  1. Work-rate. Incisiveness. Nous. I don't ask for much. This is how it's gonna be. Build from the ground up. Another Sunday 2:00pm kick-off. These are going to become the norm while we are still competing in the Europa League, and going by what I've read about the next TV deal, there will be more live TV slots at this time so it will become a norm regardless. They are going out of their way to avoid have live football at 3:00pm on a Saturday. The reasons behind why that rule was brought in surely cannot be relevant now in an age of live streaming. The people that want to go and watch Rotherham or Accrington Stanley or whoever will go regardless. There are loads of people who prefer the more down-to-earth vibe (and certainly more financially responsible governance) of the EFL divisions than the WWE-level drama and hypocrisy of the Premier League. This fixture last last April was one of those games where we lacked concentration defensively, allowing it to be a far closer-run affair than it ought to have been. We'd been superior on set-pieces and should have scored at least once in the first half. Reds old boy Nico Williams cleared one off the line, and Diogo headed wide at the far post when it seemed easier to score. He made amends in the second half, getting on the end of Fab's header after we'd won the initial header (again) from a Trent (our Trent, not theirs!) corner to nod home from a yard out. Williams got Forest an equaliser out of nowhere, running on to a pass out wide and hitting a low effort that cannoned off the covering Robbo and looped over Ali who was going the other way to cover the initial shot. Sloppy. We regained the lead when Forest didn't defend another set-piece - Diogo finding acres of space to chest the ball down, swivel and fire an accurate volley into the far corner past Navas. Forest again levelled via the sort of alehouse route that so many teams employ against us. Long throw-in, cause mayhem on the first ball, be first to the second ball. Gibbs-White was the beneficiary, firing a low volley of his own into the back of the net via a couple of deflections off Ibou and Trent. Mo grabbed what proved to be the winner, firing in Trent's right wing free kick in off the post. We had been doing the right things going forward, but it was the sloppiness at the back that made it a nervy affair. Awoniyi (another former Red although he never played for us) hit an overhead kick onto the roof of the net, and Johnson ran in and lobbed Ali but the ball came back off the bar as Forest chased another equaliser. Both were the result of hesitancy from us and pinball in the box breaking Forest's way. Forest look to me a similar side to last year, which I guess you can expect having signed a load of new players again this summer. Not exactly signing a whole new squad like in the previous season, but still a large turnover of players. A combination of some good play, some utter shitness, a lot of disjointedness thanks to so many new faces, and yet a bit of spirit about them. They have Matt Turner in goal now, and Big Div is another ex Red on their books having joined on loan from Milan. They also have Montiel on loan from Sevilla which I had no idea about. His was the winning penalty in the World Cup final. Steve Cooper has them in that zone where they don't look in danger of relegation or challengers for a European place. He's done a similar job to Gary O'Neil at Bournemouth last year, only with higher profile players. Curtis is still suspended for this one, and Robbo, Thiago and Baj are still unavailable, but everyone else should be ready and raring. I would love to see Darwin cause his unique brand of havoc again, and he needs a run to build some momentum. We've seen glimpses of what he is capable of, so it only stands to reason that when he really gets into a groove, he could absolutely destroy teams with his combination of strength, pace, skill, determination and finishing (he can finish!). We must make sure we are fully switched on from first minute to last, with none of the sloppiness on display from last season's game. Concentration, attitude and application again. Grab the 3 points and hopefully play really well. Get it done!
