  1. Looking forward to seeing Ibe hopefully play more for us too, he looks like he could be a great player.

Exactly what I was thinking today morning when I read the ESPN article about Sterling. Cant wait for these 2 to tear it up on either side of the field.

  2. Mirror saying that Vermaelen to Utd may be a swap deal with Cleverley. What is Arsene thinking?

Actually, what is the Mirror thinking when they come up with stuff like that? Even Wenger is not such a mentalist to consider taking Cleverly.

  3. On the offal now:

Liverpool FC have today agreed a deal in principle with Bayer Leverkusen to sign 20-year-old Emre Can, subject to documentation being completed.

A versatile German youth international, the Frankfurt-born midfielder made 29 Bundesliga appearances last season, scoring three goals.

His contributions helped Leverkusen finish fourth and secure Champions League qualification, having joined the club from Bayern Munich last summer.

Can clocked up seven appearances in Europe's elite competition during 2013-14, and has previously played at the European U21 Championship and the U17 World Cup.

The news follows the announcement on Monday of England striker Rickie Lambert as the Reds' first signing of the summer transfer window

    Edit: Got beaten. Sorry guys!

  4. Spanish football expert Guillem Balague told Sky Sport News that Barca are keen to offload Fabregas - but that he will not be returning to Arsenal.

"They have told Fabregas to look for a team - but Arsenal are not interested," he said.

"Barca want at least 35m euros - he cost 40m - I think (Barca coach) Luis Enrique has concluded the way he played at Arsenal, he cannot play like that at Barca because it's a more tactically disciplined team.

"Fabregas came to Barcelona and expected something else but what he saw was fans who weren't all happy that he'd cost 40m euros having been developed at La Masia (Barcelona's academy).

"But his stats were really good - he just didn't have the unanimous love of the fans.

"There was a story in one of the Catalan papers on Monday afternoon saying that Chelsea and him have agreed to a deal - that's not true - not yet anyway - but Chelsea are a team would suit him, as would Manchester United.

  5. Our first signing this summer is almost done.

Rickie Lambert is expected to undergo a medical at Liverpool on Saturday after an initial £4m fee was agreed with Southampton.

The Reds had a bid accepted for the 32-year-old and Sky Sports News understands personal terms have been agreed.

Lambert, who was born in Kirkby, was part of the youth team at Anfield before being released at 15 and is a lifelong Liverpool fan.

Southampton legend and Sky Sports expert Matt Le Tissier tweeted: "If Rickie joins lfc I will say good luck to him and thanks for helping to resurrect #sfc it's his boyhood team and in CL.#stillahero."

The centre-forward, who is in England's squad for this summer's World Cup, scored 14 times last season for the Saints, who paid Bristol Rovers £1m for the player's services in August 2009.

Since then he has become an established Premier League striker and scored on his England debut, notching with his first touch in international football after coming on as a substitute against Scotland in August 2013.

A powerful and strong player, Lambert is also a free-kick specialist and has an exceptional penalty record, having scored his past 34 spot-kicks and having never missed for Southampton.

He has played in all four divisions of the Football League and his story is one of resilience, having endured limited success at Blackpool and Macclesfield Town before improving considerably at Rochdale and Rovers.

Lambert's career took off at the Saints, for whom he scored 117 goals in 235 appearances and won two promotions, producing the kind of form that brought him international football and interest from Champions League club Liverpool.

The Reds could unveil Lambert as early as Monday.

  6. Not really sure where you're coming from with this?

If signing Lambert meant we couldn't get the first team players we need, then you'd be right. But it's a bit of a leap to be suggesting that because we're signing Lambert as back up it means we won't have the cash to fill the positions that need filling, surely?

You used the word 'instead' of what we really need. If it is instead then I'm with you, but there's nothing to suggest Lambert won't be brought in as well as what we really need. We've got a £16m bid in for a left back for example.

You've said we shouldn't spend big on a 3rd striker until other areas have been addressed, and I completely agree. It would be pretty daft. That would be a complete luxury signing at this moment in time. Maybe next year once we've filled the areas of real need, but not now.

Even with Borini coming back, it makes sense to add another. I would have been ok with us going into next season with Sturridge, Suarez and Borini as long as we bought a couple of top drawer wide attackers to compliment them, but having Lambert as well is a good insurance policy and the more I think about it we probably need four strikers.

Last year we were basically only playing league games, yet Suarez was completely goosed in the last month of the season. Next year we'll have loads more games so he'll need to be managed more, especially coming off a World Cup and an injury.

Sturridge has been quite injury prone and is unlikely to play an entire season without missing games, so yeah, we probably do need four.

Signing Lambert for the fee quoted is not going to eat into the budget much at all, so I don't see it as being relevant to us buying other players.

If you just don't think he's good enough then that's a different matter of course.

    You nailed it Dave!

  7. Love how so many supporters are so accepting of signings like these. Small time mentality after so many years of being also rans? Chelsea and City will be laughing if this is the type of signing we make to supposedly have a chance of competing with them with the addition of continental competition.

It seems like supporters expect our managers style of play to carry us to glory. Rodgers style and management abilities will take us a ways, but a style of play can only take you so far when your rivals are buying the best players each window, while we continue to shop out of the bargain bin.

The same Chelsea that bought a 33yr old striker on massive wages on a one yr deal and then had their own manager make fun of his age? They are busy laughing at themselves.

We have higher priorities than spending 20mill on a backup striker right now. Lambert is a good choice till we have that liberty.

  8. Bought a Tee of store of our official site because there was worldwide free shipping only to find that custom duties applied in my country cost more than the Tee and that the Tee was a size small :( Dont want to throw it away so have kept it in hope that some yr my kid might wear it.

  9. RIP, will be sadly missed. Hopefully his sons can carry on the good work of draining them of hundreds of million of pounds lowering the quality of their squad as each year passes.

They'll be even more conflicted now.

His sons already took over since he had the stroke in 2006. They were in charge of running it since then. He has never set foot in Old Toilet.

  10. No mention of her on their site
