  1. I did say it was strange..........United and Liverpool both won titles with relatively poor teams or maybe good teams just in 2nd gear imo because they often played with a major advantage that teams came on to the pitch already beaten - Arsenal's invincibles had the exact opposite problem - everybody wanted to be the first to beat them which makes their achievement remarkable - albeit in a not very competitive league United now have the problem that they have to be better than their title winning teams not just because of chelsea but because they have lost that air of invincibility Chelsea are fast developing that advantage of teams going out already beaten - some teams have even rested players against them Arsenal imo have never enjoyed that type of advantage they have never dominated the game the way we or united ever did only a small point really but in order to remain a competition if Chelsea have both the financial and psychological advantage then winning the Prem will be doubly difficult not because we may not be a better team than them but because other teams will fight harder against us. With that in mind its vital that we try to make sure everybody thinks they are in with a chance and debunk the myth that Chelsea are that superior to everybody else - they are a good side but they like united and us in the past have had their fair share of luck this year and last The 'aura of invincibility' can by its nature only apply to one team at a time....... Does this make a bit more sense than my first post - I'm unsure having re-read it.....

  7. Mmmm - isn't this for the financial year were we won the Champions league and knocked Chelsea out of that competition..........an odd title then the prem of course is a different matter and the money allows them to give themselves a massive advantage in terms of strength of squad but as Madrid have ably demonstrated in Spain - money is not always the answer does make you laugh though when they claim they did not win the league because of the money.......... they are no doubt trying to build up momentum - to scare everybody else - to have that air of invincibility that both we and united built up (though suprisingly never Arsenal?) - don't fall for it its still 11 against 11 on the pitch and whoever wants it most generally has the edge - just like their fans they'll be taking their eye off the ball soon enough - and both Rafa and Wenger are more able managers than Maureen I do get the impression that they are in a rush - that everything has to be done yesterday - that they are actually terrified of competition - part of their financial plan I'm sure is based on success on the pitch - the latest rouse of buying players just so the opposition can't being a particularly unpleasant tactic - unless something dramatic happens in Russia they will be around to stink the place out for a long time but it'll just be all the sweeter when we keep beating them
