Sorry to bore you all with this work related thread on a bloody Friday night of all nights, but work was the last thing I thought I'd be thinking about this evening when I got up for work this morning. Went into work like any other day, about an hour or two into it I'm called to the downstairs office. I Walk in, sit down then and a member of staff proceeds to give me the heads up on a situation brewing at head office. He mentions that Admin is due, in a couple of months, to be centralized to one location (I'm a branch Administrator, by the way) then mentions to me that obviously I will be made redundant when this comes to happen. It goes into detail and I'm made aware that if I hand in my notice before the other Administrators in the company are made aware of this then I'd receive "a tax free" package for all my years working for the company, no one else will receive this so I am advised to contact the MD's to discuss the amount of pay off I receive. I asked then if the MD's would be ok for me to contact them, so they know that I know what's happening. The meeting ended after I made the point of going over everything that's sad, to confirm what he's told me and I'm aware of everything that's being said verbally. I am again advised to contact the owners to discuss the tax-free redundancy pay before it's too late and to also not mention this to anyone else in the company. Wrote a massive email to them both mentioning all the details given to me from the meeting, took me bloody hours making sure I covered every angle from the points given to me and waiting. Had a response 20mins before the end of the day saying that they didn't have a clue what this member of staff was saying basicly saying that nothing has been decided and my position is safe and that I will be the first to know if they decide to let me go. WHAT THE FUCK?!?!? Sat on my desk trying to be professional as possible without worrying about the future. Mrs Jnp only started her new job this month after months of her being out of work (made redundant last Autumn) and a couple of days ago she got paid, she this month is the first month for about five months where we've actually been financially stable. What the hell do I think? I don’t know if this is a case of this member of staff hearing something or just assuming that I’m going to be let go. I wouldn’t have thought that it’s a blag by the member of staff as I wouldn’t have been ok’d to contact the owners, on the other hand I don’t know if it’s him hearing ideas at meetings then deciding to tell me like it’s set in stone. Hell me GF!! do I look for a new job or just stick it out and see what happens?
