My point was that even if he had a complete stinker of a game but still made himself the matchwinner with two late strikes, he's done his job and should IMO definitely be given a run of games now to see if he can take his chance. He was before my time. Only saw him play on countless LFC videos but even then the personality comes out from not only the fabulous goals he scored but the wonderfully demented way in which he celebrated them. He looked like he truly loved captaining the Reds. RIP.

With Mista having just signed an extension to his contract at Valencia and Cisse having broken a bone (just been reported on Five live that they think it's a break), Rafa will need to think hard about who we can buy that can offer us most up-front. Cisse might not have set the world alight yet but he clearly offers pace, power and some trickery either at centre forward or on the right. Pissed off that we're 2-1 down at Ewood at half time and we've lost another player to a break, they just dread this fixture at Blackburn General Hospital.

With a manager clearly canny enough to place great emphasis in the young players at the club, those of us who don't live close enough to home to catch reserve games anymore (I'm from Southport and used to watch the ressies with my old man in the last few years) are finally getting to see what calibre of player the Academy is producing. I've been reading TLW for two or three seasons and Dave's reports are informative and detailed, but involving Warnock, Whitbread and the rest this season has blown a real breath of fresh air through Anfield. The hope is that the older, more experienced internationals at the club (Kewell must be getting the message) will now have to start performing to their absolute maximum every week to keep the talented young upstarts on the bench, just like the old days. I was at the Worthy Cup Final where we beat the mancs and it was a great day, really only because we beat the mancs. But I'm really looking forward to the rest of this season's league cup campaign and seeing Welshy, Raven and Mellor as well as the others (bring back Semi) excel and learn against Premiership opposition. They'll save us millions in the future if they turn out to be good enough and will have a fuller understanding of TLW than those we buy. Those of you who have seen the ressies play recently, do you think some of these lads can go all the way? Do we have half a team of genuine future Liverpool stars on our books? Incidentally, where is Partridge up to? Is he still a regular reserve and is he even knocking on the door to the first team?
