming back from matches last season and going mad about how shit they all think he is there. i think he got a run in the team and played shit and since then has been back up to warnock. this would be roys first dodgy signing.....i really hope this isnt true...i know he likes english players but this is a stupid buy. i guess im looking at how roy is going to take us forward with this kind of signing......but maybe we just need stability for now? i just hope we havent gone from manager who was crap at buying attacking players, yet good buying defensive players to roy who has done well to bring in a new attacking option but might start to buy shit defenders? time will tell on this one....

    i have freinds who are season ticket holders at the villa, and they have been moaning for a long time about how shit this guy is, and how he doesnt bring anything to the team. i really hope this isnt true, he is a poor player. come on roy, you have started well, dont fuck it up by buying these kind of shit players.

    he played some great games for liverpool last year. he was a scapegoat for many fans, and before last season i really dint rate him, but last year when the chips were down and everyone was shit he gave it his all and did improve, no doubt about it. i dont think the role rafa had him in was his best, we signed him from gremio as a more attacking player. but hodgson seems to have started him in the same place. and if masch goes, lucas will play defensive midfiled and i just dont think he has what it takes. i wanted him to kick on right front he off, but he looked very poor in the two pre-season games.... have we got enough time to hope he can turn it around even more this year, and improve yet again?......i honestly dont think so. he just lacks pace, and doesnt like to go forward often playing the easier option....for the risk of giving it away and hearing the backlash from the fans.

    as the guy said above, he is a good lad, and i think many liverpool fans do liek him now. he tried his heart out last year and at times was the only guy giving 100% i want him to work out at liverpool and i thought he deserved another season atleast under hodgson...who might play him in different roles to get the best out of him but after watching our first two pre-season games i have to say we should get rid now. he just hasnt got that class ro spark to light up a game. very one paced your best players should play in midfield they can dictate the game from there, but he just cant do it. sorry lucas, i think its time to go mate, thanks for all teh effort you put in, but your holding us back now.

    thank you for replying i dont need to read his post the title said it all. we have had enough doom and gloom and the moment we get a little lift we have some idiotic fans trying to bring it all down. these same fans are the ones who got behind rafa like he was a saint, yet when a new guy comes in they dont have the same optimism? makes no sense at all.... we are already ahead from the days of rafa's ego filled 5 years. lol just pisses me off when i hear people being so negative towards what the new man is doing. as liverpool fans we were all as low as we could have been for 12 months, this signing gave us all a life.....abit of hope..... yet we have pricks trying to bring it all down....

"ok lads kuyt is playing, show him inside, get tight, we all know his touch is shit".......guess what......it worked for every game he has ever played against any team..... now add to that the fact he cant link up with the full back......you have a blue print to beat liverpool..... and many teams did. how many clubs have offered for dirk since we bought him? good player my ass.

    There is reports all over the press linking him with united today pretty much done deal apparently. what i dont get about this guy is......his name has been touted around for ages yet nobdoy has ever bought him?..was that because he broke his foot? i have been hearing his name for years (unless its anotehr defour im thinking of?!) so im not sure why somebody hasnt taken the gamble yet?...

    no we wouldnt have got joe cole. what top player was going to sign for benitez when the best striker in the world wasnt gaurnateed a game or even 90 minutes?! it was well known in football circles that the players had enough of rafa...dont you think joe would have found this out too? so he would have come to liverpool, with no gaurantee of football or what postion he might play in?. and that the manager might hardly talk to him or show him enouragment? and that we play defensively and the first people to get subbed are our wingers becuase benitez played them so deep they were expected to attack from our own half all the time and were fucking nakered most of the time. and finally that we had 4-5 wingers all fighting for left wing as everyone in football knows that rafa did not drop dirk from the right wing EVER. yea joe cole would have come...ok danny wilson rejected liverpool (after the initial deal was agreed) saying he wanted to play. he knew he would have been rotated and probably spent 3 years in the reserves like every other youngster we buy. they only came becuase roy took over, im 100% certain on that. he was shit and yea i do blame him for alot. the yanks gave him money but he pissed it all on full backs and defenders. yet we still dont have any decent full backs?!....why the fuck he ever let warnock go is a mystery. the yanks didnt pick the team and yet they get all the blame. fuck me, we gave one man control of everything and looked what happened... roy has hardly any control yet look what is happening.... funny that. no im not joking one bit. im pissed that roy isnt gettign the same backing rafa did when he took over. and this thread was made to highlight how shit benitez was as manager and how quickly roy is realsiing rafa's mistakes and turning it around......very quickly!

    thanks mate i dont think i have over reacted to peoples "non-football" related replies. i dont really take it personally i just defend myself no matter what the situation. i want people who lord rafa to come here and debate with me, i want to see why they think of him so highly, yet they cant seem to see some of the obvious things ive pointed out in this thread. i want skid fingers to tell me why he exactly disagree's with everything i say, but i dont think even rafa himself could defend some of the points ive made.

    well probably not in many peoples eyes on here. but read through my posts again and tell me what you disagree with? Firstly i havent attacked anybody's football opinions, i have defended myself against people who swore at me or basically disregarded what ive said without stating their own opinions. yes i started this thread for debate, i knew the rafa brigade would come out, but i expected them to defend him, but instead they havent even bothered, they just attacked me... yes he won us the european cup but have you forgot how he carried himself, especially last season? he was cringeworthy in almost every interview he ever gave. his rant at fergie was pathetic, and it cost us winning the league. that ego trip continued this year with his shitty tactics and refusal to back down over certain players. he had favourites...even when they played shit he persisted and persisted with them......what a joke. he took our club backwards so afar in one season its untrue. and dont get me started on the champions league. gerrard won him that. his goals and desire in the whole european campaign that year pulled us through. gerrard won him the fa.cup...if it wasnt for one of the best goals ever seen.......a 30 yard fucking volley in injury time we would have lost! those are the only two things he won at liverpool. he got lucky that great players dug him out of a hole time and time again, and how did he treat them?...not even a pat on the back rafa?.... have you forgot how shit our football was? not sure why, but i read forums time to time, but recently ive heard so much negative shit about roy and so many people crying that rafa has left and how good he was......was he fuck! he had 2-3 great players who time and time again pulled him out of the shit. dirty soul? dirty mind? dirty underwear? have you just shit yourself in excitement at your retort?
