I’ve noticed that the Challenge Cup semi-finals are on this weekend – that St. Helens v Leeds game looks like it will be a cracker. I’ve been paying a bit more attention to Rugby League recently, what with the world cup coming up later in the year. Obviously the Aussies will be favourites, with NZ and England the only real other possible winners. When it comes to the teams I reckon that England can match up in the forwards, but Australia have much the better backs. The pace and creativity of Billy Slater at full back, Israel Folau, and Greg Inglis in the centres, and Darren Lockyer (if fit) and Jonathan Thurston at half back would be too much for the England backs I think. Would that be a fair comment? Hopefully England beat the Aussies in Melbourne in the group though as I’ll be there for that, as well as getting through to the final and giving it a good pop.

Doubts are creeping in about my emotions towards football, the money, the distance between the fans and the players, the cunts on sky, the greed, foreign ownership, the lack of loyality, parasites e.t.c I know some of these things have existed for a long time and maybe I chose to ignore them but at this precise moment at 28 I feel a little like maybe Istanbul will be the peak of it all, hopefully this is just a passing phase, does anyone else feel the same?
