*warning boring post alert!!*
Currently there benefit of the doubt on off-sides isn't implemented properly. As a result of this, valid goals are being chalked off and paying spectators are being denied great football by poor rule implementation.
Here is one solution...
Scenario 1 - If a linesman raises his flag and he is wrong then he should be sacked immediately after the game - actually just demoted frrom that level of football.
Why? Because he was unable to assess a piece of split second timing from a professional athlete. Or put another way he failed to exercise benefit of doubt. There had to be some doubt because he was wrong.
Why is this case so important? Because it deprives the spectators of a valid goalscoring opportunity.
Scenario 2 - If the linesman does not raise his flag when he should have done, then he gets a mild warning on future conduct from his superior.
Why the lesser punishment? Because he correctly exercised the benefit of doubt to an attacker.
Result of these minor rule implementations - more valid goals and a few invalid goals.
Football is broken #2 is coming soon - bet ya can't wait!
