  1. John Terry's father admits dealing cocaine Terry's counsel said he had been "targeted" by journalists The father of the Chelsea and former England captain John Terry has pleaded guilty to dealing cocaine. Edward Terry, 56, from Chavvord Hundred, Essex, appeared before Basildon magistrates and admitted a charge of supplying the Class A drug. The court was told he supplied it to an undercover newspaper reporter in a winebar in Chafford Hundred, in 2009. Terry's counsel Neil Saunders said he had been "targeted" by journalists because he was John Terry's father. Mr Saunders said his client was "embarrassed" because of the upset the incident, in November, had caused to his son. "(He) was targeted by the News of the World," Mr Saunders told the court. "They spent seven weeks, four nights a week, trying to find out something about him to use on the front page." Prosecutor Ricky Khagram said Terry had supplied drugs to a News of the World reporter called Dan Sanderson, posing as a chauffeur, and had been paid a total of £160. Mr Saunders said Terry had been out with friends and had drunk a "considerable amount". He added: "Of course he is embarrassed for the upset he has caused to his son - and that is the reason he was targeted." Presiding magistrate John Toplis said the case was "unusual" and ruled that a Crown Court judge should pass sentence. Terry, who was released on bail, did not comment when he left court and spoke only to confirm his personal details and enter a guilty plea during the hearing. He will be sentenced at Basildon Crown Court on 1 June and was released on bail. BBC News - John Terry's father admits dealing cocaine I would have thought it would take more than your father being a convicted drug dealer to "embarrass" a person like John Terry, but there you go.
