Mrs HL started making her own sourdough a couple of weeks ago. This is the second loaf of a twin batch baked today.

First class. Do you guys have a breadmaker? Hand mixing the dough?

  2. Hmmm fascinating. Finished reading Penn Jillette’s weightloss book “Presto” in which he details going from death’s door to a healthy lifestyle with a prognosis of ‘good long term health’.

His ‘reset’ started with 2 weeks of nothing -and I mean absolutely nothing- except potatoes. Not even any added salt..in fact definitely no added salt, because it raises blood pressure and Penn’s blood pressure was 240/120 when he rocked up to ED after collapsing in a show. No caffeine (little known fact-caffeine temporarily raises blood pressure, but if you have a caffeine ‘allergy’ blood pressure does not return to normal after having caffeine)

Anyway! My blood pressure has been edging up of late, so I thought, bugger it, I’ll try this. Lasted one week, and literally got so sick of spuds I had to introduce bananas (another starch) so 2nd week spuds & bananas. I’m watching my blood pressure TUMBLE from a very stubborn 160/90 to anything from 125/80 to 108/75. Brilliant. Weening myself off meds and slowly introducing more whole food plants. Not sure where I’ll end up, in terms of a lifestyle food plan, but I think I’ll be permanently decaf, no added salt (using a potassium salt instead) low fat no ultra processed food for life from here on in.

  3. If memory serves me correct, this is the first time under Klopp that we have competed in the Europa League AND been in a Title challenge. That is a disadvantage I think, because we play Thursday night games, and although we then usually play on Sunday, it gives our main rivals an extra day’s recovery because City & Arsenal are in the Champions League playing in tues & weds nights. Could this explain why we haven’t beaten them this season over those four games? Possibly.

Another weekend completely skewed by referees and VAR. So many games were unduly influenced by it, with West Ham and Burnley getting especially fucked over.

I don’t understand referees at all you know. If I was a ref and I was watching games that I wasn’t in charge of, I’d be making a mental note of who the biggest cheating cunts are and I’d be making sure they don’t get anything from me unless it’s absolutely stonewall.

Top of that list, even above Richarlison and Fernandes, would be that Myra Hindley looking twat at Newcastle. I’d never give him anything, because his first thought in any situation is to cheat. He’ll only cross or shoot if the dive isn’t on, and he’s not even very good at it. You can tell immediately what he’s done. Most of us can anyway.

That soft cunt ref at the weekend needs his arse kicking, and even more so the bellend on VAR. Gordon does the same thing for both pens. Since when has just sticking your leg in front of a defender as he tries to clear the ball been a foul? I don’t mean when you’re the one in possession and you step in front to shield it, I mean just coming from nowhere, completely ignoring the ball and just planting your foot there as the defender is about to kick the ball.

He did it twice and got two penalties. He’s a horrible, cheating little shitbag but if refs are going to reward it then I don’t blame him. He’s won that game for his team with his cheating, so as long as the refs are too stupid to realise then he’ll keep doing it. Maybe they’re after side gigs in Saudi, or maybe they’re just incompetent. Either way, Moyes had a right to be furious after this but he was fairly restrained under the circumstances.

Isak converted the first penalty to put Newcastle ahead but the Hammers came roaring back. Antonio equalised when he ran onto a pass by Paqueta and finished well. Kudus made it 2-1 with a goal that had Newcastle’s players protesting. Nothing wrong with that, Kudus was fouled by Schar who was rolling around on the floor feigning a facial injury. Ward-Prowse took a free-kick and Kudus ended up scoring. The ref did the right thing in letting that free-kick be taken, as why should Newcastle benefit from committing a foul?

Bowen made it 3-1 with a composed finish after being picked out by the lively Kudus. Cracking counter attack goal that, but Newcastle’s defenders were nowhere to be seen.

Kudus isn’t consistent but when he’s on it he’s fucking boss. With him, Bowen, Paqueta and Ward-Prowse the Hammers have got some real talent. They need a centre forward though badly. Antonio is not the answer, unless the question is “which striker has a handful of great games a season, spends the rest of the time being injured or shit and mocks other fellow professionals on a podcast with fellow crock Calum Wilson?”

Longstaff made a mess of a good opportunity and the crowd turned on Newcastle. Then VAR got them back into it. The ref didn’t give the penalty but VAR sent him to the screen and then he did. Here’s the huge problem I have with this. All season we’ve been told that VAR doesn’t get involved with penalty decisions unless it’s a howler. Yet somehow this foul by Gordon on Phillips was seen as a penalty the other way. It’s a fucking disgrace really.

Isak buried the pen again and then sub Harvey Barnes bagged a brace to win it for Newcastle. Moyes is getting pelters from the Hammers fans because he subbed Antonio for Phillips and that’s when it all started to go wrong, but the penalty changed everything really.

Gordon was sent off for two yellows. Should have been at least four considering the two penalties he cheated to win, the horrible cunt. He’s destined to end up at United him. Mark my words. He’ll be there in a year or two, going the full Rooney See No Evil Hear No Evil as their fans are chanting about scouse this and scouse that.

I had the distinct pleasure of watching the 1986 F.A. Cup final over the weekend. I do occasionally go back and relive those legendary past glories. I was struck by the complete lack of ‘hands on’ by all defenders on both sides. It just wasn’t tolerated.

Fast forward to Maguire wrapping arms around Bradley today and literally throwing him to the ground. Not just once either. The absolute state of the game today. Once you allow a certain amount of contact into the sport, the refs and VAR get total control as to the degree of the contact and its too fucking subjective. I’m disgusted.

  5. I’ll be honest. A draw is better than I expected. I had a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach for the last 2 days, especially after the other 2 won their games. We could have been well beaten there when we went behind, but we rallied, earned the penalty, and Mo didn’t miss it-which in itself at the moment is a fucking miracle.

City and Arsenal drew and now we’ve drawn. There could be more of it to come.

Pretty shocking not beating this Man U team over three games in on one season.

    Ten Haag just gets us.

its really about a decades long rivalry where two clubs hate losing to each other. Our new players perhaps haven’t grasped the rivalry yet. We aren’t approaching games against this lot with a killer instinct.

We've had over 90 shots in the3 games against them this season and hit the target only 26 times. And only 5 goals to show from it all.

Our conversion rate must be the worst in the league. 7, count them, FUCKING SEVEN big chances today, and an xg of 3.5 to their 0.7! And we barely scraped a fucking draw!

Let them fucking walk home the cunts. Once bitten twice shy. My god, we've been bitten bout 10 times this season.

Mane and Bobby would've had a hat trick each today, as would jota.

Feel sorry for quansah as he's been brilliant and his mistake should've been a talking point in a game they lost 5.1.

As much as i love this club, i fucking hate that shower at the moment.

earlier in the season we were getting ‘filler’ goals from midfield. That seems to be lacking lately except macca’s boomer. Van Dyke won us the cup.

People aren’t being fannies. People are rightly pissed off because we’re too casual up front and too casual in defence. Quansah needs to be read the riot act. Despite the plaudits he’s a long way from being VVD.

It’s a rare mistake, but clearly we don’t want it in a massive game like this..but just look at the amount of youngsters carrying the ream-Bradley, Quansah, Kelleher in goal doing a pretty sterling job.

By rights, we shouldn’t really be in a Title race. We’re really a team in transition, but crickey dick we need a ruthless finisher.

  9. We’ve had a poor season against our rivals.

That’s been the difference for us, but if we’re honest, its the fact City & Arsenal have dropped points quite a bit that has given us a title run-in.

We are just not capable of the ruthlessness that we need. Jota is by far our best finisher, but has languished on & off the bench his whole career with us.

At this stage It’s looking like we’ve bought poor replacements for Mane & Bobby in Lucho and Darwin. Hope they prove me wrong, and christ on a bicycle Mo needs to re-prove he’s a goal scorer in the last 7 matches. Is he? Or can he go with Klopp?
