I watched a documentary on Jack Johnson, the first black heavyweight champion of the world, last week and, in it, there was a discussion about the mystique of carrying that belt. They were saying that, at the time, it was only behind being a General. One journalist described it as being the "emperor of the masculinity", which I thought was outstanding. Ali was drawn to turning professional because, he thought being the heavyweight of the world sounded as if it was filled with glory and awe; Apollo Creed told Rocky that "we held the greatest title in the whole world, baby!".
Obviously I wondered if there were other titles that people thought were naturally boss and, or, inspiring?
