I'm about 11 months into an 18 month contract with o2. My blackberry started acting up a bit a few months back, with the scroller button being a bit temperamental. Sometimes it wouldn't scroll downwards, but other times it was fine. As the weeks went by, it got worse, and then permanently stopped scrolling upwards.
So I took it back to the shop, and they sent it to get repaired. That was over two weeks ago, and today I got a call from the repairs dept saying they won't fix it, as the engineers found liquid on the main board or something, and it is irrepairable. They won't issue a new phone, as they say it's my fault.
I don't have insurance on it, but I don't believe the whole 'liquid' thing anyway. I've never spilt anything on it, so the only liquid it could be is rain, and I can't see that being the problem.
If I'd spilt something on it, surely it would have stopped working within days of that happening. Like I say, this was going on for weeks, getting steadily worse until I had to take it in to the shop. Initially I thought there must be a bit of grit or something stuck behind the scrolling ball, as sometimes it would work fine.
So, has anyone else had this kind of situation, and where do I stand on fighting them to get a new phone?
