  1. Lovely assist. Lovely clearance off the line. Lovely show of character throughout the game. Just a lovely lad.

Also did well to escape the emphatic finish into his own net being classed as an own goal. Real lovely.

Salah has played in 48 games this year and has 5 assists. That is less than half of what he got the previous two years (12 and 13) - and a third of what he had his first season. (16)

We have been brutal at finishing but that seems strange.

You already answered it here. In the past month, I can recall more than a few chances which Salah set up for others. 3 clear ones for Mane in particular which were all wasted. Our brutal finishing is what has limited the number of assists he has recorded this season.

Not exempting Salah himself from some of our shit finishing, which has also denied some other Liverpool players a number of assists.

  3. It is a mad stat indeed, regarding Salah and Mane. But them not combining for a goal is predictably being spun by some people to imply they've rarely been setting up chances for each other. I however don't think it is for want of trying.

I can recall at least 5 good chances Salah has set up for Mane in the past few games, which were all wasted. And there were at least 2 or 3 Mane set up for Salah in that period too, which also got wasted. I'm sure there were more such chances earlier in the season which all of us would have forgotten about too. Also, I reckon that stat is only for the PL. Because Salah has actually assisted Mane in the CL this season.

My mate said to me earlier in the week that West Ham could win all their remaining games, I answered that it was just as likely they would lose all four.

They have these games left, hardly big favourites in any of them.

Brighton would probably be the only tough game there for West Ham. But they would be missing Dunk and Maupay for that game. Dunk especially is an important player for Brighton.

West Brom are already relegated and Southampton are on the beach now. Not a stretch at all to say that West Ham would get at least 7 points from those games.

  5. With City losing tonight, Man Utd would now be thinking there is still a chance for them to take it to the wire.

So it's likely Ole wont follow through with his implied threat of playing the u23s vs Leicester. That's good for us, provided we actually win tonight.

“Scoring goals hasn’t been Liverpool's problem this season in terms of winning matches - as they have scored plenty of goals. The issues have been with the defensive play."

Ha! Was scrolling through the thread to see if anyone had flagged that.

Considering we have 20 odd goals fewer than at the same stage last season, I'd have thought it was clear that scoring enough goals is certainly an issue for us this season.

Which reminds me of another...the bullshit goal City scored when one of their players clearly ran from behind the defender 20 yards back after an attack and nicked the ball of the defenders toes. Utter bullshit.

And then every fucking nobody claiming that it was ok because of phases and other such garbage.

And even worse, the PGMOL later agreed to "fix" that rule to ensure no other team ever benefited from it like City did.

  8. It was laughable when Villa scored the 2nd goal last night and the commentator went - "Would have taken something spectacular to beat Pickford tonight". Ignoring the fact that Villa's 1st goal had been anything but spectacular.

Spectacularly bad defending from Holgate, perhaps.

Some superb finishing and set piece prowess there. It's a pity he just cant seem to break into our squad. Think his lack of pace and physicality was never going to make him the type of forward player Klopp usually fancies.

Just have to hope we get a very decent fee for him based on his exploits this season. This hattrick should help.

  10. Top, top Boris Johnson analysis right there, Dave.

I also agree with you regarding the "inside training" videos. Haven't watched those in the past couple months because it is depressing seeing these lads look so confident in training, only to shit themselves on match day. To cheer myself up, I genuinely spent an hour or so today, catching up on the last few 10 minute highlights videos of the u-18s. Goals galore.

Regarding Konate, I'm thinking it is harsh to judge him from the quality of Leipzig's defence in our 2 games. Especially when he didn't play in either game!! Our medical team must be confident that there won't be long lasting effects arising from his one significant long term injury. So we'll just have to wait and see, I guess.

Im getting worried now, amazing goal by Salah today, but very unusual for him to miss a one on one like his second big chance.

Mane, I have no idea whats going on with him, it looks like his confidence might be shit to pieces.

Firmino is finished and Jota is allowed a bad day.

We should hav escored at least three goals today, could have been more.

Salah needs to trust his right foot more. That 1 v 1 chance he had, he could easily have taken it round the keeper onto his right foot to slot it home. Decided to poke it with his left foot, straight at the goalie.

Mane's head is wrecked. People have criticised him for laughing after missing his 1 v 1 chance from Salah's pass. But I think he was simply wondering "what kind of fuckery did I just do?" It wasn't a laugh that implied he didn't give a fuck. It was a kind of laugh that implies he can't just believe how shit he has become in front of goal. Even when he scored vs Leeds, you sensed it was a nervous finish. The ball went rolling into the bottom corner when he had the whole net to aim at.

For me, Jota is a bit of a worry. He came back from injury on fire. But now looks as if he has been infected by Mane and Firmino. 4 games without a goal despite numerous chances.
