Hopefully with Hicks and Gillett on their way out we can concentrate on the other big problem at our club that has gone unnoticed for a while. Danny Murphy came out with comments today about Liverpool having a lot of Spanish players and staff previously which was not what the club was about according to him. It's no secret that Danny is mates with Carra and Stevie. It's no secret that Carra and Stevie were not unhappy with Rafa's exit (it is open to debate how active they were in his removal, I'd suggest they were very active). Neither of our so-called figureheads have mourned Rafa's demise and both have been quoted as saying they wanted an Englishman in charge. Both also are constantly going on about giving the local or English lads a chance like Darby, Spearing and Kelly (read their books). Hopefully the new owners will do away with this most unliverpool-like and unsavoury of elements. I'd prefer to have 11 lads from different countries fighting as a united team than an English element at the core sneering at those who don't share in the bulldog spirit The little Englander mentality is wrong for a number of reasons - there is no reason to believe that just because a manager is English it will somehow mean he will be more effective (Roy already looks like disproving their theory that an Englishman in charge will make a difference, scratch that he is actually proving their theory that an Englishman in charge will make a difference, a big negative difference) -there is no reason to select local or Liverpool lads just because they are local or from Liverpool. Most of these lads will never be good enough, maybe Kelly has a chance of the current bunch on the fringes, some of the younger kids look to have potential too but I couldn't care less if we had 11 players from Madagascar if we won the title -I am worried that our figureheads are being too influenced by little Englander media sources like the Sun and Sky Sports which says British is best. Shankly built up the club on socialist principles, not an extreme right-wing Brit-first philosophy. -Speculation here but since the Arbeloa v Carra clash it seems there may well be a divide between the English lads and the foreigners with a few good guy diplomats in the middle (Kuyt, Lucas and previously Alonso who knitted the Spanish-Anglo factions). Look at Stevie's equalizer at Sunderland, it seems he and Torres consciously avoided each other and since Rafa's demise there are rumours there is some discontent about the level of influence Carra and Stevie have. The Spanish element, it is rumoured, are a tad pissed off that the two local lads all but handpicked this guy and he isn't the genius they had been led to believe he was. -It seems Roy has actively sought to end the policy of importing foreign youngsters and perhaps this policy was agreed upon after discussions with Purslow, Stevie G and Carra. -Roy's long-term policy seems to be to Anglicise the team (with perhaps a few hard-working Scandinivians thrown in). He bought Konchesky, he bid for Crouch and Carlton Cole and of course he was eager to the point of obsession to get Joe Cole in. Meanwhile other targets like Van Der Vaart, Javi Martinez and Loic Remy were passed over. I don't like how this ideology has spread through the club, first from the two senior players, then through to the manager and now influencing transfer decisions and dressing-room morale. What next? Roast-beef and yorkshire pudding on the menu every day, maybe a Union Jack flying over the stadium. I wish Stevie and Carra would shut the fcuk up and stop meddling in issues they have absolutely no right to meddle in. Their English drive so far has yielded us the wrong manager and players who aren't good enough. We are in the relegation zone and playing the worst football I've ever seen in my time supporting the club. But despite the hard evidence before my eyes and in the league table, Carra and Stevie and the likes of Danny Murphy and Stevie Bruce and Harry Redknapp tell us to be patient and that Roy is great and wonderful. This is not the club I know, get rid of this little Englander thing before it sweeps through the whole club like a virus (if it hasn't already done so) driving away talented people from the club and creating divisions everywhere. This is a real problem at the club now and it needs to be dealt with before it's too late. Therefore I hope the new owners do away with this most unsavoury and unLiverpool-like of elements. I'd prefer 11 guys from the far-flung corners of the club playing as a team, fighting for each other than have an English core to the team sneering at the foreign lads because they don't share in their mythical bulldog spirit.
