AND having come from 7th the previous season (never been done before).
Yes it has, several times. It's just not been done since Sky think they invented football in 1992. We've done it 5 times ourselves:
1899/1900 finished 10th - 1900/01 Champions
1904/05 winners of Div 2 - 1905/06 Champions
1937/38 (last complete pre-war season) finished 11th - 1946/47 (1st post-war) Champions
1962/63 finished 8th - 1963/64 Champions
1964/65 finished 7th - 1965/66 Champions
In 1976/77 season Notts Forest won promotion finishing 3rd in the old Div 2. The following season, 1977/78, they were Champions (us as runners up). The next 2 seasons after that they won the European Cup.
Having said all that, will be a phenomenal achievement if we can do it this year up against the 2 oil barons

what did Keane say? I turned it off after the last pen

Why is West Ham vs the Mancs the late kick-off over us though?
Side fighting for their lives vs side fighting for the title or Side a win or two away from safety vs a side who might qualify for the Europa League? Hmmm, what a tough choice.
To be fair though, after this weekend, Sky are showing our next six matches. If you include our last 2 (Utd & Southampton), thay will have shown 8 out of 9 - all of our fixtures, bar one (Cardiff), during March & April. They know we're the best team to watch at the moment. And they haven't released details of May's viewing yet.

Played 34 games in all competitions. Scored 3 goals or more in exactly half. Blimey!

Tony Barrett just tweeted this link

Unbelievable! I know it says he has a serious ACL injury but how the hell did his leg not snap?!

Section's video is brilliant. The bit where the girl repeats '...meat grinder' & then he repeats it adds the handle - fantastic

Just to go slightly off topic - when we're not on TV I go on to RAWK simply for the one solitary good thread on their football forum, it lists a shed led of links to various streams for the game. It's very handy. But, against my better judgement, for some reason, I had a peek at their post-match thread this evening. One question - do any ex-RAWK regulars know who the hell the poster 'Phase of Play' is? He seems to be professing to be some kind of highly qualified, top level coach & he's utterly revered on there. They hang on his every word. If you ask me, the guy is a complete fraud.

I agree with most that we need a central midfielder, especially one that can actually tackle. Must admit though, that as soon as Brendan said he saw Stevie's future in that deeper role I'd resigned myself to the fact that we wouldn't be going after anyone for that position.
Perhaps one other small crumb of comfort to take from this window though is that Everton, Spurs and Arsenal all failed to strengthen their squads too. The guy Arsenal signed isn't even fit! Obviously Everton & Spurs are on our tails for 4th but that's very much in our hands. I honestly think that we could reel Arsenal in too, especially with the terrible run of games they have coming up, which includes coming to Anfield. I think the two oil conglomerates will finish 1st & 2nd, 3rd is still very much up for grabs though.

I don't have BT Sport (watched the game on a Russian sopcast stream). Did they say anything about Mirallas' ridiculous dive in the first half? How, in the name of sanity, was he not booked for that?
-
You're totals are wrong. They only have 4 League Cups.
Therefore it's 41-39 in our favour
We win. They don't

Club Ambassador - Yes
Coach - No. His spells at Celtic & Tranmere were shockingly bad

Re: Enrique not being ready
What the hell is it with players these days?! Some of them practically get changed pitchside. Annoys the crap out of me. Why the shite are they not told to be ready for any eventuality? OK so they need to warm up usually but if the gaffer needs to make a change immediately you should at least have your sodding kit on, including your shinpads & boots! Why do they need 2 pieces of footwear to watch a game? Although it might explain why some of our players over the 15 years appeared to be playing in their slippers.
Remember the good old days when all the sub had to do was whip off the big brown woolly jumper & he was ready? I really am getting old...

The man is from a country where spud jugglers are currently burning each other alive over the union jack schedule is he not?
Well out of order

Anyone else not think that Taylor was dead lucky to still be on the pitch at half-time? Studs high up in to Sterling's stomach. Seen many a red for that, certainly an easy yellow to give & yet the ref made it clear he was booking him more for the accumulation of fouls rather than the fact he'd just tried to cut Sterling in half!
Glad it was Collins the own goal came off too. Especially after his assault on Agger's neck!
EDIT - I see Rushie's Tache beat me to it

My Dad: "He's not good enough."
Me: "He's just a kid!"
My Dad: "He's not good enough."
Me: "You won't be saying that in a few years when he's running our midfield"
We were watching one of Le Tallec's first outings. Oh dear...

Was out with my best-man-to-be last night to discuss some stag plans, so a few pints were had. This morning, the future Mrs H advised that she woke up at about 3am to the most horrendous beer-fart smell. She wasn’t best pleased with my proud smirk when she told me.
Farting is great. It’s what separates us from the animals. Except for cows, and dogs of course. I’ve never heard a cat fart now that I think of it? Or a wasp? But it makes us better then the animals that don’t fart, and Cheggars.
Cats definitely fart. Especially when they get old. You never hear them but they certainly stink

They can't knock it down as its a listed building, I'm not even sure if they can change the structure. So basically they will build a new stadium next to it on the waterfront but do they then own the station which could be apartments or anything I suppose a good earner. It is an iconic building.
According to the BBC report:
"The landmark's four chimneys would be kept as part of a design which includes a 15,000 seat single-tier south stand.....The club say the plans, which would preserve the building's Grade Two listed turbine hall and control room..."
Can't see how they can do that on a listed building.

If you look at the player & staff profile list on the official site Comolli & Kenny are very pointedly given equal billing.

OK. Thanks
I should probably add that although the DVD player will no longer burn discs, weirdly it will still play them & the stuff on the hard drive also still plays fine. Does that make any difference?
-
Cheers guys.
So do I need to remove the hard drive from the DVD player?
Sorry, I'm not very technical, can't even change a plug!
-
Hope someone can help me with this.
The laser in my Panasonic DVD recorder/player has finally given up the ghost and is out of warranty. Can't afford a replacement at the moment and the trouble is, I still have a load of stuff on the hard drive which I'd like to get off. Would I be able to link it up to my laptop? What sort of lead/s would I need?
Any help much appreciated. Many thanks

This. Players turning their backs on a shot, one of my pet hates in football. It's a defenders job to stand big & take the hit. You see it happen all the time in the modern game in all divisions, in all teams. A defender goes out to close down the attacker only to turn side on at the last minute. It drives me nuts.
On a seperate note. I noticed Alex Inglethorpe was on the bench last night. Probably a little reward for his work with the under-21's this season which is a nice touch if that's what it was. But where was Mike Marsh? I didn't see him. Was he ill? Anyone know?
