I’ve still got one of those in near perfect condition. It was our worst change strip until Warrior made some absolute shockers.

Still got mine as well (and the home one from that year) and it’s also in decent condition. Some of the more recent ones don’t last very long though.

  2. As a newbie to the podcasts I am enjoying them enormously and listening to this weeks and the comments around the number of games we are likely to play I had a thought about next season and when we will be under new management.

The last time we went for all four competitions it ended with heartbreak in the league and Champions League. That knocked us for six at the start of the next season and we were frankly dreadful for much of the season.

My fear is that if this happens again then any new manager will not have built up the rapport and goodwill from the fans and will be under immediate pressure should this happen. Curious to know your thoughts on that.

Also, Chris is really Richard Ayoade in disguise? Vocally very similar!

I was thinking about this the other day, how hilarious it would be for Kane to go to a club that have won 11 (eleven!!) titles in a row and come away with nothing. You can take the lad out of Spurs...

I'm happy that there seems to be the directive of going with the onfield decision now with a lot of decisions. If VAR are only going to intervene when its horrifically clear that the ref has missed something, then fine, as we all assumed that was the intention with VAR originally, instead of poring over miniscule offsides and everything being "by the book". I can take all three of those pen incidents not being given, because a) the ref has made the decision on the pitch so let's abide by it, as long as it remains consistent and b) we won and none of them really affected the outcome.

Who do we have as a fitness coach? Darren Anderton?

Where would you even play him in the current team? The 6?

Can’t see him getting in instead of Macca, so he’s maybe second choice above Endo?

Not sure he's fit enough or robust enough to play that anymore.

He did have Messi alongside at Barca which may have helped just a little

Are you saying the forward line of Lambert, Balotelli, Borini and Sturridge wouldn't have had the same impact as Messi?

What’s wrong with just making shit up?

Absolutely nothing, as I was saying to Suarez the other day, "without this making stuff up shit, you and I would never have met..."

I think I may have said previously on this thread or elsewhere that contract length is a huge driver in football, the number of players who up their standard of performance in the last year of a contract or when they want a new deal is countless. This seems to have been missed amongst the 'we're disrupting football via elongated amortisation' crew at that rancid club. Hopefully the mercenaries will continue to underperform and it'll wreck them over the long term.

Of course adding to this in shipping out the home grown players the numbers of individuals with an actual attachment to them will decline in the dressing room.

It can't be good to give a contract to a young player that basically covers him for the majority of his career. Of course there will be individuals who will be driven to succeed no matter what they receive as financial reward, but not sure how many are currently sitting in the Chelsea dressing room.

They are playing well above a relegation fodder side but they need to calm down, they beat Newcastle who look genuinely fucked and Chelsea who are currently a shit show and were battered by United, ( we will still draw against them again). Getting results by no means is the mighty Everton Giant giving it too the man it merely highlights they bought players when they had no right to and are still benefitting from that cheating. They should be demoted and given a transfer ban. Then we will see real consequences to thumbing your nose up at rules other clubs abided by, some balls to be claiming corruption and being hard done by... the teams who were relegated they are the ones who should be screaming corruption.

Agree with most of that but not sure that they were battered by United. I think they were unlucky to lose that but not going to comment on United's form until after the game finishes on Sunday!

I hope Mo doesn't listen in. Pure disrespect, 2nd is a certainty. I don't think first is out of the question, 16 more this season leaves him 130 behind. He will play for another 5 or 6 years, it's not unlikely imo.

Depends on how long he wants to stay at Liverpool. I can see that in a couple of years a last massive payout would be good for him and the club.

Regardless, he's cemented his place as a legend will be this generations' Hunt or Rush.
