  1. Not angry. No lack of effort but it was all just a bridge too far. The fact that we couldn’t play through a determined but limited and hardworking midfield shows our limitations. We’d have won that game in the first half of the season. Of our big chances, I think Nunez and Mo did all they could have for theirs. Jota should have had more composure and of course Jones had to score. The players who haven’t been rested or injured have looked goosed, especially Macca, and the players coming back from injury aren’t ready yet. Some of the bile directed at Jones and Trent on here has been embarrassing. Jones made mistakes but he was the only one of our midfielders pressing or getting into threatening areas. Klopp has deserved better than this. The injury to Jota at Brentford and Mo at Afcon have been massive turning points. We’ve been left to rely on Nunez and Diaz who just aren’t that reliable. We are where we might optimistically have expected to be at the start of the season, but to go from a 2-point lead to a 3-point deficit in a week and also effectively go out of Europe is heartbreaking. The only good point that Carragher made was about this being similar to the way Arsenal faded last year. I get people wanting to vent and I was furious last week and on Thursday, but I think the squad deserve better than abuse. We’ve seen all season teams playing week above theirselves against us, and we saw it again today with block after block, and no ricochets falling for us. The only thing we might have done differently over the last few weeks (in terms of approach, not individual errors) is play the kids a bit more, but that’s hindsight really. A horrible end to a season that will live long in the memory.
  2. Endo, Konate and Bradley have been awful I think Konate has been crap since his injury and we look a better team with Quansah in. Bradley’s been quiet, without being bad, for the last few weeks. Endo just looks totally knackered. I think we need Trent and Elliot on.
  3. But with a stronger side than we were able to start a month ago when we were getting results. We’ve needed to rotate. You could argue we could have rotated more against sheff utd last week, but that team should have been strong enough to beat a non-CL European team. Most people would put Endo in our best 11 and he was dreadful. If he’s not in our best 11, Jones certainly is and he was worse. Again, most people would put Konate in our best 11 and he looked like a pissed Sakho. The manager and coaching staff must have believed that Jones was fit to play. Tsimikas should have had more game time in recent weeks, but maybe he’s played as badly as that in training and that’s why we’ve played Gomez at LB. No problem with rotation because so many of our player have looked goosed. Mo looks so far off it physically at the moment that he couldn’t be expected to play 90 minutes. The starting 11 all have a right expect game time, but no right to play as badly as that.
  4. Weren’t we doing pretty well before that? As I said then, every time we do well it’ll be because we’re playing for him; when we don’t it’ll be because he caused a distraction. it’s not his fault the club couldn’t get the obvious decision over the line
  5. Starting Macca tonight was such a weird decision. He looked fucked at the weekend despite playing well. Keeping him on for ninety tonight was bizarre.
  6. That’s why I still give Darwin credit - he takes it upon himself to do shut, even if it’s often not up to standard.
  7. A bit more, but you have to buy before you sell. Earlier in the season Mo looked like mid-80’s Kenny - no longer a goal machine but a creator and provider. The last three weeks he’s been trying to do that from a very very wide position. Nice balls in behind but in areas where the receiver has a lot to do and with no Mo in the. Box. We have to find a way ringer him more central because he’s offering diddly square as a slow winger.
  8. He was still the only player on the pitch who looked like making or scoring anything for us. The one v one was a really poor finish, but once he went off we had fuck all intensity and zero physical presence. I’m assuming everyone who put mo’s poor form down to Ramadan will now say he ate too much at Eid?
  9. My point is that every time one of our forwards has missed a chance in the late 2 months the lad show went a year without a goal has been built up into a hybrid of rush, lewandoski and van basten. He gets a pass, but so do others
