  1. He's a young defender who hasn't been given a run of games since he's been here, so he's bound to have mistakes in him.

Carragher and Skrtel make plenty themselves.

I also think that Skrtel is playing average at the moment. But he was excellent during those 18 months under Kennny and didn´t make any mistake leading to goal for almost a year. Now he makes 2 mistakes and suddenly it is "plenty".

Also Danny Agger makes mistakes, but he still gets immune for it somehow.

Every player makes mistakes but the mistakes of CBs hurt a little bit more. Missing sitters like Suarez has done at least 5 times during last month are equal with own goals and other capital mistakes made by defenders.

  2. I reckon its time to give him a go in the League along side Agger, thought Skrtel was brilliant last year but nowhere near his best so far this time out and Coates is impressing me everytime he plays

there was a couple of situations tonight where Di Natale was getting set to run at him one on one, many experienced and top defenders would've shit themselves in that situation, Sebby just barges through him taking the ball at the same time

i would also give him chance in league against Stoke but maybe beside Skrtel....Martin is better in the air as Daniel, and Agger hasn´t been much better than Skrtel so far.

But I think Brendan will stick with Skrtel - Agger combo.

  3. I think we could and shoul play side almost as strong as against Norwich.

There are many reasons why we should do so, for example securing 3 games from this one we would be in the driving seat for qualifying and could play the fringe players in next rounds.

Also Brendan said after Hearts game that he is leaving out key players for this kind of matches in case of away trips because of travelling etc...but thre is no such a need for the home games.

And also when there is international break he can play twice a week, because there is not another game in 2 weeks.

Plus Udinese is probably the toughest oponnent in group, so we should play a semi-strong side.

I xpect the likes of Johnson, Skrtel, Suarez, Sahin, Shelvey, Henderson, Coates and Assaidi to start, maybe also Enrique and one of Sterling-Suso.

  4. Taken from the offal:

Martin Kelly is likely to be out of action for a significant period of time after scans revealed he suffered an ACL rupture of his right knee during the match against Manchester United on Sunday.

The England international will now require ACL reconstruction.

Meanwhile, fellow defender Daniel Agger, who was stretchered off the pitch 13 minutes before Kelly limped out of action, has suffered a significant bone bruise to the left knee.

No ligament damage was sustained but further tests will be carried out before it can be established when he will be able to return to training.

To add to Brendan Rodgers' woes, Fabio Borini has considerable swelling to the inner aspect of his right ankle though no fracture was detected on the X-ray.

The club's medical staff will wait for the swelling to reduce before an MRI scan can take place tomorrow to assess any soft tissue damage and determine when he may be able to return to playing.

reconstruction....it seems worse...Poor lad was probably thinking next season when he was talking about nex year...

  5. I'm not sold on Yesil.

Of course he's young, but I'm not as full as optimism about him as others are. I would say Ngoo is already a far superior candidate, IMHO.

The thing with all the strikers, aside from Borini, is that none of them seem to be able to crack a ball. Fowler was ace at it, just twatting a ball on target with next to no backlift. Gives keepers no chance. I've seen bits of it in Borini, but the rest of them all do lack that extra bit of power in their shots, and I'd include Suarez in that.

Carroll can crack it, but you can probably count on one hand the number of times he got himself in a position to receive, control and get a shot off with his left foot. Literally, in 18 months of football, probably 5-10 times.

I am also not sold on Yesil, I just wanna see him to play because this will be probably the weakest opponent we play during next 9 months.....If he will be shite against YBB, then we probably can not count on him as an imapct substitute....

  6. Feeling it now!

The same here....Number of lads didn´appear yesterday, so we had to play 5 a side instead of usual 6 aside on the same pitch, without any subs....we play 90 minutes games.

    We won 17 - 14

Also keepers didn´arrived because of holidays so we had to change also in the goal.

My personal stats : 3 goals scored.......3 conceded (while beeing a keeper)

  7. That's not really true. Leaving out who we've left behind, you could play a team of:

    Jones

    Flanagan/Wisdom

    Carra

    Coates

    Enrique

    Sahin

    Henderson

    Shelvey

    Assiadi

    Borini

    Downing

And some promising kids like Suso and Yesil on the bench. I've no problem with that. I think that side could get a result.

This team with Yesil starting instead of Borini and play until 60 minutes. And I´d like also see Pacheco cameo appearance. And also Danny Wilson is with the squad....

  8. Played 5 aside every week for about 9 years but then with people having kids and nagging birds it died so havent played for about 8 months, first game back tonight so hopefully it'll kick start a new game every week

I'm only 29 so can see me playing for well longer, my mates dad plays with us us still and he's about 58, he's scary.

So he used to play with Obafemi Martins and Yakubu in his early days?

  9. Stevie, Luis, Agger, Skrtel, Glen, Allen, Kelly and Pepe all left home

BRENDAN RODGERS will leave a host of senior stars behind when Liverpool FC travel to Switzerland today for tomorrow night’s Europa League Group A clash with Young Boys.

Skipper Steven Gerrard, Luis Suarez, Glen Johnson, Martin Skrtel, Daniel Agger, Joe Allen and Martin Kelly will all be rested ahead of Sunday’s Premier League showdown with Manchester United at Anfield.

Pepe Reina, who is only one game short of equalling Ray Clemence’s club record of 80 appearances by a Liverpool goalkeeper in Europe, will also remain at Melwood.

Brad Jones is set to start in goal against Young Boys with Peter Gulacsi providing cover on the bench.

Rodgers will take a youthful squad to Switzerland including Samed Yesil, Suso, Andre Wisdom, Conor Coady, Adam Morgan, Jon Flanagan, Jack Robinson and Dani Pacheco.

The manager wants to avoid a repeat of what happened after the play-off round second leg with Hearts last month.

He fielded a strong line-up against the Scots at Anfield but the Reds paid the price for their exertions three days later when they were soundly beaten by Arsenal.

With Rodgers desperate to ensure Liverpool are firing on all cylinders for the visit of United, he has taken the decision to make wholesale changes for their Group A opener.

Oussama Assaidi will make his Liverpool debut a month after he was snapped up from Heerenveen for £3million.

The Morocco international, who has overcome a minor knock, wasn’t eligible to face Hearts having appeared for the Dutch club in the third qualifying round.

However, Assaidi is now free to play for the Reds in Europe and is likely to start on the left wing.

Despite the emphasis on youth, there will still be plenty of experience in the team which faces Young Boys at the Stade de Suisse.

Nuri Sahin is expected to start his second game for the Reds following his loan move from Real Madrid.

The Turkey international midfielder, who was an unused substitute at Sunderland last weekend, needs to build up his match fitness and will be hoping to stake a claim for Sunday’s game against United.

Jamie Carragher, who will skipper the Reds, is set to partner Sebastian Coates at the back with Jose Enrique, Jordan Henderson and Stewart Downing also involved.

Raheem Sterling will travel to Switzerland but may only play a cameo role ahead of Sunday’s game with United

  10. I stopped playin´ competitive 11 a side at the age of 13 on doctor´s advice, so before it really started.

Since than I played in different 5-aside and 6-a sode teams up to my early 20-ies, when I swapped football grounds for pubs, drinking a lot and taking different types of drugs for almost a decade.

I returned to playin footy when I got married and had a baby son, 3 years ago and I still play 6-aside every wednesday.... I am 34 now.

  11. Emile Mpenza is the real deal....take hima and 60 years old Kanu, and we are sorted for next decade.

Seriously, I would give Klasnic a try....He has only one kidney, but still best of the bad bunch and better than.......nobody.

And what the fuck is with Assaidi? He should be able to play as one of the 3 attackers. Or does he really exist? He must be match fit, he played for Heerenveen in Europa League almost month ago.

  12. Tough group, but I hope to see some quality games, especially at Anfield.

Fuc the away trip to Machackala, I checked the google maps and is very close to Iran. Hell of a trip.....I can see just couple of youngsters and fringe players travelling there.
