Good win, although we were a bit rocky 2nd half, Milner being torn apart by Bellerin's pace down the left.
Like Can's cynical attempt to bring Sanchez down to prevent the breakaway- unfortunatley ref let the play go on and they nearly scored, but hey, at least we are now trying to do some game management type stuff.
Gonna watch MOTD now! Us and the Mancs game bearable tonight.

Our owners (and presumably Klopp as he's going along with this) seem to think that we can spot bargains in the bargain basement bin that nobody else has and polish them into superstars. Not sure why they think they have some inside source of info that other people don't. Big clubs that want to compete and win things regularly pay the going rate for big players. We try to polish dog turds, and yeah on a good day when the sun is shining and the reflected glare blinds you they may not look like dog turds for a while, but ultimately they are what they are.

2 weeks off these spineless shithouses have had.
-
But there aren't 20 players out there who could improve this team.
-
Just before the second goal, the misplaced pass from Henderson summed us up. No pressure, somehow plays it 10 yards behind Moreno, who runs and backheels it to keep it in, straight to their player, and they almost get through.
10 yard pass. FFS.

Is too much to ask for to have a player (apart from Mane) that wants to take an opponent on? Or has a bit of pace? Everyone else shits their pants given a chance to attack, or are so slow that even when through they turn back to keep possession. Cowards way.

Predictable as fuck.
I'm out of understanding and compassion for Mignolet. Just fuck off.

Chelsea did sweet FA until the last 10 minutes.
Mignolet redeemed himself to an extent with the penalty save.
Lovren nearly created two goals for them. Why is our defence so prone to individual errors? Is it because they are individually poor so have to be at 100% to compete, so any dip below that results in a chance for the opposition?
Anyway, could have been worse. Lets hope this is the start of a decent run.

I wanted Spurs to beat Chelsea and I wanted us to beat Sunderland. Had we done our job against a poor Sunderland team we'd have been looking up to the summit and hoping, rather than scrapping it out to stay in the top four.
Big wins for Arsenal and Spurs today, so we need to get something at Old Trafford tomorrow. Hopefully we get back to playing well, as we've been iffy for a while, even if, Sunderland aside, results over the festive period were good.
Quite right- we should be aiming to win the league, not hoping we dont get caught for 4th place.
Gotta say I'm not optimistic for tomorrow though.

Wow what a goal by Carrol!
Don't much like WHam or Palace but dislike Fat Sham more so cmon you hammers!

When Clyne has the ball near the opposition area he looks scared. Even on the rare occasion he does shoot you know there is no chance of a goal. I know its not really his job, and he's a solid 7 out of 10 defender every game, but our fullbacks are wing backs, and it would be nice to see a bit more confidence from him around the opposition area.

Great result. Was worried about Klavan with a yellow card after 5 minutes but he barely put a foot wrong thje rest of the game. I was more worried about the ref than City- every 50-50 was being given their way- but good to see we can grind out 1-0 results when we aren't playing particularly well.
Well in red men.
Happy New Year all.

Have to say that first 30 minutes was shit, and we could have been 2 or 3 down, but credit to the mentality of the team, they kept playing their way and eventually things started to click. That's the biggest change that Klop has produced, the belief that a game is not over if we go a goal down.
Come on redmen, lets get a couple more and make it comfortable.

That's about as sweet as 1-0's get!
Barclay should have had a red first time and another yellow for kicking the ball away.
Firmino had one of those games where every flick went to an Everton player, but still had our two best shots on goal and a lovely little bit of juggling in their area that didn't lead to anything.
Great result!

Some of these goals we're conceding just make no sense. We give up almost no clear cut chances, yet concede every game without fail. Ridiculous.
Amazing isn't it! We must be conceding from 90% of chances against us and scoring from 10% of chances we create.
The entertainment is fantastic- just wish we could tighten up a bit.
-
On the whole I can see signs of the mentality improving- last 10 minutes there I wasn't absolutely shitting it- but we still nearly threw it away at the end.
Good fightback, kept going, didn't panic. There will be plenty of games where we concede first, question is can he get them believing there's always a way back? Anyway, can enjoy the rest of the weekend now. Well done red men, esp Firmino, Coutino (who was much better second half) and Milly BallsofSteel.

OMG what a let off!!!
-
Fuck- that should have been 2. We still cant defend crosses.
-
Need to calm down lads. You're not going to score first in every game. I think Klopp has been working on the player's mentality, teaching them its not the end of the world if we go behind, so I still think we'll win this.

Three guesses...
Our friend Mr. Tyler? I missed the start.
-
Who's the commentator? He sounded like someone had died when Lovren scored.
-
FFS 90th minute and from a corner we play 12 tippy tappy passes back to the half way line and then Klein shoots wide from 25 yards.
Brain dead the fucking lot of them.
-
Gotta say the keystone kops defending of the last 5 years is alive and well.
Got to get Origi on - a presence up front, someone to run past the defence- we're just passing around in front of them at the moment.
-
Studge playing really deep. Just watched him trying to chase a through ball and you can see why he's dropping deep.
