  1. Plus, if he's going to be genuinely effective then SoS shouldn't hamper him. He knows what the problem is with the yanks so unless the investors he finds are the same as them then there shouldn't be a problem.
  2. 1. We've no idea if he can be trusted given he's on their payroll. It's believing what we were getting told by the club that's got us into this situation in the first place. 2. We'd have no control over him whatsoever. 3. By the very nature of his job we know that his primary motivation is profit which is fine if he can suddenly turn the club into a cash cow but that wont be happening anytime soon.
  3. What is then? Bare in mind the alternative would have to be something that actually exists.
  4. He's very average but would be a decent squad player. His tackling has improved but he still gives away fouls in bad areas and his lack of pace and mobility means he struggles to cover back like Mascherano does. His passing is also very limited. He might have played a decent throught ball yesterday but 90%+ of his passes are 5-10 yard balls the way he is facing. You need more from a centre mid at a big club. If i had to think of a comparable player in his position in a top end team it would be Tom Huddleston or maybe Denilson.
  5. I agree but how did the green and gold thing take off? The match goers got involved and it was getting tv coverage everytime they played. It's the match going fans who will provide a successful platform. It's all well and good asking for a 'creditable' lobbying group while, and i include myself in this, sitting off and picking holes in the efforts of others. The green and gold thing was based on some priciples that SoS have used and other more successful ones they came up with themselves. What definately didn't help was people saying 'it's shit that' while doing nothing themselves. And they're in a position to enlist the help of BSD but while people are nitpicking and finger pointing while contributing nothing constructive themselves there will never be the funds to do anything even remotely resembling that. I'm not saying SoS are perfect but they represent our best hope so i think by far our best option is to unite behind them and offer constructive advice as to the best way forward. I certainly haven't got an answers but i'm sure they are out there amongst our fan base somewhere. This billboard campaign could be the first step towards this. If it isn't, at least they're trying.
  6. You weren't playing for Liverpool against an atrocious Blankburn team though. I dont see how we can have a go at Blackburn for hoofing when our response was to do the exact same thing. And i dont find that style exciting, i just find any style that generates an average of more than one attempt on goal per half more exciting than ours.
  7. We aimlessly volley the ball forward, they aimlessly volley the ball forward and throw it near the opponents goal. We hardly have a shot, they often trouble the opposing goalie. Excitement wise they're getting a far better deal. If you're gonna pay to watch pub footy it's best that there's a threat of a goal every 20 mins or so.
  8. Those two things are from the same incident where we HAD to attck cos our opponents had scored. The fact we didn't shoot for 45 mins and sat even further back when we scored meant we were always risking them nicking one. Same old, same old.
  9. We rely on converting the few chances we do create. If we dont we get a lot of draws like last season or draws and defeats like this term. It's also shite to watch. People have a go at Stoke but their games are more watchable than ours.
  10. That attack only came about cos the other team scored. Again, in the first half we didn't have a shot on goal.
  11. Hardly any of our midfielders got into their half that half, despite most of them being naturally attacking players. Our defenders used the vast majority of their time aimlessly twatting it forwards towards two of the biggest centre halfs in the league. Seen as we do this most games, if the manager doesn't want us to play like that why doesn't he tell them to pass it to feet? We sat back and sat back until Samba was able to play up front and we still didn't threaten their goal. You only have to have a passing interest in LFC to see that's how we play the majority of the time with Rafa in charge so it's clearly under his instruction. Do you think that week in, week out he's telling players to push forward but they just fuck him off and sit back?
  12. Not actually being in a position to shoot for prolonged periods of the game sugeests it's more to do with tactics.
  13. I missed the first minute of the 2nd half but apart from Maxi's mis-hit cross we didn't have a shot of any description in the whole 45 mins. It's a very common theme this season.
  14. We only had something like 6 shots on goal in our last 4 away games and 3 of them were against Arsenal and i can only remember Babel's there. Yesterday we went the entire 2nd half without having a shot. Maxi's was a mis-hit cross. We had about 35m worth of attackers sat on the bench yesterday, i bet that's twice Blackburn's entire squad, and we couldn't muster an attempt on goal in 45 mins. The really worrying thing is it's far from being a one-off. Off the top of my head, Aresnal, Pompey, Villa, Stoke, Wolves, City, and Fulham are all games were we went at least 45 mins without troubling the opponents keeper. It's a very clear sign of an inherent problem with this Liverpool team and the tactics it employs.
  15. They made a wax work dummy of Babel as well as Gerrard.
  16. It's cos footy is more popular and that's what the masses want. Plus, they are covering matches there so they're gonna talk about what happens in the game. I never watch all that anayway. If i watch one of our games at home i never, ever watch the punditry. Why do you need someone to tell you what happened when you've just been watching it? I dont think it's that much more in depth for other games though. I just think some sports are more rule-laden, intricate and stop-start, NFL i particular, so they lend themselves to that kind of analysis. If we're 1-2 down to Birmingham at home i suspect they'll talk about why we're so shit rather than our net spend compared to Arsenal.
  17. My concern is that the nature of the win suggests there are yet more draws and defeats just around the corner. If this was anything even resembling a winning team i could quite happily live with a game like that that ends in a victory. This ain't a winning team though.
  18. In fairness, Sky Sports News always has people from the financial sector discussing the debt issue in football. I always stick it on when i'm off work during the week and that kind of thing features a lot.
  19. You've got to get your head around the fact most Liverpool fans dont come on boards like this and just dont give as much of a shit about LFC as people on here do. I live and work in Liverpool and there are plenty of fans who think people are making a mountain out of a molehill regarding the owners. The only people who are going to make a genuine impact is the match goers so putting them up near the ground is absolutely the right thing to do. Sticking them up around Devon or Belfast might stop a few fans buying replica shits but that's about it. The higest concetration of fans who can actually make a difference will always be at Anfield on matchday. Did you see a load of people in Bristol with their green and gold scarfs on yesterday? Nope, but i bet loads of people at home will have noticed fans wearing them at Wembley. And, most importantly, SoS are trying to do something in the complete absence of any other good ideas. You keep nitpicking while they try and make a difference. I'm not saying what they do is perfect but they are doing what they can to make an impact and i'll continue to support them with that.
  20. I couldn't give a fuck what Allerdyce says, does or thinks about anything. Him and Blackburn are of no interest to me whatsoever. The only thing that registered with me is that i watched a Liverpool team basically play with 8 defenders in the last 30 mins and constantly hoofing the ball against one of the worst teams in the league and our manager is then making comments about the opposition being like Brca.
  21. Yeah but there's only a handful of players in the world who fit the bill and if either of the two we've got are injured, off form or decide to fuck off then there's nothing down for us. It'd be nice if we attacked enough so that decent attacking players who aren't world beaters can consistantly look good. As it is we rely on our forwards to convert the three chances a game we create.
  22. That's obviously gonna be the case though, isn't it?
  23. I just think it summed up a lot of what is wrong this season. Clinging on against one of the worst teams in the league, horrible long ball footy and not one meaningful shot in the 2nd half.
  24. I dont get what people expect to see on a Liverpool forum in the current climate. We all want the owners out and most are doing something to hopefully contribute to that. Otherwise the only thing worth talking about is how shit we are. I'm not sure what the other options are really? Who looks most like Eddie Muster, Insua or Maxi? Insua, obvioulsy.
  25. I'm afraid you're about to find out that a lot of people take these boards far too seriously and one of the important little rules is not to start a thread when there's already something similar. If they had their way you'd be publically flogged. Anyway, i think he could well be a decent player but i'm worried our league is too quick and physical for him to play centre mid. He may end up playing off the front man but we've yet to see too many signs he'd be effective in there. We wouldn't get anywhere near what we payed for him now so we might as well give him another season and hope he can repay the faith.
