I know nothing about Inacio, but with Virgil and Matip both 32 now, it's a position that we need to prioritise.

As posted in the summer thread,  after my extensive scouting in transfer market.com all 5 minutes. Andre should be the DM we sign and Funky Cold Medina, Argentinian CB/LB at Lens is the hybrid CB we should go for.

I don't understand why they didn't said check complete, onside, instead of just check complete. So stupid

I’m sure others will have said this, but why can’t they talk in clear English to each other, like. Rugby TMO ?

ref initiates, statement of on pitch situation

‘we’ve got offside here, can you check’

VAR repeats back o both parties clear on the ask

‘ so goal scored, but flagged offside, checking’

VAR then confirms what they’ve seen ‘ player onside, you can reverse decision, player onside, you can award the goal’

Ref confirms ‘ so player onside, gol to be awarded’

    its not difficult …

When we finished recording I messaged Chris to say I was kicking myself I didn't say Will Smith because he did such a great job portraying Ali.

Yeah, maybe, I just think Jackson has the full range or anger, humour, compassion, sincerity over and above anyone else. Plus Jackson is a Red isn’t he, from when he made that drug dealing/rave scene film in Liverpool.

The mulligan game has got to be Arsenal '89 for me. I was in the Kop that evening and will never forget the sight of those Arsenal fans at the end when Thomas went through. Pricks. We were a much better side than them and had had to finish the season after Hillsborough. Kenny deserved that second double.

If I had to go recent, I'd say the Spurs 1-1 at the end of '21. As it turns out, had we won that - or rather, had Klopp brought Origi on - we'd have won the league and I daresay, the Champions League (and quadruple) a week later.

Between the last CL final or Arsenal 89 and I’d lean to Arsenal 89, just because of the backdrop to the game.

As I said on the pod, Roy Keane. If we’d had him in the 90s, Roy Evans would’ve won the league and who knows where that would’ve taken us?

Defo Keane, would we have won the league ? I don’t know as we were always ‘one player’ away. If anyone could have been the one it was Keane for all the reasons described on the POD. All the more frustrating as we did go for Clough and Ince, his midfield partners, who absolutely weren’t the one.

plus if he didn’t go to the Mancs that may well change their history too.

Yeah this is a good point. Need to see performances like Sunday when we're away to shite. The key to getting top four is minimising the points dropped to the bottom half. The key to winning it is beating them all twice and then holding your own away to the good sides while beating them at home.

Yep, Turning around the Forest, Leeds, Bournemouth, Palace x2 and Southampton games gives us an extra 15 points last year, 82 in total. Comfortable top 4 allbeit not a title challenge.

Good stuff again lads. I don't and didn't get the drama around our lack of urgency around defenders. Matip and Gomez are as good as any 3rd and 4th choice CB's anywhere in the world. Gomez was being criticised for looking rusty, of course he would be rusty playing every 6 weeks dnd had no midfield in front of him. If anyone thought some new guy would come in and look sharp as fuck every time he gets a minute or two then they're in for a rude awakening.

Identifying Matip's replacement and giving Quansah some game time is key for thus season.

I’d agree on this. If we look at the 21 season in particular, we saw Phillips and Williams guide us through to CL at CB, once we restored Fab and Henderson to midfield. When we moved Fab and Hendo back into CB slots we faltered.

From that tin if results a strong, clear midfield seems more important than having CB cover.

So I’m happy we’ve gone down the let’s beef up midfield over getting in a CB or RB. Plus Endo has played a lot at CB RB so could be our new Milner.

I wish we would use that strong position to not only tell them we won't do business with them but also to send our support to all of those their country is wrongly imprisoning and killing. It's a shame everyone seems to think the only response to sportswashing is standing by and letting it happen. If they want publicity, give it to them.

In principle I agree. If we’ve learnt anything in the recent past though it’s don’t poke the bear. We’ve got the Mancunian referee mafia on our case, if we said that to the Saudis I’d just expect them to up the ante and bud more, for more players.

just say no thanks and be done with it

We wanted to sign that Aussie right back from Blackburn at one point, the angry one who tried to kick or elbow anything that moved, was it him?

Catching up a bit here, so apologies if someone else has mentioned this but wasn’t that Lucas Neil ? Didn’t he break Carra leg after after he turned us down ?

This was in the replies as well...

You don't want to sound conspiratorial, but for a ref who was so quick to book Trent for throwing the ball back into play, you have to wonder.

Those incidents plus the clear kick away by Gordon just after Trent get his yellow, as mentioned above, it does make you wonder. I’m sure it’s all subconscious bias …. If they’re in Red book em, if in zebra stripes don’t worry about it.

If we are continuing with the current tactics then a left sided centre back who is comfortable in the left back position would I think be the priority. Don't think the way we are currently playing is helping Robbo much.

Yep, that’s Funky cold Medina, can also play an inverted CB role similar to Trent but from the left.
