  1. Not sure that we can congratulate Atalanta on forcing our players to underhit passes, stroll around like they were already in the final and this was just an annoying step to take to get there. Love this team but I was so pissed off at half time, expected it to get better in the second half and found it got worse.

Atalanta played a system that the TNT team knew about so we should have expected it. And makING me listen to Steve MacfuckINGmanaman for two hours with nothING to show for it. Criminal.

Can’t stand the miserable cunt. One of the worst ‘pundits’ in a sea of shite pundits. Really really really gets on my fucking tits.

When I read the story I reacted in the traditional Danny Murphy co-commentary style.

    “Yep”

  3. The romantic in me says Alonso would be the perfect choice but the pragmatist says that he's had one outstanding season taking a small team to the league. The German equivalent of Leicester.

I can understand that he wants to prove this is not a one-off but it either goes tits-up for him and he doesn't get any offers, or he has another spectacular year blocking Harry Kane from a trophy and has the pick of where he wants to go.

I think he will go to Madrid. He's Spanish, and ex-player and he will see it as the biggest challenge. Timing will fit better for him if it's next year or the year after.

  4. Keep offside as it is, if VAR can't decide within one minute then it's level (how many times have we seen level since the beginning of VAR?).

Then make sure you have competent people using VAR.

    Oh fuck...

It's just struck me that I've hardly really missed football at all during the international break.

I've not watched any international games and I'm actually looking forward to watching football now but I've not missed the shithouse cheating players, the inept officiating or the stress of our injury list and trying to keep up with the gooners and Abu Dhabi fc.

If we can just win everything now please, it'll be a thoroughly enjoyable summer without footy especially as it's an Olympic year.

Aren't the Euros on this summer?

Yeah i agree completely, that's kind of what I saying earlier in the thread. The two games we've had with them recently are an exception to that in the sense that we weren't dragged down to their level and they didn't raise their level to get close to ours. We were vastly superior in both games (first 20 mins and then last 5 of this latest one excluded, I'm not including extra time) but didn't make it count because we kept making terrible decisions or when we made the right ones we fucked up the pass.

It's completely infuriating, because if we got it right we'd be looking at a similar scoreline to last season at Anfield or the season before at Old Trafford.

Just stop being shit in the final third, you knobheads!!

How have you managed to get hold of Klopp's team talk for the rest of the season?

It's also worth noting that refereeing decisions eventually decided the two titles that were won by a single point by city. So there's two titles city effectively stole from us due to various forms of cheating, so Klopp by all rights should have 3 PL's right now and who knows what might happen if they are eventually charged. On another point, Klopp on top of all our win's has got us to numerous finals that were we have lost usually by inches, that often gets forgotten, and it's some challenge to fighting on all fronts nearly every season when you have limited resources. I'm not sure what his name is, but that man city chairman (Khalud?), really makes my skin crawl I almost cant watch the interviews i've seen with him, it's all so phoney and you can see right through his bullshit, an absolute unscrupulous cheat with no morals or humility.

It may also be a factor in Juergen finally leaving the club at the end of the season. We’ve questioned the effect on the players under weekly pressure to win and losing out by one point. What effect has that had on the Manager who has to deal with that under the knowledge that he is doing it the right way.

I’m not disagreeing, just football isn’t really reffed that way, even though it should be.

A foul is a foul, but refs bend over backwards to not give a pen.

Football seems to be reffed in whatever way it wants to be. Penalties are given every week for much less than the foul on Macca.

    Every week.

Can't bring myself to watch any other premiership teams to be honest. I'll watch match of the day, but can't watch a full l game anymore that doesn't involve us.

I'll watch a serie A game most weekends though.

I’ve given up on MotD, I watch the YouTube goal highlights. I see the goals and the punditry insight is far better.

I’ve still got one of those in near perfect condition. It was our worst change strip until Warrior made some absolute shockers.

Still got mine as well (and the home one from that year) and it’s also in decent condition. Some of the more recent ones don’t last very long though.

  11. As a newbie to the podcasts I am enjoying them enormously and listening to this weeks and the comments around the number of games we are likely to play I had a thought about next season and when we will be under new management.

The last time we went for all four competitions it ended with heartbreak in the league and Champions League. That knocked us for six at the start of the next season and we were frankly dreadful for much of the season.

My fear is that if this happens again then any new manager will not have built up the rapport and goodwill from the fans and will be under immediate pressure should this happen. Curious to know your thoughts on that.

Also, Chris is really Richard Ayoade in disguise? Vocally very similar!

I was thinking about this the other day, how hilarious it would be for Kane to go to a club that have won 11 (eleven!!) titles in a row and come away with nothing. You can take the lad out of Spurs...

I'm happy that there seems to be the directive of going with the onfield decision now with a lot of decisions. If VAR are only going to intervene when its horrifically clear that the ref has missed something, then fine, as we all assumed that was the intention with VAR originally, instead of poring over miniscule offsides and everything being "by the book". I can take all three of those pen incidents not being given, because a) the ref has made the decision on the pitch so let's abide by it, as long as it remains consistent and b) we won and none of them really affected the outcome.

Who do we have as a fitness coach? Darren Anderton?
