  1. 12th February 2012 Liverpool Football Club is delighted to announce the introduction of a new club crest effective the start of the 2012-13 season. To celebrate our record breaking deal with Warrior Sports, it was seen as natural for us to begin this new era with a new badge depicting six of our greatest managers, each of whom has added something magical, something intangible to the very diverse pot that is Liverpool Football Club. Entitled "Success Has Many Fathers", the legends it depicts are: Bill Shankly - The architect of our success, the father of the modern day Liverpool FC. Bob Paisley - Faced with the impossible task of succeeding Shanks, Bob combined great dignity with success that surpassed even Bill's. He also handed a jersey to Howard Gayle, the first black player to represent Liverpool Football Club. Joe Fagan - In his brief tenure, Joe landed three trophies, with the league title and European Cup among them. Kenny Dalglish - Our greatest ever player became a manager whose team took pass and move football to perhaps its greatest heights. Dalglish's first spell was also notable for bringing in John Barnes, the club's first black signing. Rafa Benitez - His first season at the club saw the European Cup return to Anfield for the first time in 21 years. Roy Hodgson - The man whose dignity and conciliatory nature set the tone for a new era at Liverpool Football Club, ushered in by the arrival of Fenway Sports Group and the hope of a brighter future. While Roy was unable to turn his astonishing off-field success into Premiership points, his gentlemanly conduct set the course for the club's future direction, and for that reason alone, he more than earns his place as the most recent of Liverpool's great torch holders. Managing Director Ian Ayre says "This is a landmark day for the club. Following the introduction of Warrior Sports as our new kit provider, we all thought that it was time to do something special and this new crest, this clarion call - a glance at the past while keeping our eyes firmly fixed on the future - is most certainly that. We're thrilled that our rich and very diverse history can be given a tribute in this way; The Liverpool Way".
