  1. Liverpool FC unveil new mascot, Mighty Red - Liverpool Local News - News - Liverpool Echo LIVERPOOL FC unveiled a new club mascot during a children’s party at Anfield. The mascot, Mighty Red, surprised more than 50 young Liverpool fans when he made his first public appearance. The new mascot, which is based on the club’s famous Liver bird emblem, will help with the club’s community work and will travel with the Liverpool FC Foundation to meet children all over the world. The launch event for Mighty Red took place at the Boot Room Sports Cafe and included a visit from European Cup winner Alan Kennedy. The event marked the beginning of a new campaign aiming to enhance the experience for young LFC supporters. The children were treated to a photo with the Carling Cup trophy and competed in a quiz. Mighty Red then made his appearance, dancing his way into the room as You’ll Never Walk Alone was played. The mascot has his own Facebook page and can also be followed on Twitter. It is hoped in future seasons Mighty Red will be making appearances at Anfield on match days. Speaking after the event, Mighty Red said: “I feel like the luckiest LFC supporter ever.” Andrew Parkinson, LFC Operations Director, said: “Our younger fans are an important part of the club’s future and we’re really excited about the forthcoming season. “We’ve spent a lot of time over the past 12 months listening to lots of our younger fans and what it means to them to be a Liverpool fan. “We know that we need to talk to them about the club in a different way to our adult fans, so Mighty Red is someone who can help us do just that. “We are very excited about Mighty Red being the new addition to the LFC family.” = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = "It is hoped in future seasons Mighty Red will be making appearances at Anfield on match days." No. No it fucking isn't. If there is a place for these things, then children's parties are it. There's an LFC road-sweeper truck comes up our street every Monday. I don't want either of these ugly red monstrosities ruining my match.
