Morning all,
Right I'll lay my cards on the table straight away. I was disgusted about the anti-beans sentiment that was rife on this forum and decided to do something about it, proof either way if you will about beans on a fry-up.
I've been working in a pub over the summer holiday, and as such have access to a large sample base, the pub has a very mixed clientèle and as such is perfect for action research.
I created a questionnaire, yeah I'm that sad, and gave the questionnaire to one hundred people, which is available on request.
The central question, which I don't feel is leading in the slightest, was 'What would you expect to arrive on a fry-up if you ordered one somewhere you'd never been before?'
I put ten options down, I didn't want to add Irish/Scottish variation because I think it would confuse matters.
The options, and results, follow bellow in percentage form.
Bacon 100%
Sausage 100%
Egg (Any type) 100%
Beans 89%
Toast/Bread 100%
Mushrooms 63%
Tomatoes (Any type) 72%
Black Pudding 36%
Fried Bread 38%
Hash Browns 43%
Them's fact right there, Beans are statistically more favourable than Tomatoes, Black Pudding, Mushrooms and pretty much everything else.
Beans belong on a Fry-up and scientific endeavour has proved it.
Now can we put this debate to bed?
