    Think you wasted your vote.

Nope checked rules before I it, was 100% clear who I was voting for and had nothing to identify me. Those were only rules I could find.

One recent election I remember someone wrote "wank" in every box and "not wank" next to the Green Party. This was taken as a clear preferance for tge greens and vote was given to them.

Edit: was on Guardian Live page at time, so here is the reddit where they were discussing it. Link to original source in thread too.

  2. I have never bothered voting before because I live in a very safe Labour seat, so feel my vote simply doesnt count.

However, I sent my postal vote for the 1st time and so did my partner, who also vote for the first time. Even though its remain area in Merseyside given the volatile nature of politics atm we couldnt risk not voting

I am so stressed out about what will happen to me under a conservative government, due to various health problems I have and the meds I have to take. We also have a small buisness making VR perfierals, a high proportion of which go to the EU. Nothing good is on the horizon for us if Johnson and the Gamon brigade are elected, infact it is quite terrifying.

Also, I took the opportunity to write Johnson is a lying cunt under the conservative candidate name.

Edit: vote wasnot spoiled as it was 100% ear who the vote was for. I checked rules before hand.

  3. So my father died a couple of weeks ago, we had a McMillan nurse who come to the house who was helpful and we had fantastic support of St Johns Hospice at Home. However, less than one week after my mum recieves a letter from McMillan asking her to include them in her will. Now it might have just been co-incidence but she has not received mail from them before, so pretty sure it nothing more than cynically praying on a woman who had lost her husband 6 months short of 50 years.

I have been appaulled at how some companies including charities have tried to take advantage of her. Others have been amazing and as such will be given very decent donations from our family and continued customer loyalty. I will make sure McMillan recieve a small something; as if you use a charity, benefit from it and can afford to its only fair. However, after that I do not think I be inclined to ever again. The companies in question can fuck right off though.

  4. Dont think anyone has posted this yet, I read a series of articles a couple of months ago on Der Spiegel Online about Man City and their dealings. Since it is being discussed thought some here may find it interesting. It is pretty damming if true, lets face it they have form for financial breaches, we now have the alleged bullshitting of UEFA in addition. Most of the info used was from Football Leaks.

Can someone clarify this for me.

Did the mongrels throw those flairs onto the pitch before of after the goal?

I sit in main stand overlooking the away end - some stuff was thrown on to the pitch when Richarlison (I think it was) tryed to start a fight with Gomez in that corner not as bad as aftrr the goal and most just hit their own fans and didnt make it on the pitch. There was also a mobile phone amongst the objects that made it on to the picth after yhe goal, and earlier a few people get kicked out by the cops. Most of it just hit their own fans and didnt make it on to the pitch at that point. As for the flares its a bit of a blear I thought the one thrown at our lot was after along with loads more stuff chucked on inc the flare and phone on to the pitch.

Edit: they have to have been the most obnoxious away fans so far this season - again.

Edit again: I could be wrong btw it was mayhem and I was concentrated on what was going on at the other end so much.

Has anyone mentioned the blue flare that seemed to have been launched into our supporters?

there were 2 blue flares one on the pitch with all the other crap they threw on there and one right in with our supported in the lower Anfield Road End. Dunno if any of that has been mentioned at all.

  7. Don't usually post but delighted with that went crazy at the end, especially after the "you haven't killed an Italian" and "always the victim" shite they pulled - again.

We sit right near the away end so was very audible and when they began chucking stuff on to the pitch near the end someone threw a mobile phone; pathetic i know but that cracked me up. I mean why not throw your wallet and drivers licence too. Fortunately no-one was in the way of it.

    Anyway stay classy Everton!

  8. I know you said you have run Ccleaner did you check start-up? Ccleaner to do startup tools-> startup.

Disable junk that is unceassary, if your unsure quick google will sort.

Apologies if you have already done this but many overlook it.

  9. If you like fps try Pavlov and Onward. If you do think about grabbing a periferal that locks your controllers in place making shoiting easier. My other half actually was the 1st to make one of these on redddit years ago.

Flying games are great there is a real sense of awe there especially if you have a stick or hotas.

The game is repetative and a little boring but the scale in Elite Dangerous is amazing. Sometimes they have it on sale for a fiver so if you see it on then cheap worth a copy.

Been using VR since Rift DK1 and Elite Dangerous Alpha - too bad I still get motion sickness so cant use much. My partner though bearly uses anything but VR now though.

  10. I used to use a jds labs c5d, as amp/dac with phone was nice little unit. Dont use so much now due to the fiio x7 and keeping my phone charged.

If it was not season ticket time, I would love a chord mojo - amazing bit of kit.

  11. I've spent months changing all my old CDs to FLAC files, but Micro SD cards are finally at a price where I reckon I can carry most of my music around with me without it costing a bomb. Bought a pair of Sennheiser 558s and early impressions are good. Probably need a little amp though, particularly as the Sony player I've got limits volume ridiculously, but that's for later.

Yeah EU volume limits are dumb audio players, due to headphone impedance. I am unclear of the rules but manufacturers sell legally in the eu without it, I mean you can buy amps which completely negates any rules. Companies like sony though are ultra strict though and apply it to their players also.

If you want a cheap player with no sound restrictions check out Fiio, they also make cheap amps.

  12. It doesn't make any sense to spend tons on headphones and then listen to mp3s over Bluetooth on then. You may as well get a £19.99 pair as the sound is that badly compromised anyway.

True to an extent but Qualcom AptX has been a real game changer. It still is a form of compression but produces much better results - can support up to 24 bit, cd quality is typically 16 bit. Ofc you have to have the right files to show it off.

It is pretty good and of you have an interest in this sort of stuff give it a demo with a nice flac in a department store. (Maybe changed but last I heared apple didnt support, this so an iphone may not be an ideal.)

Used a few things to test them out inc fiio x7 dap and they generally preform well.

  13. Whilst I dont know the model Shure make some fantastic products, have an excellent reputation and great support. They are very well reguarded by many audio enthusiasts. Besides its from amazon so you will have no problem sending them back if you dont like them.

I see they are listed as studio, so they should sound balanced across the frequencys, with nothing overly predominant.

I use these as my daily iem:

    806_se846big8.jpg

  14. Yep beats generally have a terrible reputation within the headphone community, plastic, bloated / too much bass and made out of cheap materials. Some people like them but personally I dont understand why. Bose fair better due to the QC35/25 because their NC is excellent.

I really like my M2 for the same reasons, they just feel so premium. The funny thing is they actually feel more premium then my HD800, due to the leather and stainless steel. Nuts when a set of new hd800 would cost about £1k new. I bet its the case with the B&O too.

One I bough my 1st set of real quality headphones it set me off just not being satisfied. I went from a crappy steel series headset and samsung ear buds to a set of HD800 and Shure SE846 with in a year. I hear things in tracks I didnt have a clue where there previously.

If this is your 1st set of premium headpones and you dont have much high resolution music, grab yourself a tidal account for a free months trial, select hifi quality and see if you hear anything new. Its like rediscovering your music collection.

  15. Read some of the reviews and ended up getting some of these for £34.

The 202s are the ones marketed as DJ set which means you should have more of a fun sound than the 201 with lots if bass, they look a bit more to date also. Anyway hope you enjoy them.

  16. Too late to edit, the m2 on vs overs debate also have the sound sigs as different. With the on ears ment to have a more V shaped sig so more bass, I think the m2 overs is tuned a little more to an audiophile preferance, which looks to be what you are after, judging by the choices.

This was another reason I didnt really try them out as I prefer the frequencies u shaped or balanced.

@Cloggypop - I enjoy headphones because a set of speakers with the same quality as a £1k set of headphones would need huge sums of cash and have to consider room acoustics to sound thier best. Alot of people think I am a bit nuts spending what I do on my high end set but most music lovers who have listed to my iems/headphones have asked about upgrading theirs; maybe not to the sane extent but upgrading none the less.

Cheers for replying. Would those be a marked improvement on the standard apple earphones that come with the iPhone?

The standard ones that come have become better over the years but switch them out for well made after market stuff then you usually have a better experience.

Comparing ear buds and full size cans is a bit apples and oranges but if you are open to trying some in ears check out these guys.

    https://trinity-audio-engineering.myshopify.com

They have 2 sets that will be on budget witg a 20% discount code the Phantom Vyrus 2 and the original Hyperions. (HEADFIMEMBERS01)

I have a set if vyrus v1 and a hyperion as sometimes I want something Im not too worried about losing or damaging. The Vyrus is stupidly good bargain for money and are my fave budget iems as you have aload of filters for tuning etc.

  17. Can anyone recommend some cheaper over ear headphones? They'll just be used for listening to Spotify on my phone at home and I'm not willing to spend any more than £20-£30.

Thats a tough one as lots of the entry levels from serious manufacturers start at the £50 price point, however...

If ok with closed back, these are the cheapest of the 'serious' headphone manufacturers around, and the reviews are good especially given the price point.

    http://www.whathifi.com/sennheiser/hd-201/review

Can be bought for £18 from pc world, as they are closed back so will give some passive isolation too.

There is also the Sony MDR-ZX310, in that price bracket but they are on ears and not as good.

I ended up cancelling the order as I wanted over ears originally. Didn't see the point in going for the on ears.

The over ears are on Amazon Spain for £260, but only in the Ivory colour.

Will wait till the black ones are a similar price as don't want to worry about getting them dirty.

Thats prob the smart thing to do the over ares are all leather, comfortable and look great. I didnt want to say it but the overs have a better sound stage and detailing, waiting is prob the correct decision if the price difference is not huge.

  18. Just to clarify its the M.2 over ears I have,

I have not actually tried the on ears as I can never get them to sit comfortably. Just a personal thing I think and that is all on-ears not just senn. Materials differ as on ears use alcantara but Senn are usually really good build quality and offer good support if any problems.

  19. Owned / tried extensively M2, QC35 and the Sonys.

M2s I love both asthetically and the sound but has the odd BT cutout. They feel premium and just so high-end whist being light and comdertable. The for a small pair of closed backs they are airier than most whilst having good balanced sound quality, decent detail and imaging,

QC 35 great connectivity and fantasic NC but just lacked that premium feel of the Senns and where not as conferatble as tge sonys. I didnt enjoy the sound as much either, but I am a bit of a Senn fan as I have previously stated. Lack AptX.

Leaving the Sonys, they nailed it. I found them the most comfertable of the 3, premium feel and sony have put alot if work in to the NC and their sense sound - whilst I have not had the 3 pair next to each other for a side to side comparison the consensus is the NC tops the Bose. Solid bass but not over powering, very good mids and the highs.

If it was me I would go for the Sonys, I actually want them myself but Im banned from headphone shopping since I have a couple of premium iems coming this month.

I am pretty sure John Lewis stocks all 3 as well as the others so go have a look there.

You prob already know this but will say anywa - make sure you listen to the same bit of music you know well on the same device on all and make sure its High Res.

PS - the Sonys are awsome

  20. In which case it is just preferance on sound signatures then.

As I don't think there is anywhere around where you can try them all out togeather, I would narrow it down to 2-3 pairs and order from amazon, sending back the losers. Your own equipment can effect how the headphone sounds also, as you probably know, so nothing will beat having them in your house with time to try them.

As far as headsets go, I have tried many over the years spent decent amounts on some of them too (£200+). I dont think I would go back to them now having used the set up I have. I think most, even the likes of Sennheiser one of my favourite headphone companys, use a cheaper headphone, stick a mic to it and double the price.

Another pair you might want to consider are Senn HD 598, very highly reguarded for gaming and great quality. Amazon have the black pair for £130 that so £70 less than the cream set.

  21. Used X2 with HTC Vive and Oculus rift (DK2 and CS). Didn't get to try with psvr as although I had one sat in.living room it was a gift so managed not to 'see if it was working'.

The X2 are built like tanks and can be pulled apart more if needed without worrying you will break them, also the standard jack on either end of the cable means it can be used with vmoda boom mic and turned in to a headset. As I said before biggest draw back is weight for some, personally I think they are ok.

Out of the ones listed I have heard the k702, nice and light, sounds decent but just lacked the rumble I like for gaming, when things are exploding all around you.

Another thing with the AKG you will have to consider is amping. They are listed as 62 Ohm if memory serves or there about, but are a very hungry headphone and need a bit of a boost. They Beyers will definitely need amping as the ones you linked are both 250 Ohms, although you can get some 32.

Not heared either of the ATH.

  22. The problem with headphones is it's all about useage and personal tastes. Also it is model depended eg Philips Fidelio x1 are more V shaped than the X2.

Right now I have Fidelio x2, Sennheiser M2, Sennheiser HD800, and a set of shure se845 iems. All provide a different experience, and I chose which set depending on what it is I am doing; anyway some focus on the X2.

Nice set of headphones if a little heavy on your head but you soon adjust to that. U shaped sound signature and just the right bass to give a nice deep sound to games and movies without over powering the mids.

I use them mainly as my PC set with a vmoda boom mic if I need to speak. Way better than any headset. Or if I want a little more bass than my HD800s provide when listening to music that calls for this. They provide a good sound stage and placement ofsounds. As they are open backs they will not block noise out at all but don't leak sound too badly compared with other opens.

Most people who hear them seem to like them, however, their experience of decent quality headphones is slim to none existent. I love them - they are the pair that started my headphone interest. They are highly regarded on many headphone forums and sites, even on inner fidelity wall of fame still, with some very expensive peers:

Here is a review of loads of different headphones it focuses on use for gaming but he also talks about sound signatures, and general stuff. It is a brilliant site to learn about headphones and if the ones you want to read about are not there they will be in the review section on main page

  23. At the other end if the spectrum, if anyone wants to see what VR can really do - try and have a demo of the HTC Vive. It is in partnership with steam, so games are coming out for it all the time.

We have one and I built a new PC to go with it, absolutely amazing. To qualify myself for saying this we have had both Oculus rift development kits; the dk1 was 3 years ago. Decided to jump over to the Vive due to the ability to track you around a room and it has zero to do with Facebook.

We have also had a gear vr which for something hacked on to a Samsung phone is quite decent. Tracking is nowhere near as good, so makes me feel motion sickness after about 10 mins. If anyone has access to this then the Assassins Creed demo is a must - one if the best vr demos I have tried.

  24. So I don't post much but saw the title and instantly remembered.

My grandmother was loaded, we have fuck all. She would talk about how much money she had constantly. My dad would bring back containers full of cash from under her bed regularly with like £20k+ in and bank it for her. My mum would take meals over for every day of the week as she would only buy meals on wheels for 2 days and then only one meal for her and her brother to share.

She would cut the tops and bottoms off cards were the names went and reuse them - proper tight. We used to wright close to the verse to stop her. Used to call her the wicked witch of West derby.

One year for her birthday my mum was given a soap set which my brothers had bought her when they were young kids out of their own money, over 20 years previously - still in the same wrapping.

Another was a pair of tights - 1 and 6 written on them and the old utility mark, this was in the late 90's. I didn't even know what that was at the time so for those who don't it is a mark used during and after WW2 on certain rationed goods.
