    I understand all the financial arguments, but there has to be more basic fundimental issues if we keep struggling against these weaker sides. If we're judging on talent and squad strength, there's no way we should be going to places like Stoke or Boro and lacking ideas or desire and and meekly surrendering when there's still much to play for.

    I just don't know anymore. The chronic football aside, are we being realistic in demanding the league or even a challenge? Are the financial differences so great that no manager can expect to do a better job domestically until we give them a huge war chest? I watched the Sunday Suppliment on Sky this morning expecting Benitez to be slaughtered, but they were suprisingly defensive of him, and all agreed that he's making the best of the resources available and we should do everything in our powers to keep him because of the CL exploits. I wouldn't normally give them any credence on that show, but they spoke a lot of sense. I just can't get past the poor football, negative approach and lack of ideas and creativity against weak sides, which I'm sure would have seen us pick up more points this season.
